Oh also, I said in this video that I couldn't find any 'witchcore' references on Pinterest. Its because for some reason that search term didn't work out for me. but now that I have perused it longer (after filming this) I'm finding so many cute references. *snaps fingers * drats... any tips on how to draw yorkies there long hair really confuses me
try to break down the outside fur as simple shapes and then cut into it to soften the fur. Best of luck!

Might I suggest for future videos, maybe another really long "Draw with me for 2 hrs" one or a "Netsuke" for netsuke, it's fun, I'm doing it in art class rn, we are using soap. it's a cheap alternative for the other materials you'd use. Love your videos, keep being you! 💜

Coming from a witch herself, I can tell you this:
Witches will literally wear *WHATEVER THEY FEEL LIKE*
I've seen vintage witches, modern witches, theres causal, hippies, very Romanian styles of clothes, you've got goths and flower children and cottage core and medival, sporty, e-girl, professional, all the styles under the sun and you'll find a witch in any one of them, so believe me when I say, you did a great job! I would definitely wear the outfits you've created here and I've worn very similar things before
My style as a witch is just hoodies, sweatpants, and weeb merch

I use a mixture of Prismacolor/Art Alternatives/and Ohuhu FIneliners. but if its straight up bending it might be a brush liner. you want a fineliner. if the fineliner is bending, its broken. that does happen with overuse even if you aren't heavy handed. they only last so long because the tips are so small.

(im a witch) i think the clothes look great! pulling from cottage-core, dark and light academia, alternative styles and edwardian and victorian influences is a really good way to make a witchy aesthetic

Worldbuilding idea: color symbolism in this witchy culture :)
Since black is a common color, it's probably not associated with unpleasant concepts like death and mourning, or if it is, it could be a key story element, since your story is closely connected to the concept. Building on that idea, death and mourning might be acceptable in day-to-day life? Like its ok to cry over a loved one even if you're in public and ppl just accept it. Does that make sense?
Maybe black protects against death, or its regarded as a color that wards off impurity/harm and brings good luck(since white shows everything and black doesn't show stains as much). Maybe other color mean different things? Like white could be looked down upon as easily corruptible bc it stains easily (if the ancient witches were cooking up potions and stuff they probably had some major stains, so wearing black makes sense). Plus wearing black would mean one wouldn't have to wear as many layers to stay warm.
Love your story and how it interacts with grief and mourning and I hope this helps :)

Wow, this is amazing! My personal style is very close to this (I even wear a witch hat every day xD) so now I got super inspired to just draw my own style! I have been feeling like everything I draw is boring, maybe this will bring back my inspiration! And since I sew, maybe I should design their clothes with the fabrics I got at home in mind! OOOOOOOHHH! Suddenly I feel SO much more inspired to both draw and sew! Different hobbys working together to make something amazing! I LOVE THIS! I will start working right away!

Update: Sooo... I accidentally designed my wedding dress! xD I was just hanging out, drawing and painting in my sketchbook and decorated a dress design with a silver pen. When I was done I looked at it, pictured it with satin and chiffon instead of velvet and almost fell of my chair! I've been trying to design my wedding dress for two years!!!

I think you could still use Sage's clothes to show her characterisation throughout the story in tandem with the star tattoos, eg. like when Hyacinth tells her she thinks a bird saved her life, Sage could wear gloves and long sleeves and stuff to hide them so she doesn't need to look at them, or in the beginning she could wear more layers when she's not too open to being a big sister, or at the end when she's let go and moved on her clothes can become more loose and flowy and freeing, etc.
I like the way you've designed Hyacinth's outfits that make her look younger than her actual age, it's a subtle hint/foreshadowing to the end of the story, like she was never meant to live beyond 10ish so her clothes portray that idea of she'll always be forever young, if that makes sense? Love the story, hope the two girls pop more in your art 👍👍👍

think about it this way - she’s been practicing for years and years, and even she still struggles! she doesn’t always post those struggles - social media is usually the best of people. so just keep practicing and pushing yourself to find your style, and you don’t need to compare yourself to anyone else!!

Prologue: the many years before with all of the witches and the cat and that’s stufff
Epilogue: sage coming home and learning to deal with it same as her parents
