These actors might not win oscars but they have a talent for being badass and playing off of each other. Like Chris said, the comradery is great and charisma is off the charts. If you know what it is going in and still watch then you'll enjoy it, unfortunately the same couldn't be said about the third and first movies
this was my dream come true film. you had Sylvester Stallone whose my favorite actor since I was little and Jean Claude van damme whose my favorite martial artist both having a huge impact on my childhood and for the first time they are both in the same film. This was a classic nostalgic gem that I will always cherish
Much better than The Expendables I love this movie it's fun and hilarious and the plot wasn't great but was much better constructed than the first one!!
Totally agree, my favorite 5 action stars are Stallone, Schwarzenegger, Willis, Gibson and Van Damme, and saw them together in the same movie (I know Gibson wasn't in Ex 2 but he will in Ex 3) it's fuing awsome, by the way Chris HemsWORST, has nothing to do in this movie, Sly used him to kill his character and keep the original expendables alive.

Hey Chris, I love your reviews-- they're consistently entertaining, insightful, and informative :) great review.. I'll see if i can drag some guy friends to see it with me :p
“Are you gonna kill me like a man... or like a sheep?” I just rewatched it today because yesterday I bought me a 1/6th scale figure of Jean Vilain (vídeo in my channel). Van Damme was the best part in this movie for me. Merry Christmas!
I found Liam Hemsworth to be the absolutely worst part of this movie. If you are out-acted by 80ies actionstars you know you're doing a terrible job. His 'bad acting' wasn't the fun kind of cheesy action over-the-top thing, it was just kinda painful to watch. Other than that I freggin' loved this movie.
I haven't seen Expendables 2 yet, but I do feel like the first film was still self-aware of itself, but in a subtler way. I have no doubts that the sequel will be better, but for what it was (an introduction to the characters), I thought it did so very well. Eric Roberts gave a great performance, and the chemistry between Statham and Stallone was awesome.
+ Reb Brown, Steven Seagal, Chow Yun Fat, Donnie Yen, Michael Dudikoff, Billy Blanks, Nic Cage, Carl Weathers, and Gary Busy (as the villian) for Expendables 3
Hey I don't know! I'm not making the movie. But I don't think they will have many recent actresses, maybe only a few like in the Expendables. But may I ask you how Jessica Alba is an action star?
agreed, I am very sad that he is retiring, and he do deserves it, but I hope he make a cameo in The Expendables 3, he don't have to do any fighting stuff, he just has to speak and I find with that
could you imagine the epic stare down with Eastwood coming out gun in hand does his whole gran torinno "get off my lawn" with everyone pointing guns at each other
about poor King Cobra of course :D BTW the director's cut of first movie was better than original theatrical release and I totally love both of them now.
I am glad that this movie was enjoyable, especially since I considered the last Expendables film pretty dull. If the dialogue and story are not up to par, at least have engaging and numerous action sequences. I thought the previous Expendables action scenes were mediocre, and so I was too focused on how bad the dialogue and story were. I am glad they cranked up the action in this one. It is the only way to compensate for some really cheesy dialogue and virtually non-existent plot.
I was disappointed with the first one. Save for a few good action scenes, it was just boring. When this one comes out on DVD, I'll be willing to take a look.
I'll love the day, when Expendables 6 comes out and everyone of us, who saw the first two Expendables in theater are like "Expendables 6 has no deep characters or clever plot! They are so much inferior to the classic Expendables. Good ol' times" :D
For action movies, the Expendables series has a surprising lack of nudity and cussing,a and while those don't bother me, it's rather refreshing. Guns, explosions, and badassery. I'm happy!
van damme and Sylvester Stallone should have a good shootout then a good fight scene,I would've enjoyed that more. van damme should get more bad guy roles cause he plays them well.
dang although i do agree he is a badass.. i don't think he fits. just because these guys come from cheesy old school action movies. neeson is in great action movies but not so much cheesy.
Come on guys just like Chris said if this movie even tried to take it self seriously it would fall flat on its face it would be laughable to see all these legends trying to make an Oscar contender , plus its just fun to watch all of them mindlessly fighting together.
I fell asleep to the first one. But I am planning to see this one because of more action, more awesome action guys, and less plot :) first time I probably will ever want a movie to have less plot.
i watched both Expendables and in Expendables 2 i laughed the most. i mean, you could tell what the plot is. when and how things where going to happen. who would die when.. and i laughed my head off when Chuck Norris came into view.
I thought that this is the best action movie ever. I'm not shitting you. It was funny and made fun of itself. Perfect. NOT A HARDCORE ACTION! Everyone acted very well together as a team. 2nd best movie of this year for me. TDKR was first :D.
What made me mad was the team never missed. Say 6 against 20 with submachine guns and they kill all 20 of the enemy. Throw a knife across a large room and it always is a perfect hit. Come on. I was on a army pistol team and I have sometimes missed.
If the movie's better it's because Stallone didn't direct it.I liked Simon West's The Mechanic a lot more than Con Air, and a new one coming Stolen with Nic Cage and Malin Akerman looks like it might be good. It's too bad Dolph Lundgren, with all he has going for him, getting into MIT, being strong enough to put Stallone in the hospital with one punch, never became a good actor.
I like the first one but I adored this one
These actors might not win oscars but they have a talent for being badass and playing off of each other. Like Chris said, the comradery is great and charisma is off the charts. In this review he kinda contradicted himself in the expendables 3 review
That's what I was thinking
Bruh he straight up does
Because the 3 one is very bad. Still same thing but all of the praise here do not work in that movie because it missed everything
Gseemz ...or he grew a little bit.
@@thefirstbourne149
Grew up what? The movie is for old school action fans.

this one is the best of the franchise!!!
All respect to Liam Hamsworth but It would be better if the movie have Liam Nelson instead of him. Now that collection would have been complete.
We need an Expendables 4 ☺️
Thrust me buddy you don't want it
Delete this. Please delete this...
Just saw this movie had a big smile on my face the whole time and laughed my ass off at certain parts. Great film.
Is it gonna be a prequel or spin off? If so that would be awesome! Ellen Ripley meets Sarah Connor! :D
On the whole I like the second one better, though I wish they hadn't dropped Jet Li so early.
Liam
Dont forget statham, Li, and ford
It's Liam Hemsworth.

I was waiting for you to mention Chuck, as soon as you said his name I got the chills... true story. And hell yes to Ron Pearlman!
Great review Chris. Saw the midnight showing. It was awesome. Going again tonight after work. Yes!!
Chris, I was looking to see if you had a review for the 2009 Star Trek film and I couldn't find one. What are your thoughts on that movie?
If number 3 has Sam Jackson, I'm in. Ford and Neeson would be awesome too.
Now I've got to see this! glad to see you respect the Ol School mega action dudes, they are classics!
Hey Chris, I love your reviews-- they're consistently entertaining, insightful, and informative :) great review.. I'll see if i can drag some guy friends to see it with me :p
I cannot find any Stuckmann reviews of VAN DAMME films. If he hasn't done any? he should. Even in retrospect????
Just watched it. Was good fun and thankfully funny in parts. Though it needed less Chuck Norris and more Van Damme.
I loved the first one. I'm so excited for this second one. Going to see it this weekend!
How was it ?
@@-_-Mastermind-_- lol You're asking after 8 years?

you have a brilliant way of thinking man and I respect that and I am just saying everyone should take it easy and chill out every once a while ;)
I like the action in the first one & i'm glad that the second movie has even more action. That's all I need.

+ Reb Brown, Steven Seagal, Chow Yun Fat, Donnie Yen, Michael Dudikoff, Billy Blanks, Nic Cage, Carl Weathers, and Gary Busy (as the villian) for Expendables 3

+ Antonio Bradareas wesley snipes, matt damon, Tom Hardy, Al Pacino, Steven Segal, and will smith
The villain in the first one was from the movie “Assassins” with Sharon stone, another classic 😎
agreed, I am very sad that he is retiring, and he do deserves it, but I hope he make a cameo in The Expendables 3, he don't have to do any fighting stuff, he just has to speak and I find with that
I'm fourteen years old and my brother took me to see this movie, I am now a full grown adult.
How big are Arnold and Bruce's roles compared to the first installment?
i liked the first one, so i guess im in for a good time with this one :)
could you imagine the epic stare down with Eastwood coming out gun in hand does his whole gran torinno "get off my lawn" with everyone pointing guns at each other
What camera you using?
I agree with you, but it'd be impossible to put all those guys in the same film. The Earth couldn't handle that amount of awesomeness.
what about kate beckinsale , sarah michelle gellar , jessica alba , angelina jolie ?
about poor King Cobra of course :D
BTW the director's cut of first movie was better than original theatrical release and I totally love both of them now.
Found out it starts on Aug 30th here.. I am so gonna be there on the first day
I am glad that this movie was enjoyable, especially since I considered the last Expendables film pretty dull. Mr. T, Danny Trejo, Jackie Chan, and Dos Equis Guy are awesome but sad to say Jackie Chan is retired for action movie
If they do, they better include Meryl Streep as the "mother bear" type character and Scarlet Johansson as "the rookie".
Great movie : no plot, bearly any dialog, lots of shooting, and one-liners. 10/10
Jackson, eastwood, ford, neeson, and snipes were approached for the third movie
Expendables 2 is awesome
Christopher Lambert was in the Highlander and the first Mortal Kombat movie as Raiden and some more good movie
Third movie need to have Kurt Russel, Christopher Lambert, Samuel L. Jackson, Clint Eastwood, Mel Gibson, Sean Connery, Harrison Ford, and Liam Neeson
I really hated the first film .. but .. mr Stuckmann ... I trust you. I'll give it a shot.
True I really want him to be in there, but I think he say he retired from action movie
I was disappointed with the first one. Save for a few good action scenes, it was just boring. When this one comes out on DVD, I'll be willing to take a look.

Jackie chan in part 3 please! I loved the film, might go see it again!
For action movies, the Expendables series has a surprising lack of nudity and cussing,a and while those don't bother me, it's rather refreshing. Guns, explosions, and badassery. I'm happy!

3rd one needs Liam Neeson, Samuel L. Jackson, Clint Eastwood, Harrison Ford and Morgan Freeman to narrate !
one thing i hated about the movie is the overuse of cgi, and wtf happened to jet li ? but it's still great, reminds me of commando
I liked the first movie, especially Mickey Rourke's performance.
Will see this one when it comes out here in Austria.. in the first one the bad cgi-blood really, really took me out of it
awesome review chris like always!
i was dying during that scene as well.
it was so funny i still have to smile when i think about it
I wonder if Snipes is an option... oh or Vin Disel
Chris, please review Bullet to the Head trailer with Sylvester Stallone
dang although i do agree he is a badass.. i don't think he fits. just because these guys come from cheesy old school action movies. neeson is in great action movies but not so much cheesy.
This one is the best! The third is almost as good and the first was okay.
Tom Hardy is an absolute must.
Eric Roberts was the villain in the first movie. Expendables 1 i thought was fantastic cant wait for 2
and Samule L. Jackson! That would be badass!
sure thing , she was in fantastic four , but if you don't count that ,she was dark angel :)
forgot morgan freeman, robet downey, nicholas cage, denzel washington, danny glover, and steven seagul
show your bluray collection pleaseeee
Yes they already signed Nicholas Cage.
Come on guys just like Chris said if this movie even tried to take it self seriously it would fall flat on its face it would be laughable to see all these legends trying to make an Oscar contender , plus its just fun to watch all of them mindlessly fighting together.

E3 needs to have Harrison Ford,The Rock,Bruce Campell join tha team..and Kurt Russel be the bad guy,and Clint Eastwood be the REAL MAIN BAD GUY !
the only good thing that can come out of a movie with gibson and jackson, is if they both argue with each other over some BS
Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson in number 3...for me.
where was jet li?
yes, it is but it also was an "Entertaining" to some point
i watched both Expendables and in Expendables 2 i laughed the most. i mean, you could tell what the plot is. when and how things where going to happen. who would die when.. and i laughed my head off when Chuck Norris came into view.
Chris, how does con-air compare to Cobra with sly Stallone ( the greatest motion picture ever made by humans)
has a third one actually been confirmed?
I thought that this is the best action movie ever. I'm not shitting you. It was funny and made fun of itself. Perfect. NOT A HARDCORE ACTION! Everyone acted very well together as a team. 2nd best movie of this year for me. TDKR was first :D.

"hes not good, but hes awesome" lol
Am I the only one on the planet who thinks Dolph Lundgren's acting was pretty good in the first one?
a lot better than 1 especially cause there is more arnold
Jean Claude van Johnson
Taylor Lautner was originally supposed to be in the film.
Steven Seagal needs to be in the third one as well.
A king cobra once bit me, after 5 days of agonizing pain, the cobra died..
dear gaia no! no danny trejo. if they add him they have to add Ron Pearlman.
The first two Expendables movies are good and I'm excited for Expendables 4.
Don’t bother….
i want to see tony jaa , jackie chan or donnie yen in the next one , :)
Do I have to watch the first one to see this one?
If the movie's better it's because Stallone didn't direct it.I liked Simon West's The Mechanic a lot more than Con Air, and a new one coming Stolen with Nic Cage and Malin Akerman looks like it might be good.
