Ammonia is the waste and toxic compound generated in fish culture tank which must be controlled. In BioFloc fish farming, it is controlled by maintaining 10:1 carbon to nitrogen ratio.

First of all I want to salute you for your hard work.
Secondly there are a few questions about you calculation as it is not the right calculation..
1-you have found Nitrogen as 192 gram in your calculation, assuming 25% assimilation the nitrogen as waste is equal to 144 gram, till now things are OK
2-Accordingly to maintain a C:N ratio as 10 we have to add carbon 10 times more than that of nitrogen =1440 gram carbon OK
But You have suggested 1440gram "molasses" , to maintain the mentioned C:N ratio...
Here You have done 2 mistakes because you have considered molasses as full CARBON which is wrong because molasses is a source of carbon, not fully carbon
Also you did not considered carbon of feed
So I request you to plss correct these 2 points, if you have done mistake OR rectify my doubts (questions)

excellent video sir, sir, do we have to use probiotic every day when adding carbon source? or how shall we add carbon source e.g . i want to add 1440 grams of carbon according to 100kg fish at 4% feed body weight with 30% protien. same according to your example. shall i mix that molassis directly in the water or do i have to dilute it in water first with probiotic (FCO)or something else. pls .
& molasses me 100% carbon nahi hota usme moisture bhi hota hai thoda sa molasses ka specific gravity se bhi clear kar dijiye

1. The fish excreta and fish feed also probably contain some carbon (70% is non protein) for heterotrophic bacteria. The same also need to be considered in the carbon requirement calculation.
2. Molasses is not 100% carbon. There is considerable weight of H and O as per molecular formula of sucrose, glucose. Then again the molasses are also composed of some fibre (non carbohydrates) material.

One thing crossed my mind, if we use that much molasses everyday that will create crises for it, and think if we apply that amount of molasses is there will be any water left for fish or there will be only molasses? i'm bit confused. Help me out sir. Thank You 🤔🤔☺

It's practical. I'm testing this Ratio from very long time and even my probiotics customers are using and satisfied. This molasses calculation is given by professor yoram avnimelech and I just explained it in my way.
@@FISHVIGYAN sir I've read and found that, fish feed contains about 50% of carbon source. with 30% protein feed we can automatically maintain 10:1 ratio. so that leaves us using molasses only when TAN value is 1.0 mg/L. please take a look online and clarify this to all. thank you sir ☺☺
what i know if 2800 talapia in tank at the final stage it will need 22kg feed per day just imagine how much molasses it will need thats why RAS system still better difference between biofloc and ras is biofloc can be start by poor farmers but running cost will be same water parameters are much easier to control in ras plus growth rate in ras much better then biofloc also biofloc actually invented for shrimp farming then they start fish farming in it.

This is not the right explanation for C : N ratio... This is only applicable for floc development stage... There are many other factors to be considered during the floc maintenance phase. The amount of carbon in feed is 50%, which means you have already added some carbon source which the hetrotropic bacteria can use. Lot of ammonia is removed when you drain out the sludge. If you use feed with low protein content you won't have to worry about ammonia. In short, you can set your C : N ratio based on the protein content in your feed.
Dear George. Obviously This lecture is not a whole story but a very small part of the microbial world. I know each and every factor but can't go in much detail out here.

Whole calcultion is possible wrong or might be right. Kindly tell us below i have mentioned the probelm.
As u mentioned If we are taken 4% of feed of actual body mass (100kg)
4 KG feed - that contain 30% protien - we are giving 1200 gm protien to fish.
Out 1200gm protien 16% is Nitrogen compound or ammonia ... 192 gm ammonia.
out of 192 gm ammonia fish consue 25% +75% (144 gm )ammounia is tranfered as waste.
So looping whole result
4% feed - 1200 gm protein - 144gm ammonia in tank.
To remove ammonia carbon contian should be x10 times...so 1440 gm carbon required.
that means 1.4kg of molasses.
This is some what wrong or right i am not sure . ( ABOVE CALUCALTION SHOW THAT 100% CARBON CONTAIN IN molasses that is not possible).
( People mentioned 50%carbon contain in molasses or some people say 22% carbon contain molasses ). So 1.4kg or 1400 gm contain 700gm carbon (50%) or 308gm carbon ( 22%) ...so that will not sufficent for ammonia to be removed.

In my tank ( 10000 L) water preparation start on last 19 day before, and fish stock on last 4 day , now in my tank flock nahi ban raha hai, from tha 1st day PH is 8.2 ppm and ammonia 0.25 to 0.5 ppm, molasses use in last three day, but no result found. Sir please help me to solve the problem.

Sir, 1st Time preparing the tank, the Heterotrophic Bacteria we use in the water will not have any fish or ammonia. So 1st starting how do Bacteria make floc with only Carbon
Our probiotics contain nitrogen source.

Nitrogen u calculated as 144 grams,but molasis is not only Carbon,so how is it u hv considered molasses whole weight?
C:N ratio is 1:10 where carbon source should be 100 percent carbon since jaggery may contain 50 percent carbon so will have to use 1:20 carbon source.
We have to adjust many things on the basis of production environment parameters. What you meant in this video was pure lab science with lab parameters.
Sir total feed ka 30% protein hone per 16% ammonia paida hota hai to baki 70% carbohydrate se kitna carbon paida hota hai bataya nahi upne.

सर आपने बहुत बेहतरीन तरीके से समझाया और मेरी समझ में यह नहीं आता कि सीएन रेशियो मेंटेन करने के लिए हर रोज जैगरी या मोलासिस डालना है हिसाब के मुताबिक यह तो सही है पर उनमें कार्बन का रेश्यो 50% या उससे कम है तो 10000 लीटर की टैंक में मान लो कि हफ्ते में 15 प्रशन पानी चेंज भी होता है तो भी पानी मे मोलासिस की मात्रा 4 महीने में बहुत बढ़ जाएगी और खर्च भी ज्यादा हो जाएगा.....
मैं इतना ज्यादा पढ़ा लिखा नहीं हूं और यह साइंटिफिक तरीके से करने की चीज है मेरे पास जमीन भी है और पानी भी टैंक भी तैयार करवा रहा हूं पर सिर्फ यूट्यूब पर देख देख कर कुछ नॉलेज हासिल किया है सब कुछ तैयार हो जाने के बाद शायद आप जैसे लोगों का कांटेक्ट जरूर करूंगा फिर भी अगर आप से हो सके तो कुछ सजेशन दीजिए

To fir sir kaunsa procedure follow kare? Agar feed ke hisab se chale to bahut zyada ho ja raha hai, aur agar test kit ke hisaab se chale to wo kam ho raha hai.
Man lijiye mera 5000 litre ka tank hai, aur mera total fish ke weight hai 200 killo. Ab maine test kiya to amonia aya 4ppm. To mera total amonia hai 20gm. To phir mujhe 200gm carbon add karna parega.
Ab feed ka maan ke chale to body weight ka 4℅ yani, 8killo feed. 8killo feed main apka amonia hoga 288gm. To mujhe carbon dena padega 2.8 killo!

Priyankar ji ye calculation hai starting ke liye. First 15-20 din tak. Uske baad carbohydrates ki requirement kam ho jaati hai. Isliye aap ko confuse hone ki zaroorat nahi hai. aap Ammonia check karke uska 20 times carbohydrates daliye.

Initially C:N ratio discussed was 10:1, but in the later part of the video, Ammonia in ppm was compared with carbon course to be added in 1:10 ratio. Little confusing. 2Og of carbon course is needed to eliminate 2g of ammonia in a 1000 litre tank ??

Prati din machli badi hogi yani uska weight badega phir uska feed bhi ushisab se Ammonia yani carbon bhi badhana hoga ye to clear hai sir bus ek sawal hai, normally Prati din kitna weight machli ka badega takey samjhney me asani ho ke growth bhi sahi speed se horaha hai is hisab se machli X din ya month me ithni badi hojaigi.
Prati din 3-6 gram growth hona chahiye magar ye alag alag fish par depend karta hai.
