im in the fourth year of my phil degree and him saying her content isnt philosophy shows how little he knows about the subject. shes not doing the history of philosophy, shes doing applied philosophy.
1:34:03 as a caller during the pandemic, I can attest that Brittany was clear from day one that the call was not intended as therapy. The reason the calls were valuable to me was that I saw Brittany as a mentor that I could ask philosophy questions or come to for advice on introspection. 10/10 calls, she was always professional and respectful
I found this channel recently and its not because I wanted therapy. I was surprised how nuanced and analytical the commentary was because I'm used to commentary being very surface level and reactionary, this was simply a refreshing experience.
@@lLenn2 lol, I'll have you know I can pick out a motorcycle in a photograph any day of the week. Idk if ur joking or not, but your comment sounds like something a bot would say...
I almost choked on my coffee near the end when he says "her content teaches her audience how to not think critically about others" - BRITTANY'S CONTENT TEACHES THE LITERAL OPPOSITE - and even more importantly, it teaches that we should spend less of our precious energy even WORRYING about others to that degree, and to focus on our relationship with ourselves (as a ~consciousness~ oooh another of the key words, LOL).
It's like saying someone invested in them selves and arguing that it's wrong bc it's not the accounting definition of investment with a business article.
no one is immune to critisism but I watched this guy's video in full and it just sucked. it was all based on bias and speculation and his feelings about brittany rather than anything substantive. would be way more interesting to see someone pick at her actually philosophy rather than just making assumptions about her and her audience.
Some people think in order to contribute to philosophy you have to be a man who died hundreds of years ago, Once I was talking about philosophy to a man and used the words "modern philosophers" and got laughed at xD Some people just wanna pedestal everything to avoid doing the work, but what can you do they're just doing them I guess haha
Literally this!!!! That's why I think people don't read philosophy or about philosophers. So many of them were so flawed and often "bad" people by modern and even past standards. I think we create a myth around the philosopher who has died and pedestal them far from us to deny ourselves the responsibility of getting better and facing ourselves. "I want to be better but these men are so great who am I to dream?! I guess this is the best I can do.🤷"
@@BrittanySimonMy thoughts exactly lol, people will pedestal and make a god out of anything xD It's a little frustrating trying to talk about philosophy with them, because it just ends up with me getting beaten with the quote stick and all of a sudden there's an objective, impossible to have a cool conversation...oh well haha
I think it's more that you have to understand their importance, and their ideas and theories, in order to even talk about modern philosophy. How can seriously have a philosophical debate or proper grounding in modern philosophy if you don't understand Plato or Hegel or Marx or - for old female perspectives - Wollestonecraft or De Beauvoir?
People probably don't think you're doing real philosophy because in the 21st century the two predominant approaches to philosophy are analytic philosophy and continental philosophy, which each have their own rich history, notable figures, methodologies, and particular schools of thought. It's not clear what approach you are using or what thinkers, philosophical methodologies, or schools of thought you're primarily drawing from. It seems like you're just kind of doing your own thing while incorporating various ideas from philosophy, psychology, and religion into it, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
But the irony is that they say she speaks in black and white yet act like she's to vague simultaneously. She just has nuance and doesn't subscribe to one ideology. That's why it's so difficult for them to grasp. 🤷♀️

What shocks me is how this person was able to put together SO MANY clips from your content to create an hour long video and STILL doesn't get it? I find that very hard to believe. I don't think he's necessarily ignorant, I think he's just a jealous misogynists. Way to take literally every clip out of context to spin an entirely different narrative from what Brittany's work is actually about.
It’s the bit where he says “Brittany’s 3 favourite words are-” and “bubble” isn’t one of them 😂 😂 😂 like you said it’s in your Twitter bio but isn’t it funny he DID read out the other stuff from there like LGBTQ etc
This is one of those “a bad review from the right person is like a good review” and this is like a dang Michelin Star 😂 I don’t always agree with everything you say, but I end up self reflecting a lot listening to what you say- kind of the opposite of a cult leader. It’s helping to reinforce my own beliefs and boundaries after a long life of things that resulted in erring on the side of people pleasing. But I guess only people that look and talk like Jordan Peterson can be real philosophers… THAT doesn’t sound culty at all lmao
I enjoy social media purely for being able to see content from all over the world, from incredibly different perspectives and opinions; But it’s a good reminder when weird things like this happen that we have artificially allowed people who most likely would have never interacted prior to witness each others existence. Our existence is definitely not to please everyone we meet, but I just can’t wrap my mind around why people feel as though they have the right to try to “cancel” someone. And although I don't watch all your videos I enjoy seeing you intersect with other bubbles from time to time. One of the first streams I sat in on was about parasocial relationships in which you set yourself up to fail at being a cult leader by establishing that you would not respect or be friends with a fan who formed a parasocial relationship with you
I feel like I'm in high school listening to the worst, yet most confident student in class give a presentation that they didn't study at all for and I'm getting second hand embarrassment. A HUGE takeaway from her streams is learning to ask "why"- why would someone do something? Why do I feel this way about it? Why are we misunderstanding each other? Explore the different possibilities with curiosity, and consider that maybe you don't KNOW a concrete answer.
Wow I didn’t know that for the past 10 plus years I wasn’t watching you for your takes 😂 sorry Brittany I’ve been doing this wrong, I needed a man to tell me 😂
Missed the end of the stream so glad you uploaded the whole thing. @@PrincessPixieBell You could argue that about assorting any clips together. If I made a slideshow of animals being harmed would it still be well done?
This video comes off as defensive 🤷♀️ people with a clean conscious would not be defensive over someone else's opinions especially because you've made it clear, he doesn't know you. So why talk down about his intelligence and have to connect so many dots to explain yourself instead of carrying on?

As wrong as they are, that video was pretty well made I have to admit.
how is it well made when it’s all just out of context clips, and simple slideshow transitions lol ?
@@spitxoxo idk I just think of the work it takes to grab all these clips and edit them together in the certain order he did. Idk if you’ve ever done that but I’m pretty proud of myself when I take the time to do it.
@@PrincessPixieBell You could argue that about assorting any clips together. If I made a slideshow of animals being harmed would it still be well done?
@@rreachingoutt yeah it could be. I’m not a gore or murder kind of person but for someone like that, it could be.
@@PrincessPixieBell girl i’ve edited videos too it’s not that hard. don’t praise men doing the bare minimum..
thanks for content
This video comes off as defensive 🤷♀️ people with a clean conscious would not be defensive over someone else's opinions especially because you've made it clear, he doesn't know you. So why talk down about his intelligence and have to connect so many dots to explain yourself instead of carrying on?
Sup Britt?
Damn I was really hoping the response would be different.

The poisoning of the well right away for one thing. That shit is almost always a bad idea.
Some people are so pressed that you don’t pander, stay in your lane and have done a ton of inner work. Even worse that you’re successful doing it. 🫶🏻
