  • Another segment of US Highway 80, beginning in the city of Rayville, the parish seat of Richland Parish. Here, we cross US Highway 425. We then continue through the communities of Girard, Start, and Crew Lake, before encountering a closed bridge at the Richland/Ouachita Parish line. We double back to Start, and hit I-20 West to the next exit, and then back to the west side of the closed bridge, so as not to have a large gap in the US-80 Route. We then head west to old Bastrop Road in Monroe, Louisiana.

at 11:56 there is a tire store on the corner of US 80 and Connie Lynne Drive. I have a cousin that lives down that road.. I've been meaning to drive over there since I bought my new car...

when I was a kid traveling to Shreveport on US 80, we called the section west of Crew lake where the detour is pictured the "straight stretch" because my father figured we had over 5 miles without a curve. One of our many landmarks heading west to family and friends. Travel used to be an adventure. Really miss it.

It still can be an adventure. That's why we take the old routes instead of the Interstates most of the time.

Terrible place to live, visit, or even drive through. Slayden's BBQ is the only place that has any worth in Bastrop. They do have the best BBQ. Bastrop deserves everything it gets, and they ain't getting much. Don't buy land there, don't live there, don't visit there, just try to avoid it at all costs.
