  • Religion is the foundation for all thought - the wrong religion will ruin you and your people
Yet no-one talking about religion (that I've seen) can actually peer into it on a fundamental level and understand what it actually is
    WHY it matters emotionally
HOW it has to be SEEN before it can be TACKLED

    On psychology and religion:
When educated society generally agreed that the universe is a cold dead machine - Christianity tanked
This was bad because suddenly our lusts no longer meant "Satan!" and our considerate behavior no longer meant "Christlike"
    We became emotional messes
In order to solve this, several thinkers tried to put together a set of ideas that accepted the "cold dead machine" worldview, but also made sense of ones emotions
Freud was a famous example, though Nietzsche is unsung as laying most of these foundations
Freud basically took the "will to mate" as the driving force in our emotional lives and many of our issues as the result of us not having the power to get hot lovers
i.e. you hate your father secretly because he is the alpha male in the house, you are neurotic because you can't get laid
If you were getting that sweet smash you would be happy and fulfilled
Basically, how to understand your emotions was tied to understanding their roots in the desire for sex
Jung liked all this... but thought it was very cynical regarding religion and individuality
"We're just sex robots, and religion is a tool for priests to get social status"
Jung wanted to assume that there was something in us that wished to become great not for sex, but for some type of artistic fulfillment
i.e. I just want to experience what its like to sing like Pavarotti, imagine that power pouring out of your mouth
This was a problem, as it required the universe to be more than a cold dead machine - but in fact a place that for some reason wanted human excellence
This precisely contradicts with the modern educated position of what the universe is - a dead machine - hence most don't take Jung seriously
Jung certainly didn't help this by getting into his theories of the collective unconscious, synchronicity, and quantum theories
He was terrified of being "found out" and discredited, and you'll notice that Peterson NEVER brings up this side of Jung
Nonetheless, I think Jung's idea of human's striving for excellence is great and a much healthier position to take then Freud's
It's something Nietzsche, Jung, and JBP all share
I'll touch on all this In this video and more

I like this approach way much better. Christian apologetics (especially) tries to justify and make excuses for itself to the cold dead machine or 'The Whole Show' as C.S. Lewis calls it. In opposition to anti-theism you pose instead the refusenik approach where you criticise and lay bare the paucity of Modernthink, the machine model of reality and propose one supportive of human life. In the end, you cease to find conciliation with materialism, you reject it and say you won't eat crap. There are a few boyos on the internets hoisting that banner and I think you know who many of them are. Keep up the good work.....^^.......

I believe that I myself am coming into a sort of Hermetic Pantheism. When beginning to take seriously the notion that "ALL is mind and the mind is ALL", the argument of god pantheons, heavens, and hells all being imaginary doesn't quite seem like a valid refutation.

@@uberboyo Steph, I used to think that Nietzche and Jung were opposite ends, but you and James did well in illustrating the contrary:
Nietzsche's raw, earthy Will to Power might've been sort of the "teaser trailer" for Jung's numinous, new Living God of the "Red Book". We "killed God" by making him / it / us this external abstraction, so we now have to be the virgin mothers of our own reincarnated God / selves.

Agape is the greatest of the Christian virtues, as Paul tells us: it is the true way of the
Christian. But why? Because it is good, i.e., a virtue?
Not exactly. Agape is a road along which one
travels in imitation of Christ, to penetrate to the core-deepest ontological layer-of suffering (his
passion and crucifixion), and there, if you follow that road-and that road only-you arrive at the
secret: the Resurrection-which is the miraculous conversion of suffering into ecstasy, which is
uniquely the Christian miracle; this is how Christianity and Christianity alone solves the problem of
suffering. This solution is not a philosophical, intellectual understanding (e.g., why there is suffering)
but an event: the dramatic conversion of suffering, not into mere stoic apathy, the mere lack of
suffering, but into its affective and ontological bipolar opposite: ecstasy-and here, precisely,
Dionysus-Zagreus enters; Jesus “is” Dionysus-Zagreus as a solution to suffering; this is not just
ecstasy but, more, ecstasy as the conversion of suffering. (This conversion is not found in the
Dionysian-Orphic system; ecstasy is sought for its own sake.)

38:43 Well since I'm soon graduating and will be a chemist I will put my thougts about this here because this is in the middle of my territory. Intention is a tricky question because if everything is chemistry that automatically creates determinism. Chemical reaction always reacts the same way, with the same speed and energy, in the same conditions. This means that everything is just aftermath of the beginning. That means that the beginning defined everything that happened and will happen, and we are basically just watching a movie. We don't even have a free will, only illusion of it.
39:37 Oh yes they should react, and today we even know how that reaction happens. Brain cells have certain chemical states, and when that state get's a certain stimuli it reacts. Meaning that there is a programming what get's a reaction and what doesn't. That programming is mostly due to your DNA, but also made by your upbringing and life experiences. We are biochemical robots. Human is the only animal that reacts to art, as far as we know, but there's a reason for it. DNA. When we hear music for example, it set's a reaction cascade that releases endorphins. Endorphins are a chemical signal molecules that cause another cascade that together with the previous one gives you that emotion.
40:03 And that is problematic that we think we are only rationality. That's so small part of us. People don't realize that we mostly follow our emotions and we mostly react emotionally. It's so automatic that we don't even notice it. We are emotional creatures first. That is our foundation. Everything has it's purpose, rationality and emotions. There's balance.
In the end the chemistry is just parts used to build a construction. It's not the parts where the beauty is, but in how they are used. The blueprint. We shouldn't concentrate on what we are made of, but who we are.
44:21 There are different kind of people. Discovery through rational thinking has given me the biggest satisfactions in life so far, and it is what I live for.
45:00 Couldn't agree more. Beautifully put.

    • @uberboyo
      @uberboyo  4 роки тому +2

      Brilliant, thank you!
The determinism one is a big deal I find, perhaps God set the game in motion - it would be interesting to match modern chemistry and determinism to the ancient Greek notion of "we are playthings of the Gods"

    World evolves into the Body
of Christ; world as pieces that seen acting and operating together became-were now-Christ as
cosmic body. So it is world first; or rather they, as plural pieces, are world. Then they come together
so that the they becomes an it, one body made up of all the many objects and processes that were-
that had formerly been-the world. The lower plural evolve into the higher unitary. This was one
process seen two ways, seen inwardly and outwardly. Yet you could still say, “His body was
camouflaged as world. World was transubstantiated into Christ’s Body.” But it isn’t Christ’s Body
posing as world; it is world becoming-joining together to form-Christ’s body. Again: it is a cosmic
evolution. Not the higher invading the lower but the lower evolving into the higher, with pieces of
world added element by element to complete and perfect this titanic body, a body so vast that I could
only comprehend dimly enormous-infinite-volumes of space, space such as I had never conceived
or apprehended before. Larger than the universe, which in comparison is merely finite. Limited. And
all of it was alive and all of it thought. And the pieces didn’t just happen to fit together; they didn’t
just haphazardly come together; Christ himself searched for the pieces, took the pieces, placed each
piece of the world in place correctly, integrated, beautiful, a kosmos, a macrokosmos that was good,
beautiful, pleasing and harmonious, where all the many parts that had been world interacted as one
    unity.
    * And yet absolutely in no way was this vast body anthropomorphic; it was not a human body. It
was a permanent body that continually became more reticulated and arborized and complex and
perfect, that had once been world.

To share-experience-the joy by the Godhead as it invades-expands into-the animal
kingdom, lost to it all these many millennia! The repair to the damaged Godhead! Yes, it is a selfrepair, a reinhaling, a recovery of part of its lost self. Christ reknitting the decomposing cosmos and
restoring it to God. Christ moves lower and lower, deeper and deeper into the decomposing cosmos,
down layer by layer, starting with man. Thus the vision of Christ at and in the trash layer (stratum) is a
vision of ultimate and final repair.

You take the text (which is linear, sequential and digital) of “Acts” and convert it into
a world: objects in their mutual arrangement. (“Acts” is part two of Luke.) What is the basic story of
“Luke-Acts”? Jesus Christ. But when you turn it into a world, although the narrative is still there,
Jesus Christ cannot be seen (i.e., as an object among objects). The linear, digital text is now a gestalt
(Bild) and is read simultaneously but by the right hemisphere. (The linear digital text of course as
narrative is read by the left hemisphere.) Where now is Christ, if not an object among objects. He is
missing. Then you discover that in a unified total gestalt (pattern) read simultaneously by the right
hemisphere analogically Christ is present as the pattern itself: as unified totality. The puzzle is
solved. “Luke-Acts” is not a verbal narrative about Christ-i.e., referring to Christ-it is Christ

The introjection of Christ into the system is certainly the epitome of the adding of ex nihilo
newness, of revitalizing creation as if from outside. Thus the term “Christ” has to refer to any and all
newness choices wherever and whenever they occur; “Christ” is the zero-one binary disjunctive event
per se, and so is always now and always here. We see it and understand that we see (and experience)
Christ, and this is newness, re-creation (in an unending process of creation). Christ never arises/occurs
as a result of the past, as an effect of antecedent causes; he is always born “from outside.” Hence his
epiphany can never be induced or predicted (by definition). Christ is that which does not follow
mechanically: he always invades world. To see, then, that Causality is not observed, that the “effect”
is in fact not an effect at all-of its Cause-but is ex nihilo new is to see-literally, not symbolically
-Christ. Hence where there is Christ it is always the case that there has been “a perturbation of the
reality field,” something acting on it, intruding on it, invading it, “from outside.” In terms of
mechanical cause-and-effect Christ can never be said to be a normal event derived from the
    antecedent system.
Without these periodic insertions the system would run down; it would lose shape, organization
and vitality. Cause-and-effect, then, taken in itself, is a losing game. The only thing that Christ can be
said to be a result of-Christ as an event in the reality field-is the need of this event. It is physically,
mechanically causeless; it is absolutely teleological. Efficient causation has no bearing on it and will
never yield it up. (Here Pierre Teilhard de Chardin is totally wrong: world is not spontaneously
converging into the Point Omega; what he calls “Point Omega” is something done ceaselessly to
world, an endless invasion.) Wherever the effect is correctly seen to exceed its cause (which is then by
definition not its cause) there is Christ. Conversely, wherever effect follows cause actually, there he is
not. Christ, then, is an event, something that occurs in and to the reality field; Christ is not a person as
men are persons. Christ is the beginning of the universe all over again, as a repeated event.

All "religions" (or philosophies/ideologies, but I repeat myself) seem to leave a bad taste in my mouth anymore they all want to deny some aspect of life (what religion explicitly worships life, including death!) , what religion in it's current form can be said to be life-affirming to all, the great people in the traditions taught different paths to that which might be called salvation (truth seeking, moral goodness,silence,child-bearing and/or rearing, war, manly despair, love, and etc).
If you did want a religion of sorts it should explicitly affirm life in such a way
Maybe something more like Nikos Kazantzakis said in the sequel he wrote to the Odyssey "Though life's an empty shade, I'll cram it full of earth and air,of virtue, joy, and bitterness." or in Dune "If you need something to worship, then worship life - all life, every last crawling bit of it!", to worship life in and of itself. As for the metaphysics, this is tricky, but I think something could be done with panpsychism (e.g:The view that all matter has consciousness.") that would also reasonably explain emotions, make sense to a modern (or even perhaps an ancient), and be compelling and inspire us to some kind of great movement. All these words though, just go fucking experience being and all these paths don't be nailed down to any traditions, but don't take from them without gratitude you're like a blind man collecting colors
Inb4 Orthodoxy or Catholicism shills in replies

I think this is a good take - the term "becoming" is extremely useful to articulate this... sadly it is jargon
But basically, when you stand upon a mountain peak and stare across the horizon, and feel a huge rush of chemicals that carry a feelign of awe... that is the joy of becoming... that is living... that is "correct" worship
How could this be made the center ritual of a religion? that is to say... the common assertion of "goodness" and "right behavior"

    • @XYZ___976
      @XYZ___976 4 роки тому +3

The problem to me with trying to make that the center ritual, is that "becoming" (and being to a lesser extent) seem to require spontaneity and religions modern main method is rote learning and rules which seems incompatible to say the least. To solve this within the context of a religion alone seems impossible unless you're close to one of these great people of the traditions or willing to veer off on your own and have an extremely personal relationship with your religion or to develop the quality on your own and bring it back to the religion (assuming you didn't have it beforehand/naturally which is probably better). Something fundamental seems to have to change/be changed for any of this to be fixed for large # of people.

Christ, and that this secret nature of Hebrew Scripture was only revealed at the time of the first
advent. In a certain mysterious way, then, the Torah “encloses” like a shell the knowledge of, the story
of, Christ, and therefore is Christ (but God concealed this even from the prophets through which he
spoke). Thus there is a secret accord between the two Testaments. This is why Jesus had power over
the Law (Torah), not the law (Torah) over him; it is fundamental to Pauline thought that Jesus Christ
is master not instrument of the Torah, and this fits with my perception of Jesus that day I read Luke:
he possessed unlimited miraculous powers such that reality itself (physical law: the moral law of the
Torah and the physical law of the cosmos form a unity, deemed heimarmene by the Gnostics) was
under his jurisdiction: it obeyed him as a servant. He revealed himself, even then (before the
resurrection), as Pantocrator. Having died and been resurrected he vanishes into the very reality of
which he is master, camouflaging himself (as Eliade discusses) and lives on in and as that reality in a
certain mysterious way, especially (as Mani taught) in the innocent vegetable kingdom but by no
    means limited to it.
(He has a special affinity to it because it suffers without causing suffering; it
sacrifices itself to feed the animal and human kingdoms.)

Hey Uberboyo, someone in my recent video comments mentioned that you're at a point in your journey where you're trying to choose between paganism and Christianity. As someone who emerged from the world of the occult and ended up becoming Orthodox Christian, I'm happy to chat with you, either privately or in a YT video, if you're open to that. Perhaps with God's help I can show you why what the Church possesses is so far superior to everything that came before (and after) it.

To see or experience the literal real presence of the savior in the doomed sufferer is perhaps to
have penetrated to the heart of Christianity. I witnessed it myself; I know by divine revelation. And
since Christ can and does become all living creatures (since all suffer undeservedly and die) he, like
Brahman, is ubiquitous (immanent) in the universe, moving toward a final disclosure that the universe
is only a form which God assumes, and that the ultimate result of this so-to-speak self-inflicted
(unknowingly) pain on its sentient parts is to restore to those parts their memories and hence true
identities. They awake, remember, know, and rejoin the urgrund. (“Tat Tvam Asi.”) So the unfair
pressures of an unknowing causal-and casual-universe reawaken the one sleeping mind in its
pluriforms. And so it encounters itself, who or what has inflicted undeserved pain or who or what?
God as creator or God as Son, and the 3rd member of the trinity, the Holy Spirit, is the agent which
effects this “blitz” or catalyst of remembering.
The jolt to remember lies in the very quality of the undeserved; puzzled and horrified by this
undeservedness, the organism must search for and must find not just an answer but the answer. It
becomes the sole key problem, and he knows that the key to everything lies in it. If he can grasp the
meaning of this he will possess all meaning.
I did not work out my “divine substitution” view theoretically-or a priori-; I saw it. Lived it
through revelation from the deity. I saw that suffering (undeserved) could not be avoided (again
Timaeus), but I also saw the most beautiful and touching mystery of all: the bringing into being by this
    crushing process the Redeemer Himself.

In no way did Paul see Torah and Christ as progressive (evolutionary) stages in one
(information) organism. In fact who has? (1) Not the Jews, certainly; they revere the Torah as
absolute. (2) Not the Christians; they revolt against the Torah in the name of Christ: the concept of
evolution through qualitatively (and radically) different stages is unknown to them. That the Torah is
an earlier form of Christianity whose later form is Christ-no one sees this. Note: it would be wrong
to say: (1) the Torah as an earlier form of Christ; or (2) Christ is a later form of the Torah. Neither
statement is true. Both are stages of the so-to-speak third organism, and there is now a third and final
stage: Joachim’s spirit, in which each man has his own personal Scripture in his head, and each is
unique but recombined out of the info of the prior stages. This is an info entity, living info. It is
subduing and permeating the universe order: (organization) = info.
It does not become old and ossified; at the end it plays as a child like a free little animal.

I believe I've solved the disconnect between matter and consciousness, and it has to do with the Von Neumann Chain. A series of experiments by IONS sought to test whether consciousness, in particular focused attention, had any effect on quantum systems, and the data appeared to illustrate that. But if this is true, why are we special? Why not a computer?
Unlike a computer, when we get entangled in a quantum system through our senses, we process it recursively through our nervous system, allowing it to further collide and entangle with the resulting states of our neurons, weaving reality together into a braid of singular reality.

Most fields 'diefy' themselves. Memes being memes.
As for the idea you present, again, very similar to 'will' in schopenhauer, with the diffrence that you impose a 'meaning' to the struggle. Or should i say a positive meaning to struggle. While he does the opposite, either negative, or 'indiffrent' depending on how you see it.
But just as with him, one has to ask, if you can 'interprate' 'metaphysical' struggle as a goal, as being part of some greater purpose, as being "a part of the universe". Why not do that regardless?
Meaning is afterall something we seem to impose on reality, as we have seen from history, and here you are presenting a new idea, or should i say an old idea, a meme.
Anyone who can accept it, should accept it if it gives their life meaning. Afterall there is no way to tell if its 'true' in any higher sense.
For everyone else, its just an old idea in new packegeing. And im not sure if it will 'solve' this problem.

We have intelligence AND fingers, which meant our ancestors could use tools, which aided in survival. Cooking our food caused our brains to grow over the centuries. Civilization affords us with language, which preserves information, which causes us to survive longer and longer, keeping the good traditions and throwing out the bad... except Christians aren't throwing away the bad, they are calling it their purpose in life. I wonder if dolphin gods are shaped like dolphins...
