FYI. UPDATE If you have not yet downloaded the latest precision farming update. You can now get the weed control bonus by just spraying a little herbicide on the grass field just as you can with regular crops. You do NOT have to plant another crop to get the weed control bonus and you do not have to have weeds in the field to get the bonus.
You rock thanks for the VALUABLE information! Quite literally. Didn't quite work out this year for me 100% since I plowed new boundaries. Figured I'd make the oddly shaped field a bit easier to work while I was at it and my grass production was down. Ended up hurting my yield but I'm higher than I was! I'll try the same technique next year and report back. You have a new (red) subscriber.
@@sspRkk Personally I would do it after the 1st harvest if it was still early in the year but if I was on the tail end of the year I would wait until next year. IMHO
Using the herbicide damages your crop and affects your yield. I planted a wheat field and ran a weeder over it after the second round fertilizer and haven't had any weeds grow yet knock on wood And I'm projected with a 120 or better yield with a environmental score of 100
Just in case someone watches this video and sees this question: Use Direct Drill seeder/planter. Apparently you don't need stubble for Max Tillage score if you DD. If you don't have Direct Drill, you need to use Shallow Cultivators (like Disc Harrows) to minimize the penalties. You don't want to dig up the field, you just want to break up/soften the surface! Same rules apply (at last!) to crop fields and the grass when it comes to the field work scores!
Nice info....However... thats works ok with 1 field on the map (get detailed info). However if you have 10+ grass fields that hit 99% each its difficult to find which section is lacking. N/ tillage etc as the bars are so small on individual fields.
Good point! I agree. I have been thinking the same thing. I do wish it were possible to bring up a large bar graph for each individual field on the map. All we can do is hope Giants will add that feature in a future update to precision farming. Thank you for the feedback.
@@battlecrom5463 Sorry if was a negative comment, but was a good video and did learn something. I did it the hard way and let the full crop grow and harvested before re seeding to grass. Good to know there is a short cut for future use.
Uhm I dont know if they changed it or not, but you can get the max weed score on grass now by spraying 0 herbicide on the field. I have verified it with weeds turned off. I have also seen it work with weeds turned on.
Thanks for the input. Sorry for my slow response as I have been on vacation. It is possible that it could have been patched, I will have to test it out to know for sure. When I made this video that trick only worked on crops, not grass. Also this was done on PC not console.
@@battlecrom5463 Thanks for the reply. It may have gotten patched I dont know. BUT here is what I did : On PC, With weeds turned off. I use a sprayer and drive down the middle of the field. The first field takes a bit of time 20-30 seconds to update. After that the next patch would update within seconds of turning on the sprayer. I have tested it on grass/grain crops. Not on sugarbeet or potatoes yet. Hope this info can help you out
@@dralord1307 I haven't tested it with the new PF patch yet. I wonder if the weeds turned off could be the difference. All my testing and gameplay with PF is with weeds turned on. I'll test it out tonight and get back to you.
@@dralord1307 Alright. I tested it with weeds turned and with the new patch installed and I did get the weed control bonus by just turning on the sprayer for a couple seconds over the crop. You are correct and it has now been patched with the new Precision Farming update.
I think the weed control standards in precision farming needs to be adjusted a bit. Instead of going up by controlling weeds maybe it should drop the score the more weeds there are.

You can do the same thing just planting for 1 meter do not need to destroy a ton of seeds etc
Ah excellent, thats helpful. How do you get a max score for tillage too? Thats always just half for me too!

No worries. I didn't think it was negative at all, rather I thought you had a good point.
After harvest of grass, use a mulcher, then fertilize it right after…you get to 100%
So no more grass rolling for grass if youre on precision farming?
seems that way.

so basically, you used the sorghum as a cover crop for grass when you could have used oilseed radish.
