The Hawaii guitar was played by the Greenland legendary musician Jens Hendriksen. When the American soldiers made military bases in our land, they brought with them Hawaii music! The very few of us who gained access to the bases, happened to be musicians! I personally do not KNOW how my people got to KNOW how to play the Hawai guitar. But it HAPPENED.. And some years later, they played their thing on a record! Around the Uummannaq area, this is where that music started. The area is called the Vaigat. So it became the Vaigat sound, with a swing-time music with a Hawaian-sound to it. This is what happens, when one culture meets another one. We still love this sound in Greenland!
His name is Peter Enoksen from Sisimiut in Greenland. Yes, he has released several cd´s. This is traditional Greenland pop music, and I love it too. :-)
