The module bay definitely takes these to the next level. I still rock my first pair of goggles, the Sky02s V+. If I’m ever able to upgrade, these are a sweet choice. Thank you for your take on them.
Still rocking my sky zone o2os and love them!!!!
Great review Albert ! I love these Sky04x goggles Definitely worth the money with that module they come with and hdmi port in case sharkbyte becomes a thing. I hope they do because I cant afford digital yet lol, thanks again.
Albert, I had put on my ev300o and I kept feeling like I was looking down a barrel unable to quite see the full image. Now it makes sense - the size of the lens itself. I can’t seem to get my face all the way close to them and it’s driving me nuts. Makes me wish I had the sky zone.
Also have been considering Orqa for the fpv connect - but at least I now know what was bothering me so much in the ev300o. Good video!
I’m in the same boat as you
Could we see a video on dual receivers on one of those goggles? Also could we put 2 different receivers?
Thanks for the video, got mine pre-ordered, waiting for it to get shipped.
Few things I’d like to know:
1. Adding the fat shark’s shark byte on it. The fit and how it handles latency, if its just as good at hdo2 or better.
2. Running two rapid mix, you can take one out from your ev300o.
3. I was planning to use the rapid mix and the tbs fusion, not sure what your thoughts are, might be good to demo how well they fit as well, just for people who want to put in other modules.
Same latency for Shark Byte has HDO2's as far as I can tell. You can run two rapidmix modules for quad-versity but it doesn't work in combination with other third-party modules. All other modules only work in single module mode.
@@AlbertKimTV damn, got to but myself another module. LoL
Finally.. a review talking about fit. Lol great job. Comparing the narrow faceplate yo the gold standard. Had a lot of trouble deciding what goggles to get since I have such a big ass head.
It was a struggle getting setup without trying a pair on. I haven’t ever commented but I do watch your stuff.
Connect soon cousin
The wide faceplate on these SKY04X fit my wide head a lot better. Never gonna go back to Fatshark again.
Thanks for the review! But with the DJI price getting lower and impending v2 this really makes it hard to decide 🤣 but this sky zone doesn’t have 60fps dvr right
Wow 499 for a pair of analog goggles
Ask what a Fatshark HDO2 + receiver costs
Are you going to test the quadversity with the spare module of the ev300o?
Yes, I will probably try that later.
Quadversity?! Is that a thing?
@@paul77ibew683 yes, you can put 2 module on those goggles. Each module do a mixing then the goggle will chose witch module get the best reception
To me quadversity would be the stand out feature if it was significantly better
I have these in white and love them
Pretty impressive, Albert! They really look fantastic! 😮
The image from the camera... Even that seemed much better!
Great review as always!!!
Stay safe there! 🖖😊
Thanks! 😃
Great value for someone who is thinking to get a decent pair of analog FPV goggles. The only other important factor to consider would be after sales support & service.
Skyzone has good customer service.
@@AlbertKimTV Agree, Skyzone seems to be doing much better in this aspect and they listen to customers. They even had a few firmware updates for the SKY03O goggles after they releasing them.
FS does have a local repair representative in Australia which works better for me but improvements to products are very slow and firmware updates are unheard of.
This is the first I've noticed that silver color isnt shiny like the others. Like it a lot
Yeah, I like this matte finish a lot
No one mentions that you can power them with a power bank via USBC. To me that's huge plus the actual power button that Fatshark still doesn't have. Skyzone sky04x seem like a no brainer and will probably be my next upgrade.
😎
Glad to see SkyZone staying in the game. Also glad that they are continuing to keep the head tracking units in their goggles. I use my SK02V+ HT often, including this past weekend. Thanks for another great review!
I really feel that the HDO2’s have a more linear feel to the image. Where the Skyzones almost have a slight fisheye effect that is really distracting. I think that’s why Fatshark went to the the rounded optics..
Only a few review channels have this goggle. The optics on this one are different from their older models. So your comment is referring to older Skyzone goggles and not this one.
@@AlbertKimTV no I was referring simply to the video you took inside each. Obviously a bit hard to tell from a UA-cam video. But to me it was very apparent that the Fatsharks had a more linear, “natural” look to them. Where the Skyzones looked like they had a bit of fisheye going on. Just my take I guess.
Was the hdo on 4:3 and sky zone 16:9 as the sky zones looked further away
Great review Albert! I came from Fatshark Attitude v4’s & these are way way much better! I been using DJI V1’s also and taken out my Analog quads and enjoyed flying them again! Wish it had HDMI out since my 2 year old loves watching FPV on the big screen. But Great pair of Goggles! Thanks Albert!
Thanks for sharing
very helpful info here albert, good video
Hello Albert, great channel, I'm learning a lot here on your channel! I've got a pair of these skyzone 4x's on order. My first FPV goggles. What's the best way for me to power these? What do I need to buy? Thanks & keep up the great vids!
Nice review
Thanks!
Nice overview comparison, thanks!
How does the dual-receiver functionality work in use? Do the goggles use both receivers for literal quad-diversity or is there an option to use one receiver OR the other?
Say I have two receivers, the bundled 5.8 one and an aftermarket 2.4 receiver, does it try to display video using both receivers at once or is there the option through one of the menus to switch to use one independently from the other? The manual online isn't terribly clear regarding third party receivers beyond the need to have it in the left bay in order to have OSD control of the module.
The quad-versity only works on the Skyzone receiver. Third party receivers also work but only in diversity mode and one module only.
@@AlbertKimTV Awesome, thanks!
Hello Albert!, Just received my SKY04X goggles today and they are as good as you said. I had a problem while installing the faceplate pleather. I tried to adjust it, and it came apart. Where did you get the faceplate cushion shown on the goggles in this video? I like the looks of it. Thanks for the help.
That one is actually from the EV300O. I used that one because it felt nicer on my face. I'm not sure why they didn't use that one on the SKY04X too.
@@AlbertKimTV cool thanks. Were can I get the EV3000 faceplate cushion?
Hi Albert. Can you confirm that the Eachine RapidMix RX is the same as the Skyzone SteadyView RX?
Would also love to hear your review and comments on the performance of (2) SteadyView modules working at the same time.
Thanks for all that you do for us!!!
Still think my hdo2 look alot better ill stick with them and the fact i can change my module but good review albert see my fatshark fut my face perfect like you said its all in how comfortable your face feels
You have not tried these yet. Trust me, these screens are way better.
Good review! If I were to pick one of these goggles up, is there any benefit while using it to the Skyzone goggles vs the Eachine ones? The eachine ones are 50 bucks cheaper, but then again it is eachine...what are your thoughts?
As I mentioned in the video, the main difference is the screen and optics. The SKY04X has a larger FOV and a higher resolution 1280x960 screen. I personally would shell out the extra $50. It's that much better.
Do you have some kind of Astigmatism? I have a mild one (1.25 Cyl) on the left eye and a heavy one (5 Cyl.) on my right eye. Without my prescription lenses I could only set the HDO2s to wether seeing the center or the edges sharp on the left screen. The right one didn't really work at all. After getting some 3D-Prints for my prescription lenses all is fine now. Luckily my eyelashes still don't touch the lenses, even with the stock foam, but any further away from the lenses I couldn't see the whole screen.
I have mild astigmatism but can see clearly on these SKY04X goggles. The blurriness on the HDO2's is because I'm not able to get my eyes close enough to the lenses due to the shape of the face plate.
@@AlbertKimTV It's pretty interesting how different we all function :). I hope I will be able to get my hands at the skyzones one day here in Germany, they look pretty interesting and well made. As I was lucky to get the HDO2s on discount for 390€ and already had a TBS Fusion module, they were kind of a no brainer for me.
You are definitively one of my favorite UA-camrs, I really enjoy watching your reviews. Thank you for the valuable information you provide.
Unfortunately they ONLY take Skyzone rcvrs. the bays are too small, with the pin socket centralised (not offset like Fatshark) that my new TBS Fusion module won't fit into the Bay, let alone the socket! Crap. Of all the things to do; like no-one would want to bring their existing module along....? Really, Skyzone, bad move.
do same quality oled beetwen eachine ev300o with sky04X besaid FOV?
Those look very nice, what do you mean dual receivers ? Can you run both receivers at the same time?
I don't have analog goggles, just the DJI with the analog adapter, so I don't know how they work.
This goggle has two receiver bays so you can have two diversity modules working at the same time (4 total). It only works on this goggle with the Skyzone receiver module.
Thanks for the review! What about 3D? If it is supported, is it side by side or with two channels similar to the Skyzone 02X?
Good question, I asked this a while ago about the 03o's as I bought the blackbird v2 3d cam.
@@kudzy11 I asked this question directly to Skyzone and they confirmed that 3D is not supported anymore (since Sky03O) - due to cost reasons. I have the Skyzone 02X google and use stereoscopic FPV (3D) on a whoop (65mm class). It is working very well and do not want to go back to single camera FPV! All you need is two normal camera/vtx (no need to buy a blackbird camera, which would be too heavy for my whoop and is much more expensive than my solution). I would be interested to upgrade to OLED screens and bigger FOV. So, anybody who is using or interested in 3D, please approach Skyzone and ask for this feature. It is really cool, believe me.
@@kolibrif8242 @kudzy11
Hi
I just ordered a sky 04 AND an other sky 02x (i already have a 02 s) just in case my first one breaks. Plus I can have spectators with 3d vision. I have a diatone gtr 90 with a stereoskopic 3d setup.
3D IS AWESOME!!!
I am now building a 3 inch 3d cinewhoop for rocking thru the woods :D.
Skyzone should do a dual diversity 3d witch switches to the best 2d image if one side of the 3d picture has a to poor reception!
That would be my PERFECT goggles!!!
@@threedeeandbeyond 3D cinewhoop sounds interesting! What (split) cameras do you plan to use?
If Skyzone would add the 3D option to the Sky04X it would be the perfect google for me (OLED screens, big FOV + diversity receivers for each eye).
P.S.: I am currently flying a 3D setup on a 65mm whoop and are working on a lighter and smaller version (hope to come down to 23g).
What faceplate are you using ? I mean the faceplate foam , doesn't look like the stock one and it looks pretty neat
It came with the Eachine EV300O goggles.
Thanks for the interesting review Albert!
I've got one question about HDMI input. I have Fatsharks HD3, which have 4:3 screens, but they are squeezing the HDMI input picture to 16:9 ratio, leaving really large black areas above and below the image. How does HDMI input work on the goggles you reviewed?
Great review as always mate! A quick question does the 04x supports 3rd party modules such as RapidFire or Fusion and can you please confirm if the menues are visible from within the goggles. Thanks again and keep up the great work!
At 11:47 I'm the video there is a cover on top with 4 screws - can that be replaced with a mount for something like a bump helmet? I have interest in the goggles for nigh vision
BTW - unbelievably good documentation on your videos!
Hello Albert. Thanks for this video. I've pretty much made up my mind that I want these goggles. I've had fs hd3s and regretted selling them. I primarily fly helicopters but, enjoy fpv. I just can't decide if I should just go digital fpv or stick with analog. I'm using box goggles now but prefer something smaller. Like I said before, I primarily fly helicopters and don't want to break the bank on a digital setup. Your opinion would be much appreciated.
Thanks
If you want to stick with analog, these are the best value goggle in the upper tier of analog goggles. I love them and use them as my daily driver analog goggle.
@@AlbertKimTV Thanks I appreciate the help 👍
Can you tell me or someone else how you connected the camera to you googles at 8:35? What type of connectors did u use?
I made a custom cable that powers the camera but send the video signal to a 3.5mm a/v jack. I showed it in a previous video from my FPV camera review playlist but I'm not sure which video it was. Sorry, I made that video over 4 years ago so can't remember exactly which one it was.
how do you remove the faceplate?
THANKS for your review of the Sky04x.
Did you notice any Heat build up in the Goggle after using it for a while ?
I think Stu (UAvF) noticed that the Goggles were a little warm - maybe being that the OLEDs Brightness or Quad-versity play a factor into that ?
Yes, they do get a little warm but you can increase the fan speed to compensate. Also, stay out of the sun as the plastic heats up in the sun a lot more than the shade.
@@AlbertKimTV thanks for that. Yeah I watched stu’s video and he was flying out in the sun on a hot day... everything gets hot.
Can it record dvr from an hdmi input? Great overview by the way, thanks!
where did you get the foam for Sky04X faceplate? what model is it?
thanks for the review on something that is still a bit rare online.... lots of general comment (online) about the two bays but do they both work? As in together? Have you tried putting another module in the other bay for the oft mentioned quadversity (not by you but others)? I would doubt it happens as it would mean built in diversity -type electronics to merge the two outputs..... ? thanks again for the great watching vids from over here in NZ cheers, ian
oops, just found your comment to a similar question re two modules tho still not too clear on what you mean by it only working with skyzone rcvr. So you need two skyzone rcvrs only to get the quadversity? regards, ian
I have tried it and the improvement is marginal and not that noticeable.
Yes, it only works on skyzone receivers
@@AlbertKimTV thanks for the info. does that mean you need both bays the same module (skyzone) or could you have third party diversity in the left and skyzone omni in the right Bay. are you able to switch between the two? sorry for the questions but you're about the only person to offer any comment on the goggles and particularly that 2nd Bay. nothing in the manual about its starting to look like a gimmick.... Best regards, ian
@Albert Kim So, an update. Turns out the basic Fatshark module fits fine, I was trying my newly acquired (and loved) TBS Fusion module which has the connection pins offset! This due to the Skyzone module not performing anything like the TBS Fusion!
Ok, so I made up a piece of Vero board and put pins on one side and socket on the other (obviously?) to act as an interface between the goggles and the Fusion module. This left the module outside the bay and supported by the pin connection only.... not great. This is due to the Fusion module having the connection pins offset from center and consequently it wont fit in the bay!
Well!! I hadn't checked the OSD function at first; I'd got a view but no rssi display and thought it non functional but I checked again and JOY!! I get the full Fusion menu and also the Fusion rssi which probably never had due to not having any antennas on.... So it popped up when I left the TBS menu and I had a fly down the corridor (in house/Tinyhawk2) and every thing is working, about as well as the Skyzone module with both antennas on.
So I'm glad I did, I was actually contemplating finding something else but glad to be able to keep these having just spent the money and not seeing anything compelling about other options and in particular, the general lack of good focusing built in! I'm 68 and need glasses for reading and here in NZ there is no easy access to prescription drop in lenes for the goggles that need them. I haven't seen much, if any comment about this option as probably the bulk of the market is young with good eyesight (like I used to have....)!
Thanks again for your vids and reviews. A novel approach but always informative, Keep safe, be well. cheers, ian
Please share how you hook up the camera directly to the module bay. I've been looking for a forum on this but can't find anything. I think I found the pinout diagram but I was hoping for an easy adapter to solder to. Any ideas on where to start for like a custom fitting pcb or 3d printed part?
I didn't hook it up to the module bay. I hooked it up to the AV-in port. It's actually super simple. I just needed to power the camera on the other two wires of the three and the camera video signal goes straight into the goggles.
@@AlbertKimTV Thanks, I'll look into it. Do you think the HDOs could do this?
I could never get a proper IPD or distance from my eyes with Fat Sharks. I'm older (63) with eyes that are both reading and distance challenged, so I'm hoping these have the utmost in adjustability (you seem to suggest so)? For indoor Whoops would these be your personal choice? ...have you flown with Orca's ..and if so, how would these compare? ...that image does look sharp; close to HD/DJI ... and you have way too much stuff in that room :)
I have not tried the Orqa's yet. I'm not gonna spend $800 for those with the v2 DJI goggles around the corner. The range of adjustment on the SKY04X is greater at -6 to +6 diopter, but there's no guarantee's it will work for you as everyone's situation is a little different.
@@AlbertKimTV thanks, Albert ...that answers my question in that I will wait for the new Fat Sharks and then a comparison between all three (Orca, FS, Sky) by those reviewers with less-than-perfect eyesight (both Nick Burns and JB are also bespectacled) ...though, the others have to be considerably better, in that these appear to have a price/value advantage with the built-in receiver. $499 is a lot...but considering OLED, 1280 x 960 and RapidFire-ish ...it's about right. That said, these folks are scrambling for a piece of an ever-shrinking analogue market that now only favors users of micro builds or hard-core racers... and even they are switching.
Man, I’m so close to being sold. What about fogging of the lenses, how does the fan work compared to FatSharks, Orqas etc.? Great review, thanks AK
The default fan speed is only halfway. If you crank it up to full speed, airflow is more than adequate but also louder. In more humid environments, there may still be fogging, but that's hard to test where I live.
One day i hope to have sky zone goggles!!! Also digital looks so cool!!!! Keep up the good work!!!
Poor Fat Shark is getting it from all sides. Although I guess that since these can be used with Shark Byte it isn’t all bad news.
These look great. If DJI weren’t out there, I think I’d be getting these.
I think they’ve had it coming :)
@Brandon S I meant fat shark had it coming because that was his opening statement. As in they’ve not innovated for years and now they’re getting swallowed up by digital and analog
had the eachine ev300o for about a week. They are the Dog's dangly bits
Could you elaborate why you think so?🧐
Hello. Where did you buy your faceplate foam please ?
I use the one from the Eachine EV300O. I don't think it is sold separately.
These look great for new flyers that don't have the hdo2s already. I own the hdo2s, and probably won't be buying another analog goggle. I will be switching to dji as soon as they release their V2 with the improved goggle.
Yeah, if you have the HDO2's already and they work for you, no need to get these. LOL.
That reminds me, I've been hearing about the V2 a lot recently, but mostly from other people on UA-cam. Where are you getting the information? I'd like to take a look at it, I like to say in the loop lol.
@@kwadkrazy6078 Only rumors from other channels, but it has been 18+ months since the launch of V1...and Christmas time is almost here.🎅
@@pacificnorthwestpilots6050 True true. Looking forward to that!
Really nice vid' as always 😉
Hi , do you have to manually switch the aspect ratio whenever you switch to the hdmi source ? What I mean by that is , let's say you fly analogue on 4:3 but also use shark byte which is 16:9 , so whenever you switch from analogue to hdmi input do you have to change the aspect ratio manually or does it detect that the SB hdmi is 16:9 ? You know , basically do you have to go through bouth of the menus every time you want to change from analogue to SB and back or do you only need to switch between the input signal
You have to change them separately. It does not autodetect the signal from Shark Byte because that system isn't sending that information.
@@AlbertKimTV damit , well that's gonna be anoing , maybe skyzone cold add something like 2 separate default aspect ratio options one for analogue input and one for hdmi input in a future update but I doubt thay are gonna do that
man, once this tech is all sorted out prefectly and customizeable, i might have to cheat on fatshark lol
How do they compare to Orqas?

Does that foam pad come with the sky04x.... the fabric one or is that purchased separately?
that came with the Eachine EV300O and I moved it over because I liked that one.
@@AlbertKimTV are the sky04x now your new daily drivers vs ev300o? I'm undecided which to get. I have HDO v1 right now. Ev300o will have same fov. The sky04x might be too big?
Whqat Foam, Sponge do you use on the 04X goggles in the video. I do have a pair of 04x and iám interested to get this one.
I used the ones that came with the Eachine EV300O. Not sure why that one also doesn't come with 04X.
What batteries can I use on it?
Do same quality plastic between fatshark & skyzone? Whats better?
Plastic is about the same. Paint job? Fatshark is glossy, Skyzone is matte. I guess whichever one you like better is better.
can you add tbs fusion on that?
Are they switchable btw 4:3 and 16:9 ?
Please tell me the goggle foam information. share sale link.
the goggle foam is actually from the EV300O goggles
Nooow can I get a set of those old googles? Lol I'm using a Skysight Black Pearl at the moment...
Is the FOV too big and distracting at 47° or just frikkin excellent ?
It's pretty easy to find out - if you have a fullHD monitor, set the distance from your eyes to your monitor 15% longer than the diagonal size of your monitor. For example, if you have a 27" monitor, sit in (27*1.15)=31 inches in front of the monitor. That would be 47° FOV.
WE can include to skyzone4 module rapidfire?
Yes, it works with Rapidfire
how do you change aspect ratio on these ?
It's explained on page 6 of the manual which you can download at this link. bit.ly/3deeI2Y
@@AlbertKimTV manual only says its possible but does not says how to
will it work with 2 receivers simultaneously?
If you get two of the SteadyView receivers, you can run "quadversity" however, the improvement is not really that noticeable so not worth it IMO.
Do same quality case skyzone & eachine?
Yes
If HDO2 fits to my face, the Skyzones will fit too?
Everyone's face is different. Basically, I don't know.
So from what I’ve read, the TBS Fusions don’t fit on these, as the fusions are too wide.
A bit disappointed about this.
Now all we need is a DJI hd module
Not likely but one can dream
Anyone get a Little fuzzy picture sometimes?
Which is more worth it? The skyzone 04x, the fatshark HDO 2 or the HDO?
Skyzone SKY04X for sure is the best value. It works for my eyes. I have no idea if it will work for yours. Might be fantastic, might be horrible.
@@AlbertKimTV ty
Is this good for people who are long sighted (presbyopia)?
I have no idea
Why didn't you use the dji camera and system to put in the googles?? Then we would get a much better comparison!!!
what are you talking about??
at 499 get a pair for DJI digital goggles
This. I really wan't to upgrade my box goggles to this, but with a 150 extra on a dji module makes my stuff digital instead of analog.
Is that a normal HDMI port or a mini HDMI port?
mini
Thanks, I wanted to buy the walksnail VRX but I needed to know what ports they have, just in case I don't like the HDMI cable they ship with it@@AlbertKimTV
why are goggles so freaking expensive i know limited market but still atleast it should cost less they made eachine ev 100 and that's it. it is deriving me crazy
Absolutely no disrepect intended but your voice reminds me of kermit the frog. Love ya videos xx
haha... lol
I like dji looks like a fighter pilot while these goggles look like some 70s version of it 😆 just in build quality you can see these brands can't touch dji exteriors
Can' see the exterior when wearing the goggles
Fit and Finish looks a bit frugal.
just looking at them they look like maybe $100..
its that hard edge on the plastics, the fatsharks have rounded edged and just looks like it cost 5x the skyzone.
even hearing the plastic being handled sounds cheaper. Higher resonance.
But it sounds like from your comments that they were focused on Function not Form.
I wish the build quality looked better.
The build quality is excellent.
@@AlbertKimTV That's really good to hear.
question will a tbs fusion fit on them? and will they have adjustable fov? like from 46deg to 38deg??

HDO2 is still better.
In what ways, can you please explain.
This must be why fatshark wants to sell
There's some good competition out there.
Yes I fully agree with both of you,was thinking of buying Hdo2 but not anymore.
Sono gia vecchi basta analogico ciao.
😱👍👀🇭🇷
analog is almost dead
Can I please have one of those? Since you have extra and all 😁🤷🏾♂️
