On top of that most of the biomass came from prisoners who were mostly helpless since they were stuck in cells and unarmed. An outbreak would definetly cost a lot of lifes but I believe that if the Gouvernment wants to stop it they will definetly be able to.
Jacob was unknowingly transporting the larva to Europa starting the outbreak there. Thats why Dani was attempting to take the ship. The UJC was responsible for the Europa outbreak.
@@JD867 it was deliberate, they were doing the same thing they did to the Arcas colony. The larva was hidden in the vaccine shots, so when people took the shot they got infected. The Black Iron outbreak wasnt supposed to happen which is why the "Callisto Protocol" was taken into effect. I collected about 95% of the voice recs and this what i got from them atleast.

Jacob knew that he was transporting some larva in tubes and knew that this whole thing was shady. Its also implied that he and his partner realised that it was the reason for the outbreak on Europa but Jacob didnt care because money.
@@caZed3100 when does it show that he knew what was in the crates? He doesn’t open them in the intro and when they check the ship after he gets the exosuit it shows it’s medical supplies. It doesn’t even reveal that Jacob was carrying it until the Europa memories are uploaded. Just wondering if I missed something
right, I hope if they do they focus more on ranged combat, and maybe letting the player play how they want, sort of like dead space with a bit more focus on melee if you want it, or like how the evil within combat is, maybe they can just give us an extensive skilltree for each combat type, and you can build up the character how you like, most will probably focus on ranged combat, but that way the levels can be a lot bigger, and that whole god of war style combat with the dodge mechanic that limits how the the monster's attack can be changed, that is a major reason why the game felt so limited and why people just really wasn't feeling combat and why the monster's didn't scare them as much, it's a shame to because the monster designs were top notch, I did expect quite a few more then what we got, and I wish the story was a bit bigger, more crazy set pieces, more weapons, etc. but for a first try it was definitely pretty good, hopefully 2 will be the masterpiece
I did as well, my only gripe was the last bit of the game being really tedious with combat and those 2 headed bosses. If they can fix the actual gameplay loop for a sequel it'll be great
Say what you want about Biophages, unlike Necromorphs, they can pimp slap someone's face off in one go. Other than that, they will royal rumble you like they did to poor Jacob.
Dude.... necromorphs can slice your face(or any of your body parts) in one swing and if you have below genius level IQ you'll be turned to one of them without any way to prevent it and you still get hallucinations even if you have a genius level of IQ.

I think the story and atmosphere of this game was well done, but the gameplay left a lot to be desired. I really hope the performance issues from release on PC get fixed but that the damage to the game's reputation isn't a complete nosedive. I'd like to see more developers take a risk and leave the major studios like Glen Schofield did to make the games they want without some publisher getting in the way of the creative vision. Hopefully Striking Distance Studios continues to grow as they fix and improve the game and whatever direction they go in next.

I agree with you on the atmosphere and gameplay, but I really didn't like the story. It felt overly generic and/or contrived, and the primary antagonist was a comically evil cultist that you cannot get invested in whatsoever (the scene before you fight the final boss is incredibly goofy let's be honest). Dani as a character could've just not existed in general and the game would hardly be impacted by her disappearance, and she kinda just feels like a douchebag whose motives change for the convenience of the plot rather than for legitimate reasons. Overall this game was certainly an attempt to capture that lightning in a bottle that was caught by Dead Space, but ultimately it flopped in the story, gameplay, and performance aspects. I can't help but making the comparison that the Callisto Protocol is to Dead Space as Back 4 Blood is to Left 4 Dead, in that the original creators separate from a publisher to make a game that ends up being worse off than the game made under the publisher.

I could see this being the end for the IP, unfortunately. Unless Callisto is a surprise sales success, I just don’t see another one moving forward given the game’s critical failings. The setting is really cool but the gameplay just isn’t there. A sequel would need a complete overhaul. The current melee system would have to be tossed and replaced with a more fleshed-out combat system.
@bizmonkey007 I think you're right unfortunately. I'd be down if they did another one where you play as Dani instead. She's a pretty small person so her going into constant melee combat wouldn't make sense. It could be more last resort and primarily a gun focused game. Plus Karen Fukahara. Never bad. :)
I like the more Resident Evil style villains focused on the evolution of man for this game but so much of it ended up being dissapointing. There is a glaring lack of enemy variety and I don't think it takes full advantage of the enemies evolving overtime.

A huge factor of immersion braking comes to the fact that every enemy is the same exact height or body size style or is it the same age looking and not an old man old woman wearing different clothes a child there's no genitals hanging out because of the brutal mutilation it's just breaks immersion
I mean.... It's a enclosed Prison population, with almost entirely human males. and it hasn't been going on long enough for anything to happen beyond the basic forms. Seems to me the Biophage requires constant interaction to progressively Evolve. Without aggressive interaction, the infected goes dormant and degrades.

Those enemies you talking about that can one shot you are the ones you're supposed to use your guns on. That's the whole point of the boss enemy that gets you to think outside the box of what you've been playing for the last few hours. Stop hating on the game because you're a fan of Dead Space. I think you should do a “Why you wouldn’t survive Project Zomboid’s Knox Infection” Not even including the fact that the game’s only ending is the player dying, the game itself is about long term survival in a zombie infested world rather than telling a story set in a zombie infested world. As for lore about the outbreak, you can learn from the radio/news broadcasts that the Knox Infection is one of the bleakest depictions of any zombie apocalypse media I’ve ever seen and I don’t say that lightly. I don’t want to spoil it, but I think it’s right up your alley.

I honestly really enjoyed the game, there are obviously some things to be worked on, but the story and the atmosphere and the combat is just perfect imo. The biophage are honestly just as creepy as the necromorphs, if not even more so. They are like feral creatures instead of monsters. They just sprint at you full speed and give you no mercy. I played on hard on my first playthrough and got my ass absolutely handed to me so many times until I figured out the best ways to kill them. That's the sign of good enemy design when you find really creative ways to dispatch them over time of playing the game.

Could you take a look at the star wars Death Troopers novels? While its not the best zombie novel and is a bit old, it has a pretty good audio book and the virus in it is actually sentient, and capable of learning, adapting, and planning.

I honestly really enjoyed the game, there are obviously some things to be worked on, but the story and the atmosphere and the combat is just perfect imo. The biophage are honestly just as creepy as the necromorphs, if not even more so. They are like feral creatures instead of monsters. They just sprint at you full speed and give you no mercy. I played on hard on my first playthrough and got my ass absolutely handed to me so many times until I figured out the best ways to kill them. That's the sign of good enemy design when you find really creative ways to dispatch them over time of playing the game.
beat this last night. this game was so close to being more than decent but it falls short. Not a bad game though, even though it broke my heart on day 1 because i was so dissapointed.

IMO Dead Space is scarier but the Biophages are absolutely ferocious and relentless
so are the necromorphs
The goldeneye music in the background makes this even better

Man that sucks you had to worry about long loading screens after dying, I played this on my PS5 and it would load in a few seconds at the max. Honestly though regardless of the bad rap this game has been given by so many people I actually loved it, I can't wait for the dlc to drop as well. Also can't wait for dead space remake lol.

@@chasebrown7688 minimum security is like normal mode, medium is a hard mode and maximum is for people who want to go insane, just gotta get your weapons upgraded and learn the mechanics then your all good
I love these...I have callisto protocol but play it so little I still haven't left the area where that guy says "Careful down there, that's where they keep all the crazies..idk I got the shh deal where it hardly played and had rendering problems and dropped loading screens etc. I did the update thing but...yea feeling like I need to go ahead with the experience so I can yell that's dead space stuff!

Could you take a look at the star wars Death Troopers novels? While its not the best zombie novel and is a bit old, it has a pretty good audio book and the virus in it is actually sentient, and capable of learning, adapting, and planning.
