Man left out the part where Ippo caught all 10 leaves in ONE hand Takamura was expecting him to do it with both like he did and just 5 leaves each hand
your right, the author of Hajime no Ippo, as talented as he is, changed the Dempsy roll a little bit. The real one doesn't look like Ippo's at all but it is still awesome
The author changes the look of alot of the punches like the gazelle punch looks like an uppercut in the anime but it's actual a leaping lead hook & while The Smash is portrayed accurately it doesn't show that The Smash can be used in another variation. The anime always uses the uppercut version when there is also a hook version of The Smash that's why it's so hard to dodge or block when done properly cause it can come from multiple angles while in the anime it's always thrown from the same angle. (Which is upwards but it can be thrown around the side) 🥊
I need to rematch this, baki and the original dragon ball from the beginning. I think I forgot enough of these animes to be surprised by the minor things.
+Micheal Medici Welp then find a gym and start training. But to warn you hajime no ippo is nothing like real boxing. Im boxing from a short time yeah but srsly things happen so fast that there is no time to think! In hajime no ippo is different and it looks easy. Im a newbie and one round is hell for me! It looks easy untill you dont start training.
guys this is not just any anime...the things it shows are pretty usefull to boxers :) besides that it has its funny and sad momments....best anime ever i hope it gets longer
I've always been curious about how much the bag weighs that Ippo punched at 0:10 since he's only a featherweight but he sends it flying like it was nothing anyone know?
i used to do korean, japanese and chinese boxing when i was a kid... also a LITTLE western boxing....but now my arms are too weak to throw a good punch... what do you suggest I do guys ? :P
No I was just a normal person and really got into boxing after watching this video. And I followed what they said about body rotation and basically followed some of the training that ippo did like the running on the beach, peekaboo style, and the Dempsey roll training.
I took a walk around the world to ease ma troubled miiind~~ This song is called kryptonite to those whom are inquiring by 3 doors down I think >_> Actually I'm certain lol xD
Yeah I know that lol. (well at least i did after my sparring partner almost broke my nose.) But yeah I'm talking more about the running the tire and the training he does not just the punches.
I agree, if you research video's of Jack Dempsy's fights you'll notice he never ever does Ippo's type of Dempsy roll where he stands flat footed and twists back and forth. He just throws rolling punches while stepping forward. Remember in the days of Prize Fighting boxing wasn't as technical as it is today. Try that realistically and your opponent is going to shoot a straight, jab your forehead or work the body using your weight shifting against you.
like the amv but if you want to be a boxer don't expect the training Ippo gets cause its never like that, not at a gym. I lived in four different countries I know this
Not to sound like a super dick here, but hopefully you didn't actually think the Dempsey roll combo like he does in the anime is actually effective. I like Hajime No Ippo a lot because, despite it being an anime, a lot of the fights feature sound and effective boxing technique. However the dempsey roll as it appears in the anime is 100% ineffective against anyone that knows what they're doing. You try that in an actual bout and you are sure to get knocked out.
Well if you've done boxing before you should know that arm strength is irrelevant to punching power, because you don't tense your arms when you throw a punch. Punching power is all about hip rotation, footwork, and knowing how to distribute your body weight when throwing a punch. This is the first thing any boxing trainer will teach you. Get yourself to a boxing gym.
boxing is nothing like this. this will not help you. I have done boxing for 6 years and I still see no fight where they stop punching to think. you wanna be a boxer. drop the anime expectation cause they will mock you and pound you so you will quit
This is more motivation than rather learning the techniques and training routines of how to be a boxer. the idea is not to expect to box like Ippo, but to keep on trying to the very end like he does!
Tap Or Sleep? The anime was never meant to be true to life. It is more of an insight of the fighters during the fight, their instinctive thoughts and stuff.

Hajime no ippo motivates me to train hard. It's funny how Ippo and I are very similar in personality. He kind of grows on you after awhile. Lol
Yeah I was bullied just like he was

We have the same birthday •-•
i just love this song, and the anime too. this show was one of the biggest reasons why i picked up a pair of gloves and gave it a shot to being with.
That's the same for me 9 years later

I did the dempsy roll in street fight but twisted it up abit grabbing his coat pulling into me before using it
like the amv but if you want to be a boxer don't expect the training Ippo gets cause its never like that, not at a gym. I lived in four different countries I know this
shit, you're missing out
alot of weight tarining and hitting the bag

Not many people know about Ippo that’s bad

true. I get it. alright
i too am a boxer and you have some really small windows after to think and look for openings
also its a thing caled cinematic time the point is that the time flow shifts throughout the show/film you have to get a feel for the flow of time
