- Rushing to get things done before we leave the country again, so this is a fairly quick video. Steve is taking his long time employee (and her husband) on a dream trip to France/Switzerland, thanking her for her many years of working with him as he begins to wind down his career. Tammie has never been overseas, so this is a really big deal for her.
I had to head out to the cliff to get one very important piece of gear for the trip, so to make it worth my while, I took out a few extra things and took home a couple of extra things. I nearly finished the stupid dog food cabinet again!
This is a backpacking trip, so keeping things light is key. I am not really taking any camera gear - just my phone I think! I was going to see about playing around with doing a few 'Shorts' videos after this one comes out, for those interested in the trip.
The siding on Clifford will have to wait till I get back, but luckily that shouldn't affect the videos too much.

In that tone painting of your puppy at peace on the veranda, at one with the beauty of that timeless view, you’ve crystallised why you had to craft the cabin and share it with your family.

I admire you so much for not editing-out the upside down crampon segment of your video. It's so authentic and that's what we viewers love about you. You laughed so hard when you realized what Steve was pointing out. It was such a great self-effacing laugh that I had to replay it a couple of times! I admit that I also didn't see it upside down until Steve pointed out the error.
The way you truly love and care for your four-legged fur babies is so endearing. What a lucky bunch, especially Clyde!

I've been meaning to point out an observation I've had for a while. I've noticed it several times when you've looked directly at the camera. Hi Michelle, you and Steve have a wonderful ski trip with your friends. Stay safe and well. My daughter & son-in-law have their Jan 2025 ski trip already arranged to Switzerland. They did Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, in Dec of 2023. Love the beautiful view from the cabin deck of the lake and mountains. Look forward to yo finishing the cabin when you get back.

00:14 That is a beautiful view! I was lucky to take several trips to Switzerland in the mid 70's while stationed in Germany. I was a bit of a photo bug back then, and the thing that striked me back then was that you could not take a bad picture in Switzerland if you tried. It is one of the most beautiful places in the world, whether Summer or Winter! Hope you guys enjoy your trip .... take care🏔⛰🎿

Drones aren’t allowed in these mountains! Too many choppers.
That rope looks great. Many years ago I spent a pile of time making hundreds of feet of trim from both hardwood and aluminum replicating rope just like that. The company I work for builds windows for historical locations, the originals had rope, the new ones are efficient and very weatherproof. I think they’re somewhere in your neck of the woods now.

Sounds like an awesome trip. I did many seasons in Verbier back in the 90s. I never did the whole Haute route but lots of bits of it! Hope the weather plays ball. Enjoy!
