The Big 10 spent so much time asking, “are the PAC 12 teams ready for the Big 10, that they never realized that they may not have been ready for Oregon!
As a Duck fan, I really didn't imagine Oregon will go undefeated in the BIG 10 the first year. I still think they will win the NATTY. I have a feeling they will this year.
If they win it all, I think they’re in the conversation for the greatest team ever. Because after going undefeated in the regular season, they will have to go through some mega behemoths to pull it off.
Oregon has been a consistent top-25 program for the past two decades, and under Dan Lanning’s leadership, the team is poised to continue to ascend. Historically, the Pac-12 (formerly Pac-10) has been one of the nation's premier conferences, and the notion that it lacks toughness is both unfounded and rooted in misconception. As for the Big Ten, the addition of programs like Oregon doesn’t diminish its stature but rather enhances its competitiveness, adding more high-quality teams to an already formidable conference.
You're right about Will Stein's offense but I really think the biggest part of what the Ducks do is finding the QB who can make super quick reads and who are accurate. Running is a big bonus.
The fact that tOSU had arguably the best roster (on paper) this season and still lost 2 conference games clearly illustrates that talent is only the beginning. Oregon has been good at developing mid range prospects into NFL level talent for decades. Justin Herbert was a freaking 3 star prospect, ffs! Dan Lanning is just different, and it’s starting to show up big time on the field.
Oregon, UCLA, USC, and Washington have been consistently in the top 25 before they moved to the B10. just saying. Also, the PAC-12 had a positive overall record vs the B10.
Oregon is now out-recruiting Ohio State. 2 years in a row now. I do think they are going to at least be _in_ the B1G championship game more often than not.
Will Oregon spark change? I say yes… especially since every school has basically followed the Oregon outline over the last 5-10 years. But, as far as this year is concerned, going into 2024 as an Oregon alum, and dare I say it, expert… I knew our success was gonna hinge on getting the right quarterback… And that obviously worked out. And now it’s easy for the rest of CFB to understand why he chose Oregon over Ohio State. Now let’s jump ahead to 2026. Oregon will have an even better roster in that season, and they’ll likely be the favorites to win it all, especially if they win it all in 2024. They also play Ohio State and Michigan again, but in opposite locations to 2024. The real question is 2025, since Oregon could take a small step backwards or a medium size step backwards. They are losing a ton of senior defensive starters, many of which arrived in Eugene with Dillon Gabriel. But what makes 2026 such an obvious juggernaut is the elite recruiting classes Dan Lanning has put together. But that’s also the reason 2025 could be special. If Lanning can find replacements for the pieces he loses after this season, and the youth movement steps up a year early, then we could be looking at a major dynasty in Eugene. Especially at a Big10 championship level. Because Oregon is at a 7/10 to 8/10 level right now, in terms of what they’re capable of doing. But Lanning and Oregon is also capable of reaching 9/10, if he wins Oregon’s first national title this season. And if that happens, and we hit a 9/10, I think the recruiting Oregon will get will inspire change at the top of the conference. Because if they hit 10/10 before the big3 make those changes, then it might be too late. It will be an unstoppable force at that point, and the only thing that will stop it is a retirement from Dan Lanning, or at the very least, a new destination for the Missouri native. Namely that team that’s in Kansas City.
When you talk about off the field. You forgot that Oregon took one of Ohio States five star recruits. Also Oregon and Washington only get half shares on the TV deals. Eventually they will full shares but for now they only get half shares.
@ Na’eem Orfford is a five star Corner Back. He is 12th overall all and the number two corner back. He was on the sideline with Oregon during the Ohio State Oregon game. He was committed to Ohio State. He just signed with Oregon. That game was even more important than people realized.
As I reflect on the season coming into the B1G I thought the rivalry between Oregon and Washington was heated. That Michigan vs. Ohio state hate is insane. I watched plenty of B1G podcast/UA-camrs and that rivalry is intense. I hope the middle tier of the B1G ups their game and makes the conference more competitive to be able to rival the SEC in the years to come.
I think if you went down the line and started matching up the 1st best BIG to 1st SEC and on down the line you'd be surprised how competitive most of those games are. As much as the SEC would line to make you think, no their 4th best team isn't better than the conference champion from the BIG in any season.
@RyanFairclough 1-4 I totally agree. I think the way Penn St is playing has a real shot at beating any of the 3 SEC teams in the playoffs. I'd love and could see Georgia and Tennessee losing early leaving 1 SEC team. Selfishly I want Tennessee to move on for Oregon to embarrass them. Though an Oregon vs Ohio St would be a great rematch.
12:58 One thing I think you might be overlooking is there's a decent chance with the introduction of a bigger playoffs, conference championship games might be going away again unless there's a tie with no head to head tie breaker. Carson Beck is ground zero for why that will likely happen. If there's a clear undefeated team in a conference, people aren't going to want to risk an extra game to try and win.
~ Oregon going undefeated in the Big10 this year, wasn't really that big of a surprise... The Ducks were literally the second betting favorite, close behind Ohio State...
I think the operative word is "changed." The biggest thing is the playoff bracket. You can see that the old guard does not want Oregon to win another game.
I love it if the Ducks could help elevate other teams. Make everyone better. Get more of these players ready for the NFL. Make the national championship not just an assumption the winner is from the SEC. I’d love it if the former PAC 12 grows and competes with the others.
Your B1G champion school only getting half a media share -- while Purdue and UCLa and USC and Northwestern get a full share -- is kind of trash, and an embarrassment.
@@The-Team-Out-West Nebraska is only all defense no offense. They're always belittling and making fun of our DUCKS. They still think they're still a powerhouse. Majority of their bloggers are arrogant. Where are they now? They're bunches of laughingstock
When you have uncle Phil with an open checkbook they just out bid everyone else. If things don't change they will have a great run the next decade. Besides unlimited money they do have an excellent coach who is a motivator and has a great staff around him. Was lucky enough to coach a high school basketball player who went to Oregon and he loved it and still does. Go Ducks/Fight On USC!!
Talking about just cash, they do not "just outbid" everyone. They pay top dollar, but Division Street does not spend way over market rate. They do offer some unique benefits, like getting your own shoe and such. Lanning is an outstanding recruiter. And I think the kids' moms have the hots for him 😊

It looks like the B1G has to adjust to the Ducks rather than the Ducks adjusting to the B1G.

There were several teams that spent more than Oregon so why didn’t they do better? I’ll tell you why money is only one factor.
Oregon didn’t even rank in the top 10 in NIL spending this year. Combined they didn’t touch what michigans new qb is going to make by himself.
