She skated pretty good for someone who had so much negativity toward her. It's interesting that in her long the Triple Lutz & Triple Flip were both better than anyone else's. In the short her Lutz had a step out & her double flip two footed. Yet she nails them both here! Ironic! If she had a better short she would've placed higher than 8th.
Ya'll who call Tonya fat or sluggish - could you EVER accomplish 1/100 of what this young lady did? I am sad for Tonya - think she was one of the most gifted & hard working athletes EVER but sadly she needed familial support to completely accomplish all - she didn't have that. Regardless of the Nancy Kerrigan kneecap incident, there should still be plenty of respect for Tonya. A multitude of male basketball & football drafts with plenty more guaranteed dollars attached have not only botched opportunities but been given long prison sentences. Yet Tonya, who never served jail time, is judged as harshly - if not more so.
Anjong Your being very ignorant her husband and body guard were the ones who wanted to take Nancy out Jeff was very abusive towards Tonya he knew he couldn’t let her know about it because she would be the first to go to the police He let her know the things he thought she should know he was a very dishonest and manipulative person she said she heard them talking while she was practicing at one point but there wasn’t enough information for figure out who they were going to take out what time and place either it’s not her fault one bit.
@@the_wild_one813 People dig up dirt to try to implicate her... that's what's known as backstabbing... that's what the Crooked judicial system does! Historically a lot of innocent people are serving time in prison... some have been exonerated through DNA testing!
Same Here I always liked Tanya, her upbringing just made her more the ppl's favorite over Kerrigan in my opinion...I dont know why she thought she had to get involved with fools just to gain fame, she would have been alright on her own merit even if she didnt win.
I first saw Tonya Harding when she was around 14.... I had no idea she could be winning the silver or the gold.... I wanted to introduce myself but she was so busy on the ice, I didn't!
I love Tonya, definitely, but I do have to admit, she did seem somewhat sluggish in this rendition of the program. And, in this particular case, I have to agree with Scott Hamilton; it was most likely the result of not completing full run-throughs of her program in the various practice sessions that she was allotted. I don't think that was entirely her fault, though; the stress and strain from the hawkish paparazzi that incessantly tailed her, in Norway and at home in the US for that matter, probably made it next to impossible to rehearse. We know it was difficult for Nancy as well. Nancy was the victim of the attack, but speaking in terms of media attention, there was absolutely way too much emphasis placed on Nancy's ever-so "fragile state" of emotions at the Olympics. We all know that's a crock. I'm sure the media glare severely hindered Tonya's confidence, as well, and we all know she didn't have the most self-assurance by default, ANYWAYS. Further, this particular program was fitting ONLY if it was truly filled with plenty of energy, I noticed. When she did it at the US Nationals, I liked the Jurassic Park Long. But here, it really tanked in my book. In fact, the only things that I thought were excellent were her triple Lutz & triple flip jumps.
When she really went for her jumps, they were spectacular. High, long, smooth landings. Unfortunately, she didn't give the spins and free-skating movements the energy or attention she did in her earlier years. Her in-between skating became very canned.
I remember right after Nancy was cracked on the knee, before Tonya's name was involved, a reporter asked her what she thought about Nancy getting atracked and she said "I see dollar signs". I knew right than she was involved.
As many problems as she had, she was still a better skater than that crybaby Nancy Kerrigan. She wasn't even the one to hurt Kerrigan, but she was punished about the same. The worst part is that when Kerrigan ultimately won the Silver medal, she was unhappy with it instead of being grateful for it. And didn't Tonya win a Gold medal before she was stripped of it and banned?
She didn't win gold as far as I know, but YES, she was treated poorly because she ignorantly associated with people who DREW HER DOWN and sadly she was from SUCH a bad background that she didn't realize she was doing wrong by associating with them. THAT is what is hurtful about this. The poor girl COULD have done so much but was taken down by her poor upbringing by crap family.
Why you call Nancy crying baby? If someone hits you're leg you will be a crying baby too! She felt pain! That's why she cried! What do you wanted for her to do with so much pain? Being happy? You know it's painful thing...
I think Tonya planned the whole attack on Nancy Kerrigan (never liked Nancy, either). She may have had the triple axel, but that's ALL she had--she was about as graceful as a two-ton truck. Somebody writing in Sports Illustrated said that that red costume looked like "an elephant trainer's costume she'd outgrown ten pounds ago." OUCH! But I have to admit something--that shot of her father after Tonya's performance moved me deeply--there was her daddy, supporting his little girl. She may have had the mother from hell, but at least she had the support of one of her parents. Good for you, Tonya! I wish her well.
One of the most gorgeous triple lutzes ever!

She WAS sluggish though. Simply slugging across the ice.
The US media backed the wrong ice princess. She was by far the superior skater.

I've always wanted to see this program in HQ thank you for posting!
through all the crap Tonya still is the most athletic skater of the time....you cannot take that away!!
Sure you can. By saying WGAF she was a thug. She also screwed over the Canadian skater with her crap that night.
I first saw Tonya Harding when she was around 14.... I had no idea she could be winning the silver or the gold.... I wanted to introduce myself but she was so busy on the ice, I didn't!
Tonya Harding is the world's best ice skater and she still is she has never been surpassed!

omg it’s fantastic

Some of your top athletes came out of the ghetto like basketball football and boxing none of them were being condemned!
Tonya Harding would have never sabotage or put her ice skating in jeopardy... she had toxic spouse with evil doing!
The best to ever do it! Tonya is the greatest!
Super!

5.3?
Nothing to take away, she gave it up when she retired in 1994
@ 4:46 what was thrown on the ice
I wonder why she didn't do a Triple Toe Loop jump in this program?
She doubled it…it was supposed to be at 3:04

Karma is best served on ice
I never liked this skater at all...she is not elegant at all and has no class. Nancy Kerrigan was the contrary. That is why she hated her so much!
