Hi Stephen, you'll maybe remember me - Bill Marshall, your sound engineer with Snapshots. Just found your channel after a guy who's researching bands from that era contacted me after seeing mention of Snapshots on my old personal website. Delighted to hear some of your other stuff. I still have a cassette of the Snapshots album from Rockfield that was never released - still holds up really well after all these years. Hope you're doing well. cheers Bill
Hi Bill, great to hear from you after all these years. The whole Rockfield thing was a magical time with so much promise for us all! Pete Gage actually gave me the safety masters back in the day but I've not done a digital transfer yet but I will when I find a studio with the appropriate tape machine. Anyway thanks for the kind words and when I get round to it I'll let you know and send you a CD or files of the tracks if you like All the best Stephen
Hi Stephen. Just back from Slovenia. That's odd, I thought I'd sent another reply but it seems to have vanished. That's great that Pete gave you the tapes - always thought he was a nice guy. He spent a lot of time easing you all through the recording process which not all producers do. Hope you can find a studio with a compatible machine - what format are the tapes? Don't have a as many contacts in the business as I used to have but maybe a couple of them might know somewhere that hung onto one. Drop me a message at bill@billmarshall.co.uk and it'll be easier to keep in touch. cheers Bill
Hi Bill finally got the safety masters transferred and guess what Mr Martin got them to make them mono although the tape box says stereo…..not like him 😜 The only. Cassette I’ve got is rubbish as in a cheap tape and about 4th generation Anyway hope you are doing well in these strange times All the best Stephen
@@StephenReidMusic Hi Stephen, good to hear from you. So good news and bad news on the album. Is there enough track information to remix it in stereo at least to some degree? Is it in digital format with the orignal tracks now or is it already mixed down? Hope you can get something useful out of it. Yeah it's been strange few years. I'm living in Slovenia now. Have had a house here for 10 years and moved out here full-time after my dad died in 2020. It's great here but I came down with a rheumatic condition that wasted all my leg muscles and triggered knee joint problems, so that's taken the edge off things a bit. The condition seems to have run its course now but I may need knee surgery. On the plus side I started playing guitar again during lockdown and this time I seem to be progressing rather better than the first time round!? Got a lovely Strat and a Sire Larry Carlton 335. Still have a house in Edinburgh but the illness meant I've only been back over once - earlier this year. Anyway, hope things are well with you and good luck with the tracks. Would be happy to hear how you get on with them. cheers Bill
Hi Stephen Reid...feck me...the internet is a weird place...Iain McKay here, dialling in from Germany. Been a long time...good to see you are still breathing and doing it. Not a social media bloke. Been playing and recording too. You take care.
