I've had my Sumo serviced by Seiko Australia, it runs a tad fast , but I like that, it's always bang on, I can set it for 30 seconds fast, and it stays there, 😀
Stunning watch. Prices now make this amazing value for what you get. In the flesh, it's beautiful. A favourite in my watch collection. It WILL not disappoint.
Love your reviews, and particularly enjoying the fact that the recent Seiko heavy content is tying up nicely with me wanting to add a new Seiko to my collection. If I could suggest one thing, it would maybe be a bit more macro footage, and some footage in some outdoor lighting shots.
Thanks! Yes I have been adding more in some newer vids but I do have a back log of old vids still not released so new ones probably wont release till mid feb. lol. I'd love to add outdoor and will in summer months. Im in canada and its too snowy!
@@EscapementWatch I get that. No snow here in the UK, but very cold, and the big yellow ball in the sky went missing around September. Keep up the great reviews.
A very merry Christmas and a happy new year to you and your 👨👩👦 too FT 🎄🎅. And thank you for all the great videos you have produced. Even if a few watches were not my taste, I enjoyed watching your reviews. Take care mate, liebe Grüße aus Deutschland 👋
My Bluemo has found a replacement. This model was in desperate need of a Sapphire crystal. The bracelet can go. Crafter Blue rubber straps are worth the money.
Good ! I wait from love from you 💖💘. ( oh wait, someone else already said that ) that’s a beautiful green. You are right about that aluminum. It really is rich looking. Beautiful color. Did you do a review of that mod you are wearing ? Hope you have a great Christmas. I’ve really enjoyed your channel all year, learned a lot. Cheers 🍻
Hahahahahahaha I started reading that and thought oh no is account got hacked very funny. I believe I did review it. Thanks for all the support Michael during the year.
I have the 6R15 Hulk. Yes, big. It's a Sumo! The 12 o'clock marker resembles a sumo loincloth 😅. For my collection. Too big on my wrist. Merry Christmas, ho..ho.. ho...
I agree entirely. Was worried after purchasing this online it would look ridiculous on a smaller wrist. Especially the angle of the lugs which unlike Oris designs are much flatter so a distinct threat of overhang, However no, looks and sits fine especially as the ring of stainless steel around the bezel makes it appear smaller than divers with full ceramic (i.e. Hyroconquest). Also unlike many other divers it doesn't have lug protectors which helps. For those that want a diver that's completely unwearable without large wrists, look no further than the Oris Aquis Chronograph!!
The j1 means made in japan usually. But the ref #s is where it is released in the world. Western is SPB and SBDC081 is Eastern. That's what I have seen
You can get a better seconds hand on ebay, in a set. It has the red on it. I'm going to use a trident 🔱 second hand on my next hulk and a custom linen dial.
I’ve been wearing the exact same watch for about a year now. Much more comfortable on my wrist compared to my Samurai. Kind of agree with your timegrapher. When I first got it, was about +5 sec a day. When the summer months hit, was losing 5 sec a day. Then every once in a while I’ll gain time again. Not very consistent for only a years worth of wear. Been trying to figure out if it’s too close to something magnetic or not on my nightstand at night. I try to keep it away from my phone and some of my edc flashlight with the magnetic charging base. I’ve gone to the degree of keeping that stuff in my right pocket so it stays away from the watch on my left wrist. Also thanks for your video on the Shogun SPB191. That’s the next one I am eying for myself if I can get over the cyclops.
@@HamishCarpenter I couldn't tell you as I have a 7.5" circumference wrist. You should really check your wrist diameter and compare that to the lug-to-lug distance in regards to comfort/look. Lug-to-lug on the Sumo is about 52.5 mm and my wrist diameter is about 2.5" or 63.5 mm. Roughly speaking, a good fitting/looking watch lug-to-lug would be 80 to 90% of your wrist diameter.
@@AirlinersHD I still own it, but it definitely gets less wear time. I am pretty sure it needs a service after about 3 years. It was displaced in my rotation after purchasing a pre-owned Shogun (SBDC029) with the 6R15 instead of the 6R35 that the Sumo has. Not sure if the movements make that much of a difference, but I did get the Shogun serviced, which was about 5 year after it was made. I just haven't brought in the Sumo. FYI cost me about $150 to get my shogun serviced at a local Seiko AD/Jeweler. I like the look of the Shogun more, but the comfort of the Sumo, regardless of the weight. I find titanium a bit more tacky to my skin, which annoys me. Sumo just conforms to my wrist better. The service issue has tainted my experience a bit. However, my enjoyment of the Sumo really has me considering the green solar Sumo GMT (SFK003). Get all the design qualities I want, but with the hassle free nature of solar quartz.
@@xelanihc Thank you very much for such a comprehensive answer. I am very grateful. I have a lot of answers, but I also have another question. First I will answer about your desire for a Solar watch. An automatic is an automatic. There is nothing more refined than the realization that the watch is alive and from the very sight of a hand that floats and does not tick. For this reason I am always in favor of an automatic. This would be the first automatic in my life and the first serious watch. I think I'm adamant about this design and overall everything this watch has to offer. As for the service, I think the story is overblown. 3 years? Stupidity. And if it is really necessary, it is a sign that the watches are not even close to quality anymore. A friend has his grandfather's Seiko Bell-Matic, 49 years old, never serviced. It works like Doxa. I don't believe that I will serve Sumo before at least 5 years. My question to you is, do you recommend this watch? In my life, I have to give my whole salary for him. I would hate to be disappointed. Do you have any flaws to list for me? Thank you!!!
Are the new 62MAS and Willard really that much better to justify the higher price? Obviously the bracelet clasp is better, but what else are they offering? In my mind, the new 62MAS and Willard should have been around the $950-$1,100 mark at most. This Sumo isn't priced badly (especially if you can catch one on sale). I can definitely pull this off with my 7.25" wrist, but just barely. I find 52mm lug-to-lug to be about the max without overhanging at all.
willard and 63mas are more because of history.... sumo has no history. Seiko is capitalizing on their old icons and I can't blame them. Sumo is getting a 50usd price hike soon.
@@EscapementWatch I guess I would be more forgiving if I didn't see/hear of QC problems with their watches in that price range. Maybe that's just me though.
