For me the male chorus starting to sing always reminds me of when I put on her whispering mask.. and my character slowly turns menecingly towards my companions while Gale screams "Take that mask off, quickly!"
@@CordyBrushMan, I love Larian for putting an entire betrayal plot hook in a small optional encounter, just putting this one small mask on can give you a dramatic AF fight where you try to defeat your own creations

Ethel was evil scum, plain and simple. Crushing her was the pure pleasure of putting down a nasty predator who couldn't be allowed to live. It felt dirty to enjoy it a little but damn she was evil lol.

My personal favourite battle music is from Heroes of Might and Magic 4. Pretty much all 6 of them lol but 2 and 3 are my favourite. (They are simply just called "Battle" from 1-6) but yes I agree Twisted force and nine blades are really close to them incredible bgm

Baldur’s Gate 3 makes me want to unsubscribe from WoW and never give Blizzard any more money ever again. And I just did. In light of Xalavier’s moronic tweet protecting AAA devs from striving to produce quality, I thank you, because you’ve just compelled me to do the exact opposite. I will forever expect this kind of quality from established studios, and it shouldn’t be any other way
Why do y'all willfully misinterpret that tweet? I don't like blizzard, ea, bioware, etc, as much as the next guy. But all that tweet highlighted was the unique situation larian is in (They don't have to bend the knee to shareholders as their ceo is also one of the devs and runs everything how he wants it) which is a fact and why the AAA industry is so fucked. It has nothing to do with devs not being passionate and everything to do with the money they get for making a game coming from some psychotic ceo whose only want in life is to get richer.

This soundtrack, honestly, has to be one of the finest I've ever had the pleasure of listening to, whether it be for a movie, a series, or a game. The instrumental and atmospheric composition is nothing short of masterful - simply perfection.
This feels so much like a witcher 3 theme, I absolutely love it.
The hag fight in general felt like it came straight out of witcher. Could've very well been geralt hunting the hag on a contract by the brothers of the girl.
Not like The Witcher 3, but like 100% battle music in a fantasy world. Do you think there were no such battle songs before The Witcher 3? there were millions of better battle songs than those before The Witcher 3, I advise you to play through the old RPG games first before comparing everything to the overrated THE WITCHER 3.

I can't help but to feel this song is an orchestration of the battlefield. The strings, especially 0:50, as bows shooting arrows, The choirs casting ominous spells. The drums sounding like melee fighters strikes, all answering to each others, in a turn-based rythm.
This one is the best! I remember hearing it for the first time on Nautiloid and it was such a banger!

Knowing how game awards are paid advertisement, a Call of Duty game or some sports game like FIFA will get the arbitrary GOTY awards.
@kalythai What do you mean? I don't think COD or FIFA have ever won GOTY in the history of the ceremony. The majority of the games of the year in the past decade have more than earned it, most of them being big single player fantasy games like Witcher 3, GoW and Elden Ring. FIFA might win like Best Sports game or something, but that's just about it. I can totally see BG3 winning GOTY.

I went into the Auntie Ethel fight extremely unprepared, this theme only added to the sense of dread. I love it though.

It's strange. Even though this is the main battle theme, especially in Act 1, and plays when you fight almost every other fight, whenever I hear this theme I always think of Auntie Ethel first.

What I love about baldur's gate 3 song is the battle music starts of oppressive and it's like fighting a losing battle. But then, you hit a lucky turn and kills an opponent, then the song starts being more optimistic.
When this song starts playing, I press F5 just in case. It makes me feel I'm battling some BBEG.

Whatever instrument they use at 1:00...it sounds like an animal screeching but also like metal being scratched...and I love it. Particularly because of the screech similarity because you first hear this in Hell. So it makes sense. First time I heard it I thought there was someone suffering in the background and it just added to the sense of urgency because I could be next. Of course I realized quickly it was part of the song, but I can never unhear the screech. Loved it. Absolutely loved it.
It's the hurdy gurdy I think, also this plays in the nautiloid as well as a few other places before then
The singing is fantastic to listen too, this really feels like a dangerous fantasy battle.

I cannot love the instruments enough. It all sounds like the music itself is straining or being corrupted by something nefarious. Be it the Shadow-Curse or a Hag's spells, it feels like something is about to go horribly wrong.

I am Bulgarian and i dont know why but hearing this reminds me for the tales of old, tales of mighty kings and cruel Khans. I assume you are with Slavic/Balkan origin to and i hope this is where you got the inspiration for this song. Amazing as always your songs helped me years ago to escape from dark places (mentally) and move on and finally got my life together. Hope to hear many of your songs in the future and play many more Larian games.

It almost feels like a Medieval version of the Empire's March.
The male choir and drums gives it a sense of dominant/powerful/authority with the hurdy's low tones and flute at the start giving it a Wild West "sinister" vibe.
It's the perfect type of track for an antagonistic and powerful force to showcase their strength to.

Sinister. That was the first word that came into my mind when I heard this song too. I won't be surprised if this song had an alternate name as "Sinister force" considering they are more or less the same as "twisted"
