Are there any Android apps or general Smartphone Functions that are Disabled when mirroring? When using a Music Player app on your Android Smartphone and mirroring to the Head Unit, is the AUDIO transferred over USB???... Or is the Audio transmitted via Bluetooth or WiFi to the Head Unit, while only the smartphone's screen (video) is sent via USB??? I currently own and use the DDX9905S and DDX9906XR. The SQ of both are EXCELLENT!!! No issues with that! :-) HOWEVER, I'm very sad to see that after 3 years Kenwood is STILL using the same ole' very dated Year 2000 GUI !!! :mad: The GUI on >$200 Chinese Android head units blows the Kenwood XR head units away! (Sure, they suck in most other aspects, but the GUI is usually great!) And none of the GUI and actual functionality problems with the DDX9905S that I have were updated or fixed with the newer 9906XR! :-( And the DDX9907XR looks to be the Same Exact GUI. SMH :-( There has only been ONE Update for the DDX9905S since it was released in 2018, and it didn't fix ANY of the problems I had with it except for a little bit better connection reliability with Android Auto via USB. Kenwood just DOES NOT SUPPORT their products with needed firmware & software updates! Once you buy it, you are STUCK with it, they don't GAFF. Come On @KENWOODUSA, it's 2020! There are A LOT of things wrong with this User Interface. A bunch of us have a LONG thread about all of the issues with these "eXcelon REFERENCE" units on the DIYMA Forums. And LDAC for Bluetooth??? WTH?! VERY FEW smartphones have LDAC compatibility. *Apt-X* and *Apt-X HD* are compatible with WAY more devices...like the bazillion Samsung Galaxy smartphone models that are in the wild. YES, otherwise the SOUND QUALITY is EXCELLENT with these XR head units , but am NOT compelled to buy another Kenwood due to the lame & sucky GUI and functionality issues that still remain on my 9905S & 9906XR. *IF* the Android Smartphone MIRRORING actuality works well on the new DDX9907XR, AND the AUDIO is transferred via USB to the Head Unit, then that bypasses all of Kenwood's native GUI & functionality shortcomings.
