Ji-Sung Park is a super respected and beloved player. All United fans loved him for his loyalty and hard work. Park, himself, said somewhere that he found the chant hysterical.

Have you ever heard of Billy Connolly (a Brit) making jokes about being on a bus in Glasgow when he worked down the docks or Frankie Boyle joking about a seeing someone (from Scotland, but still a Brit) stopped outside a house, urinating on the door before producing a door key and then going inside. Brits take the piss out of themselves, if they don't then they're not really Brits, are they?

As an Eintracht Frankfurt fan here in Germany i really find these English chants amazing.I believe the overall matchday atmosphere in Germany is a lot better than it is in England,but the English type of support is really special.You just have to love English humor,but you have to be smart and open minded enough to understand it...
I am also a lifelong Man United fan and i visit United games few times a year and it's always fun.The creativity by making those chants is really something special.Laughing my head of every time when i am at old Trafford.

I think English and German atmospheres are completely incomparable and are both good in completely different team
West ham played Frankfurt in the Europa League last season, and yeah it was an intense atmosphere. But I prefer being able to hear the crowd react to a good bit of play, or a big tackle over just constant chanting. Plus chanting is more about the jokes than just pure noise

What I love about British chants is that they're so often corruptions of innocent or downright religious songs.
The racist chant about Park eating dogs & Scousers eating rats in their council houses is to the tune of Lord of the Dance, by the Dubliners, the lyrics of which are:

FYI Koreans don't really eat dogs anymore. Even in my parent's generation(in their 50s) it's generally frowned upon, in the younger generation it's considered absurd. We didn't eat our own pets though. There were dog farms. As far as that goes I personally find it disgusting, but also think it's a free country and you can do whatever you want. Some people keep pet chicken and pet pigs, but they're not banned from eating so...

As a swede and follower of english football (yes, all us swedes have an english team) I know the story behind all those chants. I've seen so many reaction videos where people don't know the story behind the song which in most cases takes away all the fun with it. So gotta love you telling them and seeing her reaction to it :D

The rags chant of 20,000 empty seats at City is ironic it refers to the europa league over a decade ago while a few seasons back they were playing to a half empty ground in the same competition. In Ferguson`s last season in charge they had a gate of 46,000 against Cluj in the cl, clueless springs to mind.
Not to mention the 60.000 empty seats at the swamp in the 6-1. Or the thousands of empty seats they left at the Etihad when we put another 6 past 'em last month.

When United were beating City their fans obviously responded in kind.
I remember city had put big advertising boards up around town saying "The city is ours" so they were really pushing that line for a while. It makes the chant even better in that context.
@@ihurtmyarm Man City definitely but up big advertising boards when they signed Tevez from United but they said "Welcome to Manchester" I don't recall them ever putting up ones saying "The City is Ours" though.

They definitely didn't have ads to that effect put up all over town though. Perhaps a supporter group could have had something to that effect put up in Deansgate?

To help clarify the empty seats chant between United and City, United like saying that city have no fans, as sometimes there's gaps in the seats. However, stats show that City have on average 98% occupancy a season. United, don't actually reach this same amount, they inflate their figures as they sell seats in bulk to tour groups, and if theese don't sell and no-one turns up, it doesn't matter they still count it as a sale and attendendance.
Also the CL ban issue, that was overturned as it was a garbage descision by UEFA who hate City... and well, the feelings mutual, we hate them and their lack of action against racism. Which is incidentally why we boo the UEFA anthem at CL games, and not to do with the FFP issues.
