Zhou Shen Shen loses her voice after a bus accident and gets taken to the hospital by her friend, Zuo Jun, who blames himself for making her mute. There she meets Qi Wei Yi, a boy whose leg got broken by jealous peers. He finds a letter she had put in a bomb shelter wall. They leave each other letters and promise to come back in the Christmas of 2006. They become good friends and fall in love, but Wei Yi is unaware that Shen Shen is mute. When he has to leave before her, he gives her his phone number and tells her to call him.
Years pass and in the year of 2006 ,they met again but is unaware of who each other is until Wei Yi finds out he has liver cancer and is dying. So he decides to go back to the hospital he went to as a child and he finds out that Shen Shen is his childhood love but not wanting to hurt her when he dies, he hides his identity and eventually pushes her away

Though they loved each other wholeheartedly, they couldn't be together. ❤💔😭 Chi Wei Yi had completed all his duties and finally bid goodbye. 😢 Chi Wei Yi is such a pure soul. ❤ I feel sad for Shan Shan. She had the best memories with Chi Wei Yi to cherish a lifetime but she will miss him forever. How I wish Chi Wei Yi would have been alive and Shan Shan would have lived happily ever after with Chi Wei Yi. ❤ This drama is really so good. He was destined to die and maybe as soon as he did, but his father robbed him of something extremely valuable to him in this stage...his "courage to hold on to Shen Shen." This was his courage to hold on and live well as long as he could - for them. After she left he just started tying up loose ends - saying his farewells, even including the hateful dad. He had given up without courage to live. It may have given him, even a pinch, more time. But then, as he thought - maybe Fate had intended they part already as they did. Still...so sad because most of these shows show 'stank' kinda love. Mates choosing to be unreliable. And hey, the doctor got him super loaded to make it to the competition...it's like he's moving in gel or on a life machine but upright not lying down.

I had thought since Fate was so favorable to them that when the boy brought the Chinese medicine doctor back that he would know something would put the cancer in remission to give Wei Yi more time - like he had asked the lucky star. But instead he said at point Wei Yi was at he couldn't do anything for him.😢 Another thing...why didn't Shen Shen ever speak again?🤔 She didn't say goodbye to her friends when they left the house, didn't say thank you for the card she was given, never responded to his doctor friend, didn't talk to him as he slept or the next day... . Maybe because she's used to not talking? Dunno, but it was odd. You'd think she'd be talking nonstop just to hear herself so she could realize it was true and she would be okay.
