It's absolutely amazing how something so big can be so gentle and graceful. I feel like seeing this first hand would almost feel like a spiritual experience.
The whale has definitely had contact with humans before who probably had a scrub brush to scrape off the barnacles. The whale exposing itself in such a way made it look like thats what it wanted.
This was one of the best videotaping‘s I’ve seen of humpback whales, or any whales!!! I loved all the women’s voices! Plus the one man’s voice also! Everybody seems so joyous and happy and ecstatic to view this whale, this humpback!!! Love the gleeful talking & ooing & ahing & things that were said! Beautiful voices and beautiful people, watching a beautiful whale!!! Loved all the matching suits/snowsuits?! You all must’ve been on a paid outing/whale watching… And where were you all? Somewhere way north, or could it be even south/Antarctica?!
Thank you for this lovely reaction! It was one of the best experiences of my life. We were on an Antarctic wildlife cruise and we were as ecstatic as we sounded!
Amazing that the whale knew to be very careful not to bump into the boat. What a graceful whale. I wanted to clean all the barnacles off so badly lol, I hate those stupid things. You were so lucky to have this experience. The sad part about whales being curious and friendly is the damn Japanese and others who hunt and kill the whales in large numbers. They need to be stopped.
Always amazed at how careful these enormous whales seem around small vessels; what must be precision movement control when they are so closely, curiously engaged with us, but seem to 'respect'? our fragility, boat safety etc. Also, given they exhibit friendly contact, bumping etc when with other whales (esp humpbacks).
Yes, people ask me if I was frightened by this encounter but the answer is "Not at all!" We didn't ever feel in any danger. I think Humpbacks are especially wonderful.
They are very careful even when in playful mode. I have seen a video when a humpback whale lifted a tandem canoe with its people on it. Very gentle lifting it up, move for a couple meter, and slowly bring it down
Oh man I hope this is me one day. This sort of "up close and personal" with a humpback whale is one of the 2 top things on my bucket list. Oh boy, these creatures are just God's love swimming around in the ocean. And then there's how they save other animals from orca... oh boy, that's all I can say.
I hope it has happened for you. These are magnificent creatures, so graceful considering their size and truly gentle giants. I go every year and it never ceases to be amazing.
Yes, we were never worried that she would bump into us. It was a very moving experience, but you are right that it is worrying that the Japanese may benefit from this "friendliness" and kill her. I think that is why we were told not to touch her, so she wouldn't be persuaded to come close all the time. We appreciated that she did though!!!!
@@shirleymike2936 How did whales ever survive for so long without humans? think about it you want to help them get back and clean up garbage stop using plastic
You are so lucky.. My eye are watery. Love these creatures, seen so many similar videos, they never attempt to pumb into the vulnerable boates. Why can't their hunters have such a heart?
Whales are very intelligent, they love any chance for someone or something to get those itchy barnacles off. Being the most amazong gentle giant in the ocean has its disadvantages. Id hate to be so itchy all the time! The doggies of the sea, sweet sweet creatures
I absolutely love Whales! I have wanted to touch one for as long as I can remember. Would you mind sharing your thoughts and feelings on your own experience dearskate?
For the many of you who accuse us of being stupid for not removing the barnacles, we were expressly asked not to touch her, so that she won't get used to human interaction. I don't think you could pull them off anyway without damaging her skin. All humpbacks seem to have many barnacles attached to them. You can't remove them all!
I think your getting grief from folk who take barnacles off of turtles and figure you can do the same to a whale I think sometime whale will scape against rocks and something time boats to get some off I'm sure if "Gloria " had want to to rid her self of some of them she would have bumped your she was getting so close I thought she might.
The whale: “Hey, get outta my bathtub.” People: “OoHh, look at that” The whale: “Here, I’ll spit on them and see if that works” People: “Ooooo, it blew water on us” The whale: “Well crap, that didn’t work” The whale: “Will you at least take these stinking barnacles off my nose?”

I love humpback whales. They’re such social animals, and an amazing bond with their babies. Beautiful animals. I have to go whale watching 💜💙😊
It's absolutely amazing how something so big can be so gentle and graceful. I feel like seeing this first hand would almost feel like a spiritual experience.
It did. We were all highly emotional after the encounter.
What an amazing beautiful gentle whale, what an amazing experience to have such close contact with her
THANKYOU so much for sharing your experience it does your heart good to see beautiful human beings appreciate wild gentle creatures
Amazing, you have no idea how much I want to take those barnacles of her. Looks like Gloria wants to play, I am so jealous.
The whale has definitely had contact with humans before who probably had a scrub brush to scrape off the barnacles. The whale exposing itself in such a way made it look like thats what it wanted.
The whale wants barnacles removed. How would you like ticks eating and growing on you all day long?
Poor thing probably wants those Barnacles off of it. They gotta be incredibly painful. Parasites.
I get the feeling maybe they want people to brush off their barnacles! Maybe carry a heavy duty brush next time and see what happens?
jeanette bowen I know that Grey whales love to be scrubbed with a scrubbing brush! I have seen it done in Baja Mexico.
I think the brush idea is wonderful...something like the large brooms used by janitors.
I want a job doing that and collecting trash in our oceans that would be awesome. Its so obvious that is exactly what this animal wanted.
jeanette bowen yessss I’d love to scrape them off!!!
Everybody wants to be scratched. So why not them.
I'm so happy to see the whales approaching these little boats with trust and curiosity. I hope we will always be worthy of this trust.💕🐳💕
This made me cry! So amazing, these record keepers are intelligent, graceful and full of love!🌻❤️🙏🏼🐋🌍

She probably wants you to get them barnicles off of her. Very beautiful.
What an Incredible opportunity to experience such a magnificent creature

She's like... scratch ma belly... please???
I get the feeling that the whale is spouting mist more to get a reaction from the humans than anything else. What a neat encounter!

Adolescent humpback whale: MOM!! CAN WE GO HUMAN WATCHING!?!
Mother humpback: *SIGH* All right sweetheart, but only for a little bit.

Once in a lifetime experience. Beautiful
I'm just wanting to climb through the computer and be there in person, they are so beautiful.🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
the red color attracts her ,whales love this color ,( jackets)
Wow! I pray I get to have an experience like this one day. So beautiful.
I pray you do as well. It was an experience I will never forget.
She seems very curious about the boat to me. I don't see her rubbing against it. Beautiful video.
She's trying to get rid of the barnacles.
i would love to hummer those barnacle off it
Incredible

Evicting a few barnacles! What an amazing experience 😃
Why doesn't someone take the barnacles off of Gloria?

I can't with those freaking barnacles
I bet she understands "beautiful;" and "amazing" - even my baby nieces understand
What an amazing experience! a powerful and majestic beauty ❤️
Yes, it was completely unforgettable.
“I dont care about elephant seals” 🤣 well getting close n personal with Gloria isnthe most amazing experience! 😭❤️
What an amazing encounter - very fortunate.
She is stunning I hope they don't hurt her those damn barnacles
She did not rub against the boat and showed no evidence that she was trying to remove the barnacles.
dearskate , Thank you for giving us that information and responding!
Soooo many giant barnicles. Use a brush to scratch them off
You are so lucky.. My eye are watery. Love these creatures, seen so many similar videos, they never attempt to pumb into the vulnerable boates. Why can't their hunters have such a heart?
Yes, I felt very, very lucky. They behave so much better than we do. I cannot understand why anyone would want to kill them.
They are asking for help to remove barnacles, he rolls on his back showing so you can see the barnacles
Yes, I really think she would love to have the mass of barnacles on her chin pulled off...
Can't get any closer to heaven than that
Living submarines!
I wish to have an experience like this too!

If I was a wale I don't think I could resist flipping the boat over just for laughs.
Mark Kulyas Well fortunately they’re better than that. We didn’t have any fear of that happening.
Whales ask for help in removing barnacles from their underside. They roll over to show us.
Look at this, look at that... JUST LOOK AT IT!! Ed bass master anyone?........Love the footage
That whale was acting like a pet
Wonderful how these huge whales don’t accidentally knock into the boat. I can imagine the whale is enjoying the people.
That's amazing! And you uploaded the vid right on my birthday!
I hate people fishing for Birthday wishes.
Those barnacles must be a real pain to live with.
Some videos you just have to turn the sound off.
Think everybody there took enough pics??
Stunning
I hope to experience an encounter like that before I die
Did any one else see the rainbow.?
I absolutely love Whales! I have wanted to touch one for as long as I can remember. Would you mind sharing your thoughts and feelings on your own experience dearskate?
There is no way to remove the barnacles
You lucky people.😊I have to do this.these are amazing creatures
I would be pooping my pants instead of taking photos
She's extremely intelligent..
We need to make whale wash from shark tale a reality.
I am thinking of "Your are so vain" from Carly Simon....
Actually she is trying to remove barnacles by scratching on the boat. She needed help.
All whales have crustacea on them. This whale didn't seem to be in any distress. He/she was just showing curiosity towards us.
Somebody pet the whale already.
She went upside down for you to remove those nasty barnacles.

I wonder if whales fart. Wow
Sea dog go wants tummy rubs, come on human!
I bet the comment about the "leopard seal" went down well.
She was posing
I wish I could get some of those damn barnacles off they look annoying
And what about the damage one might cause with a "brush." Best to get advise from knowledgeable person first.
I was in the company of one of the world's most knowledgeable experts at the time, on a whale watching boat.
