What about integrating more bright colors like bright red with something absurdly unmatching like pastel pink/blue/purple? I have so many colors and themes I like and picking one is SO HARD!!!!!!!! lol
This is something I’ve been looking into, as well. Dark cave with blankets is basically what I’m going for, so thanks for this! Also, my kitty is always fascinated with watching me light my candies.
I agree a bedroom is all about the bedding!! It sets the vibe of the room. Sometimes I like a damask bedding and I get vampy vibes! And now at Christmas I have a tartan bed set and it's cosy Christmas vibes! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Great advice 🎄🌲🎄
I like this new series... one reason I love your apartment so much is that you mixed in some warm wood like your headboard, side tables, warm wood floors.. and also some light whites (she could also use natural ivory colors instead of crisp whites)I’d say your color palette is black, and greys, and white with touches of gold and warm wood... you have a warm woodsy vide that comes through your dark moody overall style... it definitely warms up your Space.. if people try to go dark and moody but don’t add any warmth and light color in (plus texture, like you said), then they are going to feel really depressed and sad in their gloomy space... I love gold because it reflects light and bounces it around..
Wow, this was my favorite video yet! I learned so much! The color tips opened my eyes. When you showed pictures and commented on what you would change, that gave me so many ideas for my studio. Thank you
Dear Moda, My husband and I have completely opposite tastes. He is a minimalist, likes neutrals, traditional decor, while I am a maximalist, like lots of color, and a more ecclectic decor. It would be so helpful if you could do a video on blending noncomplimentary styles so that everyone is happy. Not necessarily specific to me and my concerns, but just generally, for those of us who do not live alone. Also, does Helo scratch furniture? We bought a new couch and two chairs which our cat, SC, has destroyed. I am reluctant to purchase new again when I assume she will again scratch those, as well. Any tips on pets and decor? Thanks, love your channel.
Great questions!! My boyfriend and I are going to move in together mid next year, and I plan on documenting the whole process! So it'll definitely include content on how to compromise when it comes to decorating!
One of the reasons I am reluctant to get a cat or dog, too needy, destroys things, smelly, disgusting grooming traits. Codos to those who can handle those things. How ever beautiful I think these pets are, it's only surface. I'm not one of those ppl. I wish I were 😌 I would love a beautiful sable colored cat, but my mind goes to the yuckies beyond the beautiful appearance. Ooops this isn about the pets 😆. I digress.
My husband and I own a farm.. so my home decor is antique farmhouse (I have lots of antiques from different family members that I've incorporated in the decor) but my witchcraft/craft room is dark academia/black/witchcrafty decor. Because I love that look, it just wouldn't go with my overall home, so I have it just in one room.
Ooh that sounds lovely! I LOVE the dark academia look. And I'm all for different rooms embodying different styles! That way, you get the best of all worlds 😊
@@ModaMisfit Yes! Exactly. Like my son's room is black/white Scandinavian decor because I love that look too. Lol I love having different decor in different rooms. My bathroom is antique doctor/medical/pharmaceutical stuff. Lol my dad's whole side are doctors so it kinda pays homage to my family in a way. I've accumulated lots of antique medical things so I use it as decor.. in my bathroom. Lol 😂 I may be kinda weird for that idk.
Loved this video,my Daughter and I went to Salem Mass. this year and I'm moving to a studio Apt at the end of this year. I was wondering I have favorite picture can your bathroom not be so dark?
I adore this new series! You did a wonderful job with dark decor tips! also throwing out a suggestion, the plant that I saw on a nightstand seemed too large for that surface, but I think it would look really great on top of that big dresser! Cannot wait to see what videos come out of this series next!
Dear Moda, another great video from you. A bit of an unrelated question here, do you have any advice or tips for hanging pieces of artwork up the wall? What kind of equipment do you use? I have a little bit of anxiety of wall art falling off and breaking, especially when they’re placed above couches or beds, so I could definitely use some tips for it to stay in place. Thank you so much! 🖤
Thank you for the Dear Moda question! I totally understand feeling hesitant about hanging art! I'll give you a quick tip here - I personally use Command strips to hang all my wall art. 😊
@@ModaMisfit I honestly have never heard about Command strips before, I looked it up and I’m definitely gonna give it a try! Thank you for the response!! Xx
I definitely want to! At the time of recording this, she still hadn't moved into the new space and it probably won't be ready for a bit. But I'd love to do a follow-up video when she's done some decorating!
Cats can be attracted to candles! Please be sure to put them only where kitties can’t jump to! They’re attracted to movement and since flames flicker please don’t assume your cats won’t try to investigate them. I thought my cats would leave my candles alone but then my little fluffy girl tried to give one a sniff. Luckily I saw it as it was happening and pushed her back and she only got a singed “eyebrow” whisker. It could’ve been so much worse.
Dammit! I don’t want to destroy the gorgeous comment count (69) but I highly disagree with your colour palette. It’s way more than those two colour… Your bases are black/charcoal AND white and your accents are definitely green AND brown/beige. You have them everywhere! Yes base and accent colours are important but you need more than just two. It’s literally impossible to create dimension and cosiness otherwise. And these colours shouldn’t just apply to most things in the space but literally everything! In regards to colour, it’s important to look at actual colour wheels. There are multiple ways you can work with them. First ,I’m just going to throw words at you, know what primary and secondary colours are, what cool and warm tones are (and that warm colours can have a cool undertone and vice versa), what saturated and desaturated colours are (they can be desaturated with either black or white, though I wouldn’t mix the two (but now that I’m thinking about it, that could look insanely cool…)), what contrast and colour families are and most importantly that you can combine these sometimes contradicting points and that personal taste and intuition overwrites everything! There are basic rules and rules are there to be broken! It’s similar to painting (actual I recommend you to learn more about colour palettes from accrual artists) you first need to somewhat work at an attempt of realism to understand shadows and colour and then start stylising. Otherwise your pictures won’t get better (like people who only draw in the manga style and don’t understand why they don’t get any better at the craft.)
Hahaha Ashley, I totally get that! It can be SO tough to commit when there are so many amazing styles and decor out there. But try thinking about it not so much as commitment, but as a "go big or go home" energy. Like, when you make a styling choice, really go for it!
Good question! I'm a lover of the history and lore of witches, but I don't consider myself a witch - as in, I don't have a practice. My love of witches and what they represent tends to come through my styling in subtle ways. 😊
Thank you for watching! Do you have any questions about making your space cozy and cohesive?

I assume you can get a dark duevay
I have a coco collard couch and love seat and chair
This is something I’ve been looking into, as well. Dark cave with blankets is basically what I’m going for, so thanks for this! Also, my kitty is always fascinated with watching me light my candies.

Ah such a good point about the wood accents! Yes, all the wood in my space definitely makes it more cozy and warm 🥰
you're actually making me believe that i can figure out interior design someday T-T!
Aw yay! That’s my goal with this channel!
100% agree: When in doubt paint it black!

I'm so glad you found it helpful, Amber! Yaaay! Thank you!
Thank you so much! Can’t wait to put these tips into my new house!
You are so welcome Ashley!
Please update us on the FB page once you implement these ideas! Excited to see what your new space is like!

I like the chocolate browns in decore
Thank you! I love a good chocolatey brown 😊
Definitely will make my apartment look something like yours :D
Aw I'm so honored!! Thank you!
So when you say pick a main color then an accent color, do I want to use this while decorating a whole house or just one bedroom? Thanks
The whole house too.

I would paint the dresser black with cut glass knobs or glitzy handles.
You are so helpful and inspiring. thank you. Also, where did your headboard come from?
Thank you so much! My headboard was from World Market. 😊
My cats always love our fireplace.
Great advice ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you!!
I love to spray paint things I find to fit my style if it’s something bright and loud I spray paint it matte black
I love that! Yep, just paint it black - you can't go wrong!

So when do you know to paint furniture vs leaving it its wood stain color?
Really want a tour of your rings/their story and necklace time period and history
Love keeping it warm dark and cozy
What else is better? 🖖🏼🙄😌
Thank you so much!! Yep, it doesn't get better than dark and cozy in my opinion. 😊
It would be lovely if you share the result pictures of this girl taking your advices.
I definitely want to! At the time of recording this, she still hadn't moved into the new space and it probably won't be ready for a bit. But I'd love to do a follow-up video when she's done some decorating!
Could you please link all the product suggestions you show throughout the video?
Decorating is a marathon, not a sprint. A curated space requires time, patience and experimenting.
Hugs are so nice. ❤️❤️
I have a great big bedroom
miss your videos . Will you be back soon?
Thank you for asking, Kate! I'm back now! New video went up today 😊

Thank you for asking, Cathrine! I'll be back to posting in a couple weeks!
