- A few surprises found. Enjoy!
Correction: 10, 12, and 14hp K Series have 9 head bolts, the 16 Hp has 10. I misspoke initially in the video then corrected myself! - Розваги
Thank you for getting back to me. I really do appreciate it. On the bar itself the flat bit broke. I’m having it welded back together but I didn’t know if the flat bit was closest to the bar will come out or it was on the opposite side, I’m sorry about the wording, but I’m not quite sure how to explain it, thank you again, Gary
I am restoring Kohler 141 Engine I have a broken Governor pin. If you have a spare one could you show me a video on how to install it please would be grateful I really enjoy your videos. You do literally show everything. Thank you again Gary
I don’t have a video on the K141. How did it break? Can you send me a photo? Usually you have to take the engine apart to install a governor shaft
You were really in your element - your passion for these engines is great. Well done mate I really enjoyed it!
Thanks Tom!
Great find on the upside down breather. Those valve guides are fantastic for the age of the engine.
Thanks Ed, this may be an easy cheap fix! How’s your K Series rebuild going?
I am really enjoyed this as this is the size and type of engines we work on and as such the information you are providing is like gold. It is interesting that the piston looked clean but the valves not, it suggests someone might have had it apart recently, especially with that part upside down. It does make you wonder what else they did, I think for the sake of a gasket, I would be tempted to take the side off to check the rod, crank, etc. I am looking forward to part 2
Nice work! These are pieces of art!
I have more editing to do but the engine right now is running sweet in an Economy Power King Tractor! Thanks for watching!
Very nice Kenny. Good info as well.
Had one on a Wheelhorse tractor. I will take one of these any day over those Aluminum Command OHV engines.
They are torque monsters. It runs great, just need to finish editing the videos. Thanks for watching!
Thanks Ken great video
It’s about time huh?
Nice one ken 😊👍 and thanks for some tips and trix about those K-series so i can fix them my self
They are easy and fun to work on
Pleasure to watch ken
Thanks Gary, more to come!
Those old K series were just about bullet proof. I haven't had one on the bench for several years. Waiting on #2.
Thanks for watching Jim!
I think someone had rebuilt that motor, and you are finding their mistakes. What about checking for balance gears? You could remove the cam cover and take a look. I just rebuilt my K301 (it had a standard Mahle piston) and left out the old style balance gears that were inside, and it seems to run smooth, even at idle. The piston had little wear, and I reused it, but at some point the motor was underwater (I think Hurricane Irene) and the rings corroded, so new rings were used.
Definitely chucking the grenade gears. Have to dial bore the cylinder to see where it’s at. The crank was at -0.003 in the thrust direction so it’s out being ground, I have a minus 0.010 rod ready to go
Cheers for the tips. I wonder how tha breather got upside down. Odly I have a K series engine that will need work soon.
IMHO the best small engine ever made!
Nice one Ken other than the orzo eh? Would have thought there may have been some difficulty removing the head bolts but easy peasey.
Ya engine was taken care of
Have you done the part 2 video on this? Thanks
Working on editing. Coming soon!
It's on the block 321 right under the crank 14 HP
Not all K321 blocks had the number cast in, a lot of K301's did
I got one that needs a carb do you know what one I need to buy?
A K321 uses a Carter Model N Carb, size 30(mm bore). The aftermarket clones seem to work fine, just make sure you buy one with the correct choke linkage
Where is part 2 ?
It’s in editing. Coming soon
Thank you .
If you have seven head bolts, what horsepower is it?
6, 7, or 8hp. K141, K161, or K181 respectively
