  • Bluetooth, a simple wireless communication module most popular since the last few decades and easy to use are being used in most of the battery-powered devices. Over the years, there have been many upgrades of Bluetooth standard to keep fulfil the demand of customers and technology according to the need of time and situation. It all started from Bluetooth version 1.0 and currently, Bluetooth version 5.0 is available in the market. Over the few years, there are many things changed including data transmission rate, power consumption with wearable and IoT Devices and Security System.
To learn about the Bluetooth working, HC-05 & HC-06 is widely available in the market. But here we are going to learn about HM-10 BLE 4.0 with Arduino Board. The HM-10 is a readily available Bluetooth 4.0 module. This module is used for establishing wireless data communication using any Android App in the smartphone. The module is designed by using the Texas Instruments CC2540 or CC2541 Bluetooth low energy (BLE) System on Chip (SoC). The module design and firmware originated from the Jinan Huamao Technology Company.
As the name suggests, BLE focuses on low energy consumption. Low energy focus comes with some sacrifices particularly around data transfer rates and the range of operation. With all the hype around IoT (Internet of Things) and the slew of technologies and devices out in the market, BLE is attempting to position itself as a leader for the future of IoT.

so voltage divider or logic level converter between them unlike HC-05 ?
your blog clearly says that one needs to convert Arduino's 5V pin to RX.
but at the end of your blog, your wiring diagram says otherwise

I was looking for a 'newb's first bluetooth tutorial', and this one is great for that. Even more impressive considering it seems to be the only one even remotely useful.

Hi this is a great video, I'm new to all of this stuff and I don't have any idea at all , I have trouble trying to discover the HM-10 that I have when using the ble scanner , I am currently using the Ks0174 keyestudio HM-10 Bluetooth-4.0 V2 , it's connected to the arduino uno board , I have also followed your instructions yet the application still cannot discover the module, any Idea what's going on here? thanks

Hi, how to set HM-10 so it can replace HC-05? We have Bluetooth classic MIT APP INV APP that works well with HC-05 but not with HM-10. So can HM-10 work as a HC-05 after setting it's parameters?

I have a small problem. I need to use components that are compatible with Arduino. A position sensor (so I use a GPS module. This GPS module must be Adafruit Ultimate GPS Data Acquisition Module (GPS Included)). A position storage (with an SD card that must work with an SPI link). A bluetooth interface. A IHM to visualize the route (using an Android tablet that is compatible with a bluetooth module).
you can advise me to use what as a component . because it's 3 components must be compatible with Arduino and an Android tablet IHM thanks to a Bluetooth module.

I have a doubt is codes for Hm-10 and Hc-05 are different? Because already have project on HC-05 and if I now just replace this Bluetooth module to Hm-10 is this previous code work properly or I need to alter?
