I love all the singing loons. You did well to paddle so many km solo with the wind. When I did this trip with my daughter several years ago I was impressed by that manual solo ferry and all the creative solutions for lifting and anchoring boats and docks. Great video - subscribed!
That's neat that Parks Canada just lets people camp wherever they want on the island and at the locks, and for only $4.90 is a really affordable price!
Ya definitely. Later in the trip I spent one night camping at a Provincial Park, and the price ended up being 11x more expensive than lock station camping!
@@cjhoyle Wow! Yeah provincial park prices have really gone up over the years, and they don't have any lower prices for people who are just camping with a canoe or bike and a tent.
@@WheelsonaBike Haha going to Perth didn't happen until Day 4. This comment was left on Day 3, so Portland was correct! I probably confused you by responding to a comment that you left a week ago.
@@cjhoyle Yes! That's most likely what happened. I just left a comment on your latest video, in which you visit Perth. Well then... I need to keep track of my comments. 😂
Really enjoying your Rideau Canal series. Looking forward to watching yourW Trent-Severn series. We plan to do the Rideau and the Trent-Severn next year as part of our America’s Great Loop Adventure. What software, app, are you using to show your route?
When you locked your canoe, how did you secure your paddles? Or do you take them with you into town? Also, when you camp at a lockstation, and go into town, how do you lock your valuables?
When I locked the canoe, I simply placed the paddles underneath of it without locking them. I was much less concerned about them going missing than the canoe. When I leave my tent unattended, I bring all of my valuables with me such as electronics and my wallet.
A full day adventure. Lots of beautiful scenery - thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching!

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Those loons were pretty special :)
Informative and fun to watch. These videos are a lot of fun to watch.
Thanks, I'm glad you're enjoying them!
I love your videos, so easy to follow and very well made.
Thanks, I'm glad they're easy to follow.
The number of kms you do in a day, with crosswinds yet, is impressive. Another good video, looking forward to the rest.
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it. The key to doing the long distances is to get an early start.
So nice on the water. That was quite a big Caesars Salad.
It's a really enjoyable place to spend a vacation.
Great video. You're a great presenter and I loved the details you're able to pepper into the narration.
Thanks, I appreciate the kind words! I'm a pleasure getting to share my adventures.
I really enjoy these canoe 🛶 journeys

Great video! Thanks for going to Portland. I've never been and it was interesting to see.
Thank you. Portland was definitely worth the visit. On a previous bike trip I rode right past it and didn't stop.
@@cjhoyle I was meaning to write Perth, sorry about that. I need to make a habit of reading what I write.

7:06 that old bridge abutment was for the Brockville and Westport railway which closed in 1952!
Nice! I had a feeling it was from an old railway.

Awesome! Sounds like it will be a great trip. I use Google Earth Pro to make my maps.
