I have the exact same bike No168, also have a HD saddlebag and wanting to get Sissy Bar so the wife feels a bit more comfortable on the back. Thanks for doing the video
Perfect video. Exactly what I needed. The HD site isn't too helpful. Ordered both for the exact same bike (#1298)... along with a ridiculously small pad (the only one with colored stitching). Good to know I bought the right stuff! #subscribed
Appreciate the video! I was actually looking for one that showed how to remove the sissy bar (and luggage rack) because I bought my bike and had those things installed, so, it came with them on it when I got it. While I do plan to keep and use them, "for my taste", the bike just looks more "BOSS" without them. (Even felt the relative decline in the look of yours - again, for my taste, after seeing your sissy bar mounted). But, because my bike came with it installed, I didn't have the instructions and wasn't sure how to remove them to take advantage of the flexibility I was after, so your video was helpful in showing how to remove it! Finally, not that this is or will be an issue for you, just a quick safety note/reminder: According to the bike's specs, the gross vehicle weight rating is 1175 lbs. The bike itself, with a full tank of gas is reported to be 699 lbs. That leaves a total weight of 476 lbs between you and your passenger. So, just be mindful of that for safe handling and operation of the bike! Enjoy!
Glad the video was helpful. As for the look of the sissy bar, I agree the bike looks better without it, however, if we are going to try two up riding, my choices were fairly limited. The best part is that it is removable. I may ultimately switch out a rack for the pillion when she is not riding. Something similar to my Heritage after I stripped it down. All it takes is time and money lol. In time, I will get the bike just how I want it. As for the weight, I am aware of the limit and the two of us come in well below that so that's all good. Thanks for the comment and for watching 🤙
Hey that's really exciting about your order. I bet you are totally stoked. I'm glad you like my videos. I just got a few new parts that I will be installing and will probably video them. Thanks for subscribing, watching and commenting 🤙
Nice audio and video. Clear explanation and I did all myself (though I had out of market sissy bar) (much cheaper ! :-). I was just missing the T40-45 bolts, which I bought from the nearby autozone....
Extremely helpful video! Thanks for sharing! Did you use a torque wrench to tighten those bolts? Asking because that step wasn’t on the video. Thanks again.
Yes. Once everything was together I hit it with the torque wrench set on 21 ft/lb. Glad you found it to be helpful. Thanks for the comment and for watching 🤙
@@Byrds1967 man I'm not sure about how bags would fit on the fatboy. There may be some specific videos on that. Thanks for the comment and for watching 🤙
Sure... the link for the Harley Davidson Compact Backrest pad is www.harley-davidson.com/us/en/shop/compact-passenger-backrest-pad/p/52300555A. I like the red stitching. They also have one qith black stitching. Thanks for the comment and for watching 🤙
@danthechippie4439 that is an excellent question. And the only answer I can give is not scientific and engineers would cringe, but on some things, after many years of wrenching on many things, you just get a "feel" for certain things. Now having said that, this feel is not appropriate for many applications, especially with engines, suspensions and some other critical components that truly need specific torque specs. I have good wrenches for this and use them when called for. I hope that answers your question... thanks for watching 🤙
@nateworthman I had it on my Heritage and loved it so I put it on my Fat Boy. It's great for carrying small "must have" items. And I love the way it looks!
Sir, you make it sound so easy and straightforward. thank you
@@tabou1 glad it was helpful. Thanks for watching 🤙
What a beautiful bike. I would not be surprised if Harley decided on another production round for this model. This is an iconic bike like none other.
Agreed... Fat Boy is an iconic bike... and this year's 120th anniversary is something very special indeed. 🤙

Congrats on #1298! And yeah the pad is small and a bit pricey for what you get but I think it looks great on the bike. Thanks for watching 👍

How do you know when its tight enough with just a wrench? I mean how do you measure that? Beautiful FBOY
