Dual Career Network: Mirjam and Noam Zadoff

When Mirjam Zadoff was offered an associate professor position at Indiana University Bloomington, her husband, Noam Zadoff, was also invited to interview for a position. This meant a lot to the two, both of whom are now historians and Jewish studies scholars in the College of Arts and Sciences. The interview and subsequent assistant professor job offer was made possible through Indiana University’s dual career network, a program that was launched to support deans in bringing in top faculty. Indermohan Virk, dual career coordinator for the Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty and Academic Affairs, said that while the effort began as a recruitment tool, the hope is for the program to extend to retention of existing faculty members. “We want good people coming to IU and we want them to be happy here,” Indermohan said. Mirjam said she considers Noam her most important colleague and the most important person she works with. “It is a very nice thing that this is being appreciated and not seen as an obstacle,” Mirjam said.
