Used to buy a lot of blown HD, XFL and VFL subs from Bob, years ago. Known him for years. He's a few hours north of me, here in Ohio. Haven't been up there in a few years.
I'm surprised AB went with an aluminum coil and stiffish suspension on there SQL focused subwoofer, the XFL is the similar built sub but more SPL focused. The XR has 3" with 200oz double stack and XFL has a 220oz triple stack. I can say my XRs my boy has now seemed super stiff but still got loud and dug deep on even lower power, those 2 XRs flex his Tahoe big time somehow on my old pioneer 9701.1 1200w amp. They really hit super hard on my 5k. But when he finally pops one how would a copper coil work out? I'm hesitant to mix it up where they perform so well and somehow don't bottom out even with a shallow motor. Another really odd thing is the 12" version has the same dual 1" slug motor but with a different back plate it has a bumped back plate vs the 15s flat one... Why hell is that id think they would use the same motor for manufacturing expense...? Is the 12 more likely to easily move more or softer suspension? Why not use the bumped plate on both? The XR 10 is even cheaper and pretty badass where it still has that pretty good sized 200oz dual slug motor which is nice n big motor for a 10...
Right now I'm trying to get the orders out for the Gonzo Junior motors and that's taking all of my time and also I'm behind on orders so I don't feel right doing that cuz some people feel like I'm rubbing their face in it that I'm not fulfilling their order

Got a modular 3hp. Yup bolts from the side. Uses the lightening audio style frame. Got a question. Will the gonzo jr bolt to the soundqubed baskets? They have a 5.7 (145mm) bolt pattern
Sorry not this time The both hole patterns that are on there are the 127 135 and 160 mm but you may be able to add one of those bolt hole patterns to the frame that you have

@@mattsnider5904 they can take over rated power if it's clean power. I had mine on an Orion xtr2500.1dz and that amp does well over the 2500 rms it claims. My birth sheet for my amp was 2997rms at 12.4 v and I have a 250amp alternator and 3 batteries so I'm 14.4 every test I've seen done in the Orion amp is insane big d wiz showed almost 7k at .8 ohms
@RobotUnderground have you had any experience with AB refurbished subs . Been running AB for awhile the elite and XR. Decided to try a pair of the VFL 8 inch subs for funsies . Got a good deal on them because they are refurbs by AB. When I got them they have a differnt cone , surround and dust cap . Looks like quality work still just wondered if you ever came across any of their fefurbs .
No difference on refurb. All the soft / moving parts get changed out so it's basically new. That's one of the reasons I give a 3yr warranty even on my recone works. Nobody does that but me.

The ab hawk may be the best value in car audio.. do your homework.. it's basically the old dd3500 design.. same basket.. motor 240oz .. 3 in coil.. the spider pack may not be exactly dd quality.. but they are a mirror spider pack. perform well.
A lot of things to be misconceived here. Size of the slugs will never represent the force presented at the gap. I see you note on so many videos about how big the motors are or, making these monster woofers that have got to sound absolutely terrible. There’s a certain precision in design that you are paying for when you buy from someone like Jacob. This is why Sundown is and will always be more successful then what you and a lot of others do. Quality means you get what you pay for. You rebuild cheap subs on the daily because they are built… you guessed it. Cheaply. I’ve been doing this for years, a lot of things you rant on about seem to be quite inconsistent with the reality of audio.
Seriously if that where the case than u guys need to put some more research and design and actually come up with something new..A whole new design for a subwoofer and not burn people who don't know better for a damn name brand or logo on a dust cap

Chinese Bass ,same thing as every other subwoofer nothing special, the 88120 motor is definitely not the modular removable assembly one. I have a eclipse 88150 currently in my car and you for sure can not take it apart. That was the next model number up. Basically close to the same woofer but modular or top assembly removable
Nah some you could they used variations of the tc9 and 7 for years on those some had the side mount deal some didnt. Every 88150 ive gotten over the years has had a slightly smaller tc9 motor on them too bit shorter than the ones on the 8812s
Hopefully the rich people keep messing with subwoofers and dont get anymore brilliant ideas to travel to the bottom of the ocean
