Thanks for interviewing these guys. It's always interesting hearing their perspective on their own music.

Hell yeah! I just made my second part of the interview live now, where the band talk about the themes of Ontological Mysterium. It's without a doubt one of my favourite records this year, honestly, this year has been so brilliant for new records.
I really do think that the end of the year list is going to be a nightmare, I'll be featuring this one for review this week as well and there's a final third part of the interview as well so keep your eyes out :)

@@TheMetalTris that’s an instant watch from me. I’m jealous you already have the album. I’ve got a few more days! They’ve been my favorite band since I heard Anareta in 2015. They keep pushing their style forward. I don’t know if they can outdo Idol, but I’m optimistic.

Sidebar to this awesome video and it's content but I think it's interesting that many in the metal community view "Idol" with such mixed feelings. I think it's a fantastic album and on par with "Anareta," though not quite the same. If anything, I think the back-to-back output of "Ecdysis" and "Anareta" were bound to doom anything coming after as part of what made those albums so amazing was that the band was relatively unknown and they were getting noticed because those were special albums. If "Idol" was number 2 or 3 in their discography, I think it would be viewed differently. What say you about that record, Tris?

Edit. I see now that you reviewed the last record. I'll be watching that vid!

I agree, beating "Ecdysis" into "Anareta" was going to be a tall order but I think they did great with "Idol", it has some of my favorite parts from any of their albums. Very excited for the new one😊

      Ecdysis has Weeping Relic
      Anareta has Stillborn Gods
      Idol has Obolus
Each album has an all-time classic song and at least a half dozen other great ones. Hard to compare, because all 3 sound like completely different while sharing the unique Horrendous-ness.

@@LguanadonTRex Stillborn Gods is their best song, IMO. Though I do love Golgothan Tongues.

Haha sorry that it took me a little while to get back to you on this! Idol, in all honesty was my favourite. I really really liked it but then I think that it was darker and leaned in on the more Death / Atheist / Cynic kind of vibe that I have seen at times from the band.
They are often very difficult to compare to be honest because every record is so different but I really loved Idol and still do now! Have you listened to Ontological Mysterium yet?
Thanks for checking out the interview and I hope you enjoyed parts II and III as well (just went live!) - I’ll be reviewing the album hopefully tomorrow as well :)
