This is, admittedly, where some of the alterations made by the show begin to hold up badly to the historical reality, at least for. Because, to a certain point, what Mahidevran is asking for here is something that, to a point, was already promised to her-a concubine mother would be automatically freed after the death of the sultan she'd served. She couldn't, nor would the actual Mhaidevran have expected to be, treated like Hürrem as that had been a special case created to elevate her to the position left vacant after the death of Ayşe Hafsa. For the show to have this all happen before the death of the Valide (and taking away the creation of the Haseki title, but that's another story) makes it all feel so weird in places.
Mahidevran Hatun was already in Manisa with Mustafa when Hurrem was freed and the marriage happened while Valide Sultan had passed away prior to those two events. So all of this is still fiction. After the death of the Sultan she had served she would have returned to Istanbul as a free woman only if her son became the Sultan. Otherwise she would have most probably be pensioned off while Mustafa would have been executed along with his sons. The series doesn't follow the true historical timeline and even if Mahidevran would have still been in Istanbul when Hurrem was freed and elevated to Haseki Sultan, I highly doubt she would have made such a bold gesture and demand freedom for herself.
@@smetiska To a point, I do understand the deviation from the historical timeline in regards remaining in Istanbul for longer than meant with her son, if only because it makes certain parts of the narrative easier to illustrate while providing more screen time to certain characters. But, in the long run, it created some of the more nonsensical plot lines that I just flat out hate, such as the concept the şehzades having harems while still in capital and then their concubines being punished for getting pregnant. Like, no, please stop, this is exactly what sanjaks were meant to be for! (Am also going to point to this comment the next time someone tries to tell me that Mahidevran got exiled by Hürrem.)
@@Redluna32 I know what you mean, I have a love-hate relationship with the series. In my humble opinion, they really did go too far with some plots, especially not following the true historical timeline. They butchered most of the characters unnecessarily. The sad thing is that most people never read any books in regards to the Suleyman era or the Ottoman Empire or the Harem and believe the series to be a true account. I've read in a newspaper that after the episode of Mustafa's execution was aired in Turkey, people went to Suleyman's tomb and spat on it, cursing him. Sad indeed.
A clear difference between Mahi and Hurrem is that Mahi's tantrums solely revolved around her ego/desires and status. Although, Hürrem's tantrums were similar - Mahi centred her words and actions solely around herself, Hürrem knew how to play with other's emotions and appeal to pathos. Also Mahi had little grounds for her tantrums, her whole existence in the palace following her bringing poison to the Sultan's table was a gift in itself. Both Mahi and Gulsah would've been punished to death for such an offence.
If only in this moment he had stuck to his guns and kept Mustafa with him hurrem could have raised him and he wouldn't have became the enemy caught in the middle of a mess
By this point Mahidevran has already said and done enough that wouldn't have worked. Had Suleyman executed Mahidevran for poisoning Hurrem while she was pregnant with Mehmed back when it happened Hurrem would have had an actual chance at building a loving maternal bond with Mustafa.
Mahidevran saying "I won't show humility" is hilarious. When has she ever been humble? The girl doesn't understand the meaning of humility. She thinks she hung the moon and everyone should be grateful. Glad Suleiman was there to remind her where she actually stands.
It hundreds year ago. Hurrem was smart woman. She asked freed her then marry her she knew the rules of sharia. Suleyman love her so much, cannot touch her if he didnt marry her. But mahidevran only count on Valide sultan
To be honest I believe Mustafa made a mistake when he went to his father and asked to leave with his mother. He showed his father who he truly listened to and cared for. Their relationship is never the same after this. What do you think?
Like what do they all want Suleiman to do: sleep with a woman he is no longer interested in just because his mother, sister and friend all want it to happen? I really do not understand why everyone is so concerned about Mahidevran - she is obviously out of favor but that is the way the court worked...
Free her? Why keep her as a slave and concubine if he doesn't want her? She could be free to marry, have more children. Doesn't she deserve to find love too? If she found herself a lover while in his household, I bet her would have killed her.
@@queenmoreau2098no she doesn’t because in those times she was a slave and it didn’t matter who her son was she was still a slave even in death, her happiness didn’t matter what was required was her obedience and to teach the same to her son and she couldn’t even do that. Salim did helped her financially near the end but he never freed her or gave her a title either
@@queenmoreau2098 There was a large Haram filled with young women, concubines and slaves, who were not the favorites of Suleiman. This is how the society worked. All of the others wanted the chance to be the favorite, to give birth to future princes. When Mahidevron was the favorite, did the others get to leave? No, this is because, despite pretty clothes and jewelry, they were slaves and concubines. I admit I like the clothes worn by Mahidevron better than most of the others. The clothes given to Hurrem' character were too gaudy. I think this series intended to demean Hurrem. Remember, Hurrem was not born a muslim, but was most likely Eastern Orthodox Christian. She was born in Ruthenia, which was, at that time, part of the Kingdom of Poland. I believe she corresponded with the King of Poland, writing in the Polish language, but I have not seen these documents. It was not unusual for muslim Tatars to attack villages in Christian and Catholic communities, and kill everyone except the people they dragged off to slave markets to sell. This is how Hurrem ended up a slave and a concubine, but it was her intelligence, spirit and strength which convinced Suleiman to make her his wife.
Mahidevran keeps whining that she is a victim again and again. first of all she is not at all greatful that in the eyes of the others she is still among the favourites. Suleiman at least gave her THAT. but she wants more. more more. she cannot help but compare herself always to hurrem. and then she diminishes her mistakes saying she made A MISTAKE while she made several mistakes: she was the one who conspired to put hurrem in prison at the beginning, then she beat her up, then she poisoned her, etc. she made much more than JUST ONE TINY BIT OF A MISTAKE. on top of everything she fails miserably to understand that she is the one who contributed to turning Hurrem into a powerful woman. everytime she won, her power increased. Musulmans had the right to marry more than one woman, and sultan had a special status altogether, why does she behave like a 21st century betrayed wife of the west? this script has several obvious flaws, but even flawed, it was well written and unfortunately belivable
@ionutmihailbarta6677 still the point is if he wanted to do it, it would have been done. It wasn't tradition yet Sulieman loved Hurrem so much he did break tradition. That's the point
Sending mustafa away with mahidevren was the worse thing they could have done. She got to teach him exactly what she wanted with no influence. If he had stayed at the palace everything would have been different.
No , I don't agree , watching his mother being miserable due to others would have taken a toll on his mental health and would have left him emotionally devasted , when Mahidevran and Mustafa left this toxic environment then she was able to breathe freely while educating her son in the best way and giving him the attention which she had diverted towards Hurrem and Suleiman for soo long .....
14:54 😂😂😂 he’s like: oh….where is my crown? Where is my position? I’m Suleiman?……..let me look at it…..mm..yes I have it, and I am. Now, I can talk to her. HOW DARE YOU-
There is no way that anybody could talk to Sultan this way and not be punished in any way. Let alone be allowed to leave. This is made only for the show. There is no way this could happen in real life.
But in this situation its really hard to tell because you can't just say someone's a snake in the harem because they got more attention than you, Hurrem is the actual wife now so why would she be the snake? And in reality almost all of them lived happily or each of them co existed.
I find it absolutely hilarious that Mahidevran will get all brave and sassy and stomp around saying that she doesn’t even care for her own life. Then the moment That Suleiman drops the hammer, she goes crying to validate and Ibrahim asking what will happen to her🤣 so she does care about her life
My heart Pierce into pieces when i saw mahidevran is to be humiliated by sultan it was only sultan who is responsible for mahidevran's sorrows where is his supreme justice when it come to mahidevran,..why he didn't do justice to mahidevran where is his conciousness for the Mahidevran's feelings i hate Suleiman. And hurrem most. . Beside this i feel sorry for mahidevran because in all these circumstances she didn't act smartly as hurrem .... She should use her mind she can be Victorious if she use her mind Smartly not by emotions as she have a huge support by dynasty members .... I wish valida sultan and Ibrahim pasha take hurrem seriously and vanish her on time since very beginning...this was the time where Ottoman's Empire becomes weak its roots become weak because Suleiman was blinded by hurrem and his greed to throne due to this he murdered loyal persons on empire Ibrahim Pasha and Prince Mustafa
The entire system of harams and slavery was cruel. Basically, you are saying a young girl (she is rumored to be rather petite) from Ruthenia, from the Kingdom of Poland, whose family was murdered and whose village was destroyed by muslim Tatars, who was dragged across the land and put on a boat, forced to sail across the Black Sea, forced to work in the haram of Sultan Suleiman without even knowing the local language, learned the language, learned the system, was so beautiful she attracted the attention of the Sultan, was so intelligent and sweet that he fell in love with her, had 5 children with her, married her and made her a Sultana. You are saying this union of love began the ruin of a cruel and ruthless system of slavery which extended across the African continent as well into Central Europe, murdering, torturing, mutilating and enslaving millions of people over several centuries. Not bad for a petite Ruthenian-Polish peasant girl! It appears the saying "Love conquers all" is true!!!! Bravo Roxalana-Hurrem!
That’s why Hurrem never made a scene in front of the children and the time they defended her she sent them away from the situations she never used them as a shield Mahidevran can’t say the same. Worse thing that ever happened to Mustafa was have her as a mother
Suleiman never loved a woman before Hurrem, with her it was a fatal match, with Mahidevran there was some common sympathy, however it wasn't love and connection it was with hurrem. Mahi couldn't accept it, but that's how this stood. When you see a strong love like Hurrem and sultan, all you can is bow your head to it, if you go against it, it will backfire as it did to Mahi.
Come on guys.... Don't forget she is a woman who is madly in love with her husband... And then everything turns disastrous and an evil woman get it all away from her. Sultan is ignoring her badly. She cannot stand it guys. This is so difficult, almost impossible.😥
He is not her husband and she is part of a harem. There are and have been multiple women she had to share him with. This is not a story set in modern times or western cultures with monogamy .
When Hurrem was sent away she wasn’t able to take her son. Why did Mahidevran think she’d be able to take hers? Mahidevran brought this upon herself. I feel bad for Mustafa though.
Mahidevran exhibiting horrible parenting here threatening she would come back with the strongest claim for the throne knowing hurrems sons would die when mustafa became sultan.... she is going to cry like a victim later when that backfires on her hurrem going to protect her kids.
Her three fatal flaws are that she always takes thing one step too far, she built her ego on her sons position, and is always focused on her own tragic love story. Self fulfilling prophecizing herself into a tunnel view where she has no sense consequences. Her woes at the moment are the greatest woes in the world and it couldn’t POSSIBLY be worse except for of course it can. The man has proved repeatedly soft for the women in his life. If she’d stop at “as a woman who is in love with you”, or even expanded on her honest, personal feelings of love, she might have actually been freed. He softened there. Right before she basically stated this was all for a power play.
Hurrem entered a home were all occupants priorly relished every opportunity to put her "in her place". Crowns then and now are a visual reminder to ppl of the wearer's authority. Is it tacky to wear while making a house visit?, sure- but in this case appropriate given prior hostility.
Eh, alright, the crown moment? Definitely showing off in a not subtle way. But, for once, Suleiman is as correct in what he says as Hürrem. It's rather hypocritical for these people who pulled rank at every opportunity to now pull a, "No, it's only supposed to work for me, not you!" when Hürrem is, correctly, able to do the same.
I just cannot understand why mahidevran and gang think suleiman is crazy/enchanted just because he doesn’t like mahidevran? He isn’t ‘supposed’ to love anyone and he doesn’t owe it to mahidevran. Feelings change and he fell in love with hurrem so what? I would understand if they were scared hurrem might become too powerful in the future and stir up trouble but their whole argument against hurrem is that she is a sorceress and suleiman is crazy because he doesn’t like mahidevran????? The math aint mathing
Now see, Mahidevran could have left the room when Mustafa did but she stayed to start drama. People need to stop defending her and try and say she's innocent and Hurrem is bad. Hurrem wasn't perfect but most of the time she didn't start the mess but she did fight back.
Ya it's sad but this is how it works (life). If all you have only beauty? You loss. You need to be smart and brave, know how and when to act, hurrem has all of that. Mahidevran? Beautifull but playing victim all the time
Oh god, mahi is saying everything wrong, she is defying suleiman and talking with him in away that he cant tolerate thinking that this what hurrem does!!! Hurrem appears to them stubborn and arrgoant But what mahidevran doesn't know is that hurrem is very smart and know with whom she is talking snd how to act, and with suleiman she is very loving and humble, she makes him give her what she wants by his own mind and happily😊. Sometimes i feel pity for mahidevran, she ruined herself and no one to be blamed for her ending but herself.
After insulting n humiliating hurrem innumerable times..gangi g up with valide,hatice,ibrahim..now mahi claims she cant put up with the insults😎😎committing a crime and then playing victimhood is mahi' s sole trick and mustafa inherited it from her And whatever she claims to be a mostake was actually a huge crime...sending dinner laced with poison to suleiman and heavily pregnant hurrem Actually, she shld have been killed or atleast permanently exiled but as usual valide protected her
The thing is… look Mahi can be angry and sad all she wants but what made Hurrem so powerful was she made connections and she picked out the best servants. Mahi needed to have more than idiot Ibrahim Pasha (who wasn’t really that powerful anyway) she can cry at first and let it all out but in the end she needed to get herself together and realize the true war that came with being a slave. And she needed to bow more. She just needed to have more power and educate her son. Makes me wonder if her baby she lost survived. But.. sadly.. she chose to be sad slave than powerful sultana.
I have never been more upset than when Sultan killed Mustafa without a single fault. He was a great son and a great brother to his half brother who was disabled. I have always hated Hurrem! She was the reason for Mustafa being killed. She would pay for that when her own son dies from pain from Mustafa being killed just days after Mustafa's death and her other children killing each other's along with their children.

Mahidevran shouldn't be crying, whining and all bitter like that infront of Mustafa...it saddens him and poisons his mind...if i were her i'd focus on bringing up a fine prince and fight tooth and nail to place him on the throne.
If I were here I would go crazy…((( I would not be able to stay such a sorrow. Being young and beautiful woman, fading slowly in this f.cking harem, with no way to escape. Awful(((
@@elenakulikova347 And you would've survive just like Mahidevran. You have to be smart to keep your head and status. Suleiman appreciated Gulfem because she never acted out, he and her became friends and he looked out for her. Mahidevan had the upper hand and lost it because she let her feeling control her. Each mistake she made put her life and her son life in danger. Swallow you pride and throw that heart into the ocean. Teach your son to be better and gain supporters and never make his father doubt his loyalty!!! That would've saved Mustafa in the end but instead she did the opposite lol
Mahidevran beat Hurrem and tried to poison her while she was pregnant and might have killed the Sultan as well and wonder why he can't forgiven her.
U can tell by Valide's expression that she's tired of Mahidevran's tears and complaints, especially when she doesn't even listen to her advice.
Only Gulfem understands Suleiman’s request in bunch.
Valid is being sad, Mahidevran is just upset as always.

@@cassidyrogers-voigt1550 No, Gulfem had said in an episode, "I never have regret against you. I could not make myself worthy of you." She gave up after losing her son. But Mahidevran Sultan never gave up and she had a living son who was the CROWN PRINCE!!!

The blame game is just useless here, the man gets to make decisions, these women were merely hoping for his favor to their existing, no one giving their places so stop saying she did that blah blah cause every women here who loved was betrayed or cornered by their lovers despite how much they loved.
Mahidevran sulltan was disappointed, she needed more love and attention
i know right…thats why she act like that she try everything to het suleyman attention back…
This is, admittedly, where some of the alterations made by the show begin to hold up badly to the historical reality, at least for.
Sad indeed.
@@smetiska True

Amazing, the way mahidevran talks like that to Suleiman and he does nothing to her! Who is she to compare with the great haseki.
Always team Mahideveran from day 1, Mahideveran is the best and even the actress who played it is great
A clear difference between Mahi and Hurrem is that Mahi's tantrums solely revolved around her ego/desires and status.
Mustafa was such good son to both his mom & dad, very sad because of his ending like that.
To be honest I believe Mustafa made a mistake when he went to his father and asked to leave with his mother. He showed his father who he truly listened to and cared for. Their relationship is never the same after this. What do you think?
@@lovelydove8770 but still his dad can't kill his own son for small reasons
GO mahidevran. So proud of her for standing up 4 herself. Suleyman deserved that.
Of course Mahidevran ruins hatice and ibrahims happy moment after she gives birth again 🙄
Like what do they all want Suleiman to do: sleep with a woman he is no longer interested in just because his mother, sister and friend all want it to happen? I really do not understand why everyone is so concerned about Mahidevran - she is obviously out of favor but that is the way the court worked...
They want to stay in her favor, because they believe she will become Valide when Suleiman dies. They’re securing their future Kings mom.
@@nwilliams2132 Which is silly af bc it is not guaranteed at all that the oldest one inherits...
Before leaving, she tells hurrem sultan about throne and eldest son. Well I don't feel bad for you mahidevran
Aw you cut the part where Mustafa confronts Suleiman. I love that scene. Really shows Mustafa growing up to be a man
I really hate how she brings her child into her problems…. She really screwed him up and put so much pressure on him
Mahidevran keeps whining that she is a victim again and again. first of all she is not at all greatful that in the eyes of the others she is still among the favourites.
Mahidevran tried acting like Hurrem or atleast the manner in which she imagined Hurrem would behave... look where that got her😂
The fact is if Suleman wanted to legally marry Mahidiveran, he would have did it years ago before he even became Sultan.
The thing is it was tradition for sultans not to marry their slaves.
Mahidevran really thought if she acts like hurrem, she can get anything. Bish, you are not hurrem!!! Hurrem has a different place

The audacity to address hurrem sultan as hurrem hatun infront of Suleiman, what did mahidevran expect???
My mother in same situation before 30 years, shr left the world in same situation. My father didn't recover from that snake ( step mother)
But in this situation its really hard to tell because you can't just say someone's a snake in the harem because they got more attention than you, Hurrem is the actual wife now so why would she be the snake? And in reality almost all of them lived happily or each of them co existed.

Suleiman: "Nobody can threaten me and get away with it.... except Hurrem. How dare you compare yourself to her? "
I find it absolutely hilarious that Mahidevran will get all brave and sassy and stomp around saying that she doesn’t even care for her own life. Then the moment That Suleiman drops the hammer, she goes crying to validate and Ibrahim asking what will happen to her🤣 so she does care about her life
(Talking about the series) This Mahidevran didn't last and even Valide didn't like her because of these certain actions.
16:39 typical mahidevran, as always
Mahidevran always playing victim and she poisoned everyody's mind in palace with hatred to hurrem

How dare mahidevran talk like that to the great haseki sultan?
I asked the same question myself.
Why dint they feel bad for Hurrem when she was separated from her babies 🤨
She failed to caution Mustapha here for going against his father but praised him instead. That's the difference between Mahidevran and Hurrem.
Every time she has behaved this way out of malice she has only pushed him further and further away from her. She is her own undoing.
Can we talk about how Mahi basically badmouthed the rest of the women and his father to him...?
Women has a jealousy factor... And this would be painful
I feel a lil sad for mahidevran🥺💔but she deserves it😅
13:14 eeeeee 😂😂😂😂😂
That was never her husband though, she was his concubine and the mother of his eldest son
That is what she gets good 👍 👍👍👍👍👍👍
If only Mahi can hold in her temper And not have acted in such a way .. but then again she is now on the side just like Gulfem was ..

Mahidevran, this is a taste of the medicine you handed Gulfem. What makes you think you are different?
Isn’t it amazing how Mahidrevan thinks with her non-brain and then she wonders how and why she gets in trouble!!
The actress of Mahidevran must be so dehydrated after filming her scenes. 😂
I mean Mahidevran has one point. Who wears a crown to such an affair? That wasn’t appropriate, no matter how Hurrem felt.
Hurrem entered a home were all occupants priorly relished every opportunity to put her "in her place". Crowns then and now are a visual reminder to ppl of the wearer's authority. Is it tacky to wear while making a house visit?, sure- but in this case appropriate given prior hostility.
Who wears a crown?
A sultan's legal wife
Basically equal to empress
Hurrem is the only one legal wife of sulaiman and queen in that palace, did mahidevran ever realize that she took sulaiman from gulfem too?
She's a queen, haseki sultan, of course she must dress appropriate as suleimans legal wife
And when Mahidrevan does come back, the Sultan didn’t want to see her the first night back!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I just cannot understand why mahidevran and gang think suleiman is crazy/enchanted just because he doesn’t like mahidevran? He isn’t ‘supposed’ to love anyone and he doesn’t owe it to mahidevran. Feelings change and he fell in love with hurrem so what? I would understand if they were scared hurrem might become too powerful in the future and stir up trouble but their whole argument against hurrem is that she is a sorceress and suleiman is crazy because he doesn’t like mahidevran????? The math aint mathing
Olgunlaşmak,

Now see, Mahidevran could have left the room when Mustafa did but she stayed to start drama. People need to stop defending her and try and say she's innocent and Hurrem is bad. Hurrem wasn't perfect but most of the time she didn't start the mess but she did fight back.
Ya it's sad but this is how it works (life). If all you have only beauty? You loss. You need to be smart and brave, know how and when to act, hurrem has all of that. Mahidevran? Beautifull but playing victim all the time
I dont know why Suleiman is not freeing her as if he's still interested 😂
This entire episode is just Mahidevran crashing out lmao
Oh god, mahi is saying everything wrong, she is defying suleiman and talking with him in away that he cant tolerate thinking that this what hurrem does!!!
Hurrem appears to them stubborn and arrgoant
But what mahidevran doesn't know is that hurrem is very smart and know with whom she is talking snd how to act, and with suleiman she is very loving and humble, she makes him give her what she wants by his own mind and happily😊.
Sometimes i feel pity for mahidevran, she ruined herself and no one to be blamed for her ending but herself.
After insulting n humiliating hurrem innumerable times..gangi g up with valide,hatice,ibrahim..now mahi claims she cant put up with the insults😎😎committing a crime and then playing victimhood is mahi' s sole trick and mustafa inherited it from her
And whatever she claims to be a mostake was actually a huge crime...sending dinner laced with poison to suleiman and heavily pregnant hurrem
Actually, she shld have been killed or atleast permanently exiled but as usual valide protected her
Bunaqa podshoga xotin bòlgandan xizmatkor chòponga xotin bòlish 100000% avfzal....
Why did Mustafa bow down to Ibrahim!?
How dare that witch threaten the King then tell Mustafa that it's what the king wants. What a snake
I've said it before i will sai it again Valide should have set Hurrem free when she first came to the palace
Perhaps there's a historical reference to the design of Hurrems crown. If not, it's an abomination! Looks like a 3rd grade art project.
Sulaiman never send away mahideran like hurrem being send away from her children...😮
Mahidevran, I wont bow down to my fate. Fate😊 crushes her to the ashes.
