I get fussed at by my family all the time when I stop and give people money. They say to me, "All they are going to do is take that money you just gave them and buy drugs." My reply to them is, "What if they don't? What if they really are homeless and hungry? I would rather give with a willing heart, then worry if I did not do something I could have to help someone in need." What people do with the money is on them, what I do or do not do is on me. I will continue to give as I can and with a willing heart to help and let that person know someone cares.
My opinion. Yes they may buy drugs n alcohol, but who are we to judge. I never been in their shoes, if i was, would i be on drugs n alcohol? Who knows. Shame on the people that just ignored them, if you aint got money, maybe just a hello and a smile, they are people cant just blank them out like they dont exist
If someone is homeless and spends money on drugs or alcohol rather than a bed for the night, what does that tell you about the harsh realities of their life? There but for the grace of God, people. If they need drugs to get through the day, as heartbreaking as that is, it's not for any of us to judge them. A little compassion and understanding goes a long way.

I had a real dear friend who told me that a homeless person saved his life. After talking to him, made me look at all people differently. And I look for their spirit first. The amount of people who walk past a mother and daughter is absolutely skocking to me and i dont know how they could even walk past without taking 1 bit of notice. Ive only seen 1 homeless mother and dauhhter in my life and that was when i visited paris in January 2018, we were pre warned that a lot of the homeless people arent actually homeless and are in fact just cons but i came across a woman with about 4 kids and it was obvious that's how they lived because they were literally sat with what looked like all the belongings they owned. We was on our way to a fancy 3 course meal in the eiffel tower and as you can imagine in january it was absolutely freezing, i honestly wouldn't have been able to eat or enjoy myself if id of walked straight past them, i only had around 50 euros in my purse but our meal was pre paid for so i didnt actually need any money for that day so i emptied my purse of the notes and gave it to the sweetest little girl (i did keep some change just enough to get a drink of coffee) Tbh i still didn’t enjoy my meal theough thinkint about that family and 6 years later i still think about them and wonder if they're ok, i wish i could have done more for them.
People walk by like this mother and her daughter aren't even sitting there on the ground with nothing, but if it was somebody sitting with a dog you'd see more people giving them money. Because humans lives don't mean anything to anyone anymore, there's very few people who care today unfortunately.
I used to be homeless for a long time and I don't forget where I came from being homeless. When and if I see someone that is homeless I will help them. Also where I used to be homeless at, I still go to that same spot in the Cass Coradors in Detroit and some of the people I used to be homeless with are still down there homeless and I give them money. Even though I know that they are going to buy alcohol and drugs I still give them money. It's really messed up how our country would help another country before they help their own people who have fought wars for them and etc... it's just weird.

Nice? Who offered them a place to stay while they get back on their feet? This people did nothing but enable a lifestyle that will not teach that child to achieve anything other than sympathy. They were nice to their own egos. People, especially, mothers with kids, do not just find themselves in that situation. And if they do, there is countless programs that will get them off the street. They need off the street, not sympathy.

They are dropped off at locations around town and FORCED to beg for money, which is then confiscated by the person who has all but enslaved them. If they don't meet their daily "quota"--they don't get to eat, or have to sleep "hard" (outside without shelter). I know this for a fact because my younger sister ran away when she was 22 and wound up forced into an extortion ring JUST like that. She told me all about it after we miraculously FOUND her stranded on the interstate exit, standing with a sign that was NOT her handwriting. I'll never forget the look of her face when I opened the car door and yelled for her to come get in, so I could take her home with me. It took her months to feel like a normal person again; someone who has RIGHTS; who makes their own decisions; who doesn't have to be afraid of being hurt or starved if she doesn't obey. 😢 I know our society is cynical; but it's always better to err on the side of mercy. And maybe even ask that person if they are there by CHOICE, because if not--you'll help them get home. My sister was lucky; she was in the next city over. Other people get trafficked to places FAR from anyone they know. After their phones are stolen by their trafficker, they often can't remember the phone numbers of their family members; we ALL rely on our phones to remember numbers for us, these days. tl;dr Give people the benefit of the doubt. Nobody stands outside all day and begs unless they're either truly in need, or they're being victimized in one way or another.

I would help a homeless mother, father, brother, sisters. Short i would help pe😊ple in need. In fact i would help any creacher in need not just human. I vice presidend a charitable animal chelter sperialised in horses tobgether with my wife the oresident and my son and daghter we finance all our projects, work out of our own pockets, no mater how hard i try to rase funds, since the crration of our rescue center, there hadn't be 5 people that sereusly helped us. Just like the newest project we have, park 3 caravans on a pease of land we dont use, to allow homeless to use them free of charge, there has been noone else but us financing it. That is the sad truth.

There was a guy begging for money on the metro north train everyday. He was not a typical beggar. This guy dressed in a suit and tie and claimed that he was short on train fair. Everyone believed him and guy him generous amounts of money, but they didn’t see what I did. This guy said the same thing everyday on nearly all 100 trains. I seen him the next day on another train begging for money with the same story and he saw me everyday. This guy was a scammer and if he received 2 to 5 dollars on all 140 trains at grand central, he made about 700 dollars per day. I never said anything to other passengers because they wouldn’t have believed me if I did, and I would see this guy do this day after day as if we were working the same job.
Man slipped me a 20 the other day, after he recognized my situation while in Walmart parking lot. I didn’t,wasn’t asking. I wish I could find him. He was the hand of god that day. I am paying it forward, till my time here is ended.

I’m so disappointed that this was in my city and only a fraction of people helped. I’m pretty sure I know why though. It’s people like the lady who made the news here in Toronto. She owned a condo on the lakeshore and drove a Mercedes Benz and panhandled enough money to live a millionaires life! It’s disgusting people like her who have ruien it for the ones who really need it.
In my 20s I wouldn't hesitate to give them some cash, unfortunately I gave 1 family 20$ only to see them get in a lifted mega cab go to a different location change clothes and Starr begging again with a different sign. First said homeless just need to eat today, second said traveling need gas money. I knew friends that would pan handle after work just for drugs. I don't like being scammed. Just no way to be sure.
I always tell someone that I will get them some food and if they say no then I know they are just hustling. Those in real need are glad to get something to eat and real help.
We need more people in the world that will stop and talk to people that are homeless on the street give some money dollar here there buy them a meal. you know

What is also tragic is that 25% of the homeless are vets, 75% men, 50% mentally ill. And many are ignored because many believe the lie all homeless are addicted and are criminals. Many local governments keep low level complaints active so they can receive money for the person year after year. For example for 10+ year I had a charge of walking on a gravel road when a paved one was available across the street. To have gotten to the paved sidewalk I would have had to violate the law and jaywalked. I got 30 days and the jail received $100+ a day from the State. I was lucky I know my rights and received real food (Salisbury steak, mashed potatoes, gravy) instead of mystery meat (slop served to) pigs. Averaged to $99.10% to $85.00% meal cost taken out. So I cost them $5.00 per meal and not 30¢ per meal.

When I went to America I did a bus trip from Las Vegas to LA and we had a stop halfway for food and change of driver anyway we all get off and it’s a roadhouse type with Mc Donald’s and KFC and other food anyway I brought my food and was going back out to the bus and there was a couple of girls sitting on the steps asking everyone who came out for gas money because they only had enough gas to get to here she’s swinging her keys around and as I came out she asked for gas money and told me she only had enough gas to get here and can’t get home, I refused to give her money and she actually asked me why so I told her that she probably should of stayed home if she didn’t have enough gas to get somewhere and then get back home. When back in the bus the ladies were talking about her and they asked if I gave them money I said no and told them why and they said good cause they go there around the when buses of tourists are there to get money off of the tourist they don’t need gas I think they called them professional beggars or something like that. These ladies were Americans so I figured they knew a bit more than I did but something told me not to give them money and what I said to them was what I felt. I’ve been broke before and I didn’t drive anywhere if I didn’t have enough petrol or money for petrol

Last November I took in a 10 year homeless woman and I’m letting her stay in one of my bedrooms, but she was supposed to do something in exchange for staying in the room. She completely reneged on our arrangement. She brings drama to my house and has added to my burdens. Last year I helped a homeless couple that was pregnant. They were just waiting for their housing to come through. They lied to me and milked me for all I was worth until he finally was arrested on an out of county warrant and she ended up having the baby after going into labor in my garage. That was the only way I could finally get rid of them. Her having a baby and him getting arrested, I tried to help them. They used me. They caused damage to my home and they didn’t pay anything. Those are just two examples of me helping homeless people. Throughout the past decade, I have been helping homeless people, and they have all burnt me really badly. I was hoping to run across a few that weren’t gonna do me dirty, but they all did. Not a single one of them had any integrity to speak of. And that’s why I would never help a homeless person ever again. I can only help myself. And they should help themselves.
The sad thing is the mentality everyone has is even if they help this mother and child there’s too many homeless people for the individual to help so they just don’t even try and help you Saw all those people in this video walk but if everybody who walked by bought one singular meal they could feed most if not all the homeless in the area if everyone helps a little it goes a long way. In my 20s I wouldn't hesitate to give them some cash, unfortunately I gave 1 family 20$ only to see them get in a lifted mega cab go to a different location change clothes and Starr begging again with a different sign. First said homeless just need to eat today, second said traveling need gas money. I knew friends that would pan handle after work just for drugs. I don't like being scammed. Just no way to be sure.
Theres ways to tell. Even if theyre going to buy drugs with it its drugs that they physically need at that point.
I always tell someone that I will get them some food and if they say no then I know they are just hustling. Those in real need are glad to get something to eat and real help.

What is also tragic is that 25% of the homeless are vets, 75% men, 50% mentally ill. And many are ignored because many believe the lie all homeless are addicted and are criminals. Many local governments keep low level complaints active so they can receive money for the person year after year. For example for 10+ year I had a charge of walking on a gravel road when a paved one was available across the street. To have gotten to the paved sidewalk I would have had to violate the law and jaywalked. I got 30 days and the jail received $100+ a day from the State. I was lucky I know my rights and received real food (Salisbury steak, mashed potatoes, gravy) instead of mystery meat (slop served to) pigs. Averaged to $99.10% to $85.00% meal cost taken out. So I cost them $5.00 per meal and not 30¢ per meal.

When I went to America I did a bus trip from Las Vegas to LA and we had a stop halfway for food and change of driver anyway we all get off and it’s a roadhouse type with Mc Donald’s and KFC and other food anyway I brought my food and was going back out to the bus and there was a couple of girls sitting on the steps asking everyone who came out for gas money because they only had enough gas to get to here she’s swinging her keys around and as I came out she asked for gas money and told me she only had enough gas to get here and can’t get home, I refused to give her money and she actually asked me why so I told her that she probably should of stayed home if she didn’t have enough gas to get somewhere and then get back home. When back in the bus the ladies were talking about her and they asked if I gave them money I said no and told them why and they said good cause they go there around the when buses of tourists are there to get money off of the tourist they don’t need gas I think they called them professional beggars or something like that. These ladies were Americans so I figured they knew a bit more than I did but something told me not to give them money and what I said to them was what I felt. I’ve been broke before and I didn’t drive anywhere if I didn’t have enough petrol or money for petrol

John, Jesus Christ has nothing to do with any of this. Did you even read my comment? I clearly said that helping homeless people has harmed me. I learned my lesson. Last November I took in a 10 year homeless woman and I’m letting her stay in one of my bedrooms, but she was supposed to do something in exchange for staying in the room. She completely reneged on our arrangement. She brings drama to my house and has added to my burdens. Last year I helped a homeless couple that was pregnant. They were just waiting for their housing to come through. They lied to me and milked me for all I was worth until he finally was arrested on an out of county warrant and she ended up having the baby after going into labor in my garage. That was the only way I could finally get rid of them. Her having a baby and him getting arrested, I tried to help them. They used me. They caused damage to my home and they didn’t pay anything. Those are just two examples of me helping homeless people. Throughout the past decade, I have been helping homeless people, and they have all burnt me really badly. I was hoping to run across a few that weren’t gonna do me dirty, but they all did. Not a single one of them had any integrity to speak of. And that’s why I would never help a homeless person ever again. I can only help myself. And they should help themselves.

Sorry, i myself am in need of financial help and justice and i learned the hard way, many single mothers and their kids end up homeless because of the mother's bad choices, the first bad choice being the guys she dated and slept with, and don't give me any c**p about " the kids shouldn't have to suffer because of the parent/s bad choices", try that and i will simply say, i don't deserve to suffer for it either, not after all i have been through, i am no-one's last choice, sorry!
