Samantha Bricio (born November 22, 1994 in Mexico) is a Mexican volleyball player, the youngest player to play for the Mexico national team in its history. Bricio played in the 2009 FIVB Girls Youth World Championship (finishing ninth) and again in 2011, finishing twelfth. She received the 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games Best Scorer and Best Server awards and the Best Scorer award in the 2011 Youth Pan-American Cup, 2011 Junior Pan-American Cup and the 2013 Pan-American Cup.
While at USC, she won the Honda Sports Award as the nation's best collegiate female volleyball player in 2016.[53][54]
Bricio played with the American Premier Volleyball League club Chesapeake Rising Tide from Chesapeake Bay[55] at the 2016 league tournament held along the Open National Championships.[56] She helped her team to win the bronze medal after they lost to Team Iowa Ice but defeated Great Lakes Lightning to achieve the third place.[57]
She signed with the Italian league champion club Imoco Volley Conegliano for two years,[58] starting in the 2016/17 season.[59] She made the All-Star game selection[60] and later won the Italian Supercup defeating 3-1 to Foppapedretti Bergamo, where she became Most Valuable Player after leading her team with 24 points.[61][62]
2017
In the 2016-17 CEV Champions League, Bricio helped her team in the pool play against[63] and Chemik Police,[64] another victories in the Italian Cup[65] and helping to retake the domestic league first place.[66] After that, she was sidelined from playing in February when she got a virus,[67][68] even though, her team won the Italian Cup.[69]
She suffered a sprain during the second domestic league quarterfinals match,[70] being unable to play the CEV Champions League Final Four[71] hosted by her club,[72] who claimed the silver medal.[73]

The fact that she's using the controlled method of jump spike serves instead of the raw power serves and still getting insane amounts of speed and topspin is just stupidly OP
What is the raw power serves? No jump over hand serve?
@@2202Winterful probably talking about spinning the ball. Datshiba is referring to how she tosses like one would for a float serve but she actually is doing a spinner. Normally for a jump spin, you'd toss it with prespin.

Well I mean topspins aren’t too op. You just have to know how to dig them correctly then it’s not too bad. If it’s in a professional league like this then receiving players will know how to dig a topspin

The level of skill required to serve a ball like this consistently is mindboggling. She must practice for hours every day to achieve this.
That was my thought. Her focus and consistency speaks of hundreds of hours of practice.

Bricio and Parra are two powerful swords in the arms collection of mexico...real powerhouse...
I think what's special about her serve is that she uses her body for the greatest advantage + power and speed. Her limbs are long so her vertical jump is high plus she makes use of her wing span to really go the highest peak of her spike. With enough power and the momentum from the approach starting from the highest peak she spike the ball with much spin for more speed and uses that technique for control. Not to mention her ritual beforehand is consistent. She's really a good server.
When she holds out the ball before serving it, it's almost like she's saying, "See this ball? I'm gonna smash it down your throats."

Super fun to watch this. In high school gym class I learned how to do the over hand serve with top spin. On the rare occasion it worked, it was amazing how the ball would whip over the net and then arc downwards. I could basically target the weakest player on the other team and they would jump out of the way. Of course after a few good ones, I would miss and blast one out of bounds. Volleyball is good fun.

her release of her jump serve is much more consistent compared to the standard way of using one hand in my opinion.
She literally uses the jump float technique, but then gives the ball a bit of top spin which allows her to put a bit more power behind her hit... It's safer than a full jump (top spin) serve, but way easier to defend...
