  • Landscape and Travel Photography in Finistere, France.
    As a stock travel and landscape photographer the need for me to explore is embedded within. To discover new places and capture them in the best way that I can.
    During the week of 8th April to 15th April 2017 my family and I took a holiday to the department of Finistère in the region of Brittany in western France.
    Southern Finistère is known as “Little Cornwall” or Petit Cornouaille and if you’ve ever visited the south west coast of the United Kingdom then it will very similar both in terms of geology and also in terms of some of the architecture of houses in the villages.
    Each day we visited a number of places and I noted some potential spots for the vlog at the end of the day. Places that weren’t too far away from where we were staying.
    The week ended with a visit to La Pointe du Raz which is the equivalent of Land’s End in Cornwall including the shops and visitor centre.
    Note that more sequences were filmed but I didn't want the vlog to be too long.
    *Note that the next vlog will be around the beginning of May.

      Thanks Andreas! Kind words considering none of it was planned ;) I was supposed to be on holiday but it's hard when you get scenery like Finistère!!!

      Francisco, I share your pain. I used to live an area from coastline like Brittany. It's no more like 4 hours from where I now live. But that's fine and I'm sure I'll get back soon :)

    Good to see you don't really stop for holidays!!
    Looking at the images you have included in your vlogs there is a certain look to them - a fairly light touch which is very attractive. How about an episode about your approach to post processing - I'm sure many would be interested.

      Hi Ken!!! How goes it?
      Well, I did "try" my best and certainly we spent some time lounging on the many beaches when the weather permitted it.
      The idea of showing my very minimalist post processing has been in the back of mind for a while now. I just need to find some spare cash to get the software to do it.
      My method changes every so often but it mostly revolves around Lightroom. That "may" change though and there is an episode planned soon around blending/ in camera capture etc.

      Goes well Julian - apart from deciding to move house at my age!! Just something else to get in the way of doing some serious photography. Hope you can cover the post processing in the relatively near future as I could do with a large injection of inspiration.

      Moving house? That's always going to be difficult. I'm sure it'll go well though.
      Not sure when I can sort out the PP video. As I said, I need to get the spare cash for the screen capture software and also figure out how to synch the audio etc.

      Thanks for stopping by! Depends really.At times it can be the tilt shift lens or sometimes it's as simple as using the hyperfocal distance point of the lens. I usually use f11 and f16 but never f22 as it just goes too soft.

    I think some of the best photos may happen unexpectedly when on holiday as there is no pressure to meet previously decided expectations, only enjoyment. And i really enjoyed your holiday Jullian. Thank you for sharing it.

      Thanks Linde! There was certainly no pressure to come back with images. It was nice to be able to do so though and Brittany is a beautiful area of France :)

    Thanks to all that have subscribed in the last week. I've seen quite a few people have taken an interest which is great!
    Keep the comments coming. It's nice interacting with the people that follow my channel and all are appreciated.
    Today, I was supposed to be in Burgundy filming this week's vlog but the weather forecast just wasn't up to it so you'll have to make do with Brittany.
    I'll be in the Dolomites next week and I "may" get a chance to vlog there but I'm with another photographer so it may not be possible to get anything. But we will see!

      I wish I could do more in Brittany Miguel! It has some stunning coastline but it's a good 4 hour drive or so from where I live.

    Another great blog, thanks; it's beautiful area. I wonder how you use the tilt on the TSE - do use an iterative or focus/refocus approach for these lovely landscapes?

    • @JulianElliottPhotography
      @JulianElliottPhotography  7 років тому

      Thanks Christopher!
      I'm certainly no expert when it comes to tilt. The easiest method I found was to focus on the horizon; level the camera off and then tilt. It's not usually a lot at all that's needed.

    Hello ... from Barcelona
    Excuse my English, is very forgotten and helped me google translator.
    I liked your videos, I am fond of photography and this summer we will go to Brittany and I want to photograph as many lighthouses as I can. I have some doubts that equipment to take me to photograph in "pointe du raz" you think that with the 70-200 mm I can get good shots of the lighthouse or maybe I should add more weight to the bag with the 150-600mm.
    Thank you

    • @JulianElliottPhotography
      @JulianElliottPhotography  6 років тому

      Hi there! Honestly, I'd take the 150-600mm. I think with extra reach you would be served better rather than struggling to get what it is you need.
