  • björk: lionsong taken from the new album vulnicura
the video was created in collaboration between björk, inez & vinoodh and visual effects production house framestore. framestore created two main effects in the stars and the glowing embers that surround björk, as well as enhancing the video’s other-worldliness by extending her legs to unnatural proportions. the exquisite coloring for the piece was done by tim masick of company 3, turning her into the exotic, red-toothed, bronze dancer.

+Míriel Eledhwen (aartbeien) I was thinking about this comparison before I came to this video and before I read your comment! But in my opinion, in the kingdom in which Gaga is a queen, Björk is the Goddess for whom Gaga always bows! No offense intended!! (Sorry for my bad English)

People use the word "weird" like it's a bad thing. Weird just means you have just been taken outside of your comfort zone. Weird means it's not boring! That is true art.

If she does something complex people are not happy because "she's getting too experimental" if she does something more traditional and simple people are still not happy because "she's over and out of ideas". It's a good thing Björk doesn't really care that much about people's critics about her work. I think this video's beauty is in its simplicity, her music is really emotional and she really knows how to reflect those emotions on her face and movements when it comes to shoot a video or performing live. She's a breath of fresh air, and she's always been. She deserves all the recognition she's getting and more.

''Recently, my son said to me after seeing a ballet on television: ‘It’s beautiful, but I don’t like it.’ And I thought, Are many grown-ups capable of such a distinction? It’s beautiful, but I don’t like it. Usually, our grown-up thinking is more along the lines of: I don’t like it, so it’s not beautiful. What would it mean to separate those two impressions for art making and for art criticism?'' -Sarah Ruhl (leaving this here because i think some people on the comments might need it)

This is when you know for a fact she has the blood of a warrior in her veins. I feel like she told us that this album was about heartbreak and we listen to the music and we expected what the visual was going to be. We heard the leak and we were confused because we thought it was going to be dark and somber but what we got was a bright and airy opening song with the darkness sprinkled throughout.... but it never took over. Then she released the cover art and that yellow..... that yellow was strong with hope. She was dressed in all black but was still bright as a million suns... This video knocks me back even further because I feel like what she's giving us is so different from what she normally does. Her mannerisms are amazing (Wagging her finger, hand gestures in unison with syllables of words, side glances directly into the camera) and I appreciate that she can go from this to Black Lake and what ever Stonemilker has in store. I know she has a thing regarding fans... but... I love the shit out of her and her craft. She can do no fucking wrong.

In 200 years, certain of Bjork's songs, like this one and "Hyperballad," will be formally presented in concert halls on distant planets by multicepheral blue-skinned divas. These creatures will have been genetically designed specifically for the task, grown in specially formulated hemaponic gestation pods, and then put through years of strenuous and exacting training. These performers will be held in almost godlike awe by all sentient beings, even the ones who do not hear sounds in this frequency range.

The video has a meaning, now i get it. "Maybe he will come out of this" She refears to her heart/relationship that she shows in the video. The hands expressions kinda look like a conversation with somebody or actually arguing with that person she will may lose. She wants to know why, she wants clarity. "I demand all clarity" You can see the video goes darker and confusing (in that weird colours and constelations). "Once it was simple.... These abstract complex feelings, i dont know how to handle them". And then she wanna throw oil to all of the feelings that confuses her, because she can handle one at a time, but she doesnt know what feeling. (The you can see the oil on her face). At the end i just can think about the video and the song lyrics about a conversation between her heart and brain about how to handle the situation of losing her lover.

Björk is an amazing geyser of creativity and beauty and this song is just one more example.

I wish the top comments on her videos weren't always someone bashing similar female artists. Just enjoy her music (or don't) and stop making imaginary competitions between people who are in the end doing very different things. It's just weird. I never experience things and try to immediately devalue other experiences, people, or feelings based on it, I just feel my experiences and move on.

Its so strange the level of competition between female artists, well atleast in the minds of people listening. It's un necessary and in this case bizarre to compare them.
I don't think Bjork is in the same spectrum of reality as the artists people bring up let alone musical categories. I don't mean that to put them down, she is just doing things very very different different than the things they are. Lumping her and other artists in just because they are women seems illogical

I absolutely love Bjork, for me she is one of the most intelligent and creative artist of our time. The fact people that say she is weird is because we have been formatted to behave and think by the industrial revolution standards, learn how to be a good worker or employee, in school they don´t teach kids how to think or to be creative, in occidental culture people lack spiritual knowledge and emotional intelligence, so many of us are faced with mental problems, that skyrocketed with the pandemic. Listen to Bjork and open your heart and your mind.

    This abstract complex feeling

    [Intro]:
Maybe he will come out this
    Maybe he won't
Somehow I'm not too bothered either way
    [Chorus]
Maybe he will come out of this loving me
Maybe he will come out of this
    I smell declarations of solitude
Maybe he will come out of this
    [Verse 1]
Vietnam vet comes after the war
    Lands in my house
This wild lion doesn't fit in this chair
    [Chorus]
Maybe he will come out of this loving me
    Maybe he won't
    I'm not taming no animal
Maybe he will come out of this
    [Verse 2]
    Once it was simple
    One feeling at a time
It reached its peak then transformed
    These abstract complex feelings
I just don't know how to handle them
Should I throw oil on one of his moods
    But which one?
    The joy peak
    Humor peak
    Frustration peak
    Anything peak
    For clarity
    [Chorus]
Maybe he will come out of this loving me
    Maybe he won't
    I'm not taming no animal
Maybe he will come out of this
    [Bridge]
Maybe he will come out of this
    Maybe he won't
Somehow I'm not too bothered either way
Somehow I'm not too bothered either way
    I refuse, it's a sign of maturity
    To be stuck in complexity
    I demand all clarity
    [Outro]
Maybe he will come out of this
    Or he will feel solitaire
    Somehow I'm not too bothered
    I'd just like to know

lol, did at least half of the dislikers come from people upset that Bjork won a Brit Award over Lana Del Rey?

if UA-cam ever did one of those like “Spotify wrapped” type things where we could see the videos we watched the most, this would definitely be up there for me.

Bjork can dance. This woman is my spirit animal.
