Thanks Jareth. I must be the only person that has this saw with no fence issues. It's been a good saw, but now I need some dado blade ZCI's. Your's is the best approach for me.
The drill bit idea to create the cut outs for the leveling tabs is awesome, I've seen other videos where they make it harder and more involved than that.
I just made one of these for the exact same saw. I did a couple of things different. First, I double sided taped my stock plate to the wood, and used a flush trim bit. I still had to sand some, so either method will work. I used my router and a 1/2" plunge bit, and a steady hand for the notches. I didn't think about a forstner bit. I epoxied a washer to the end instead of a magnet. If I had a magnet, I would have probably done that instead though. Lastly, I didn't cut the whole length for the blade. I put on a smaller blade, dropped it all the way down, clamped the insert in place with a board, then raised the blade. One I had the main slot, I was then able to switch to the big blade to finish the slot. Anyway, well done!
I like everything about my R4512 except the throat plate. I've made several plates like this and it's a PITA every time. They could easily have made the shelf wider and deeper to accommodate a plate made of Baltic birch.
Terrific video Jareth, thank you. I might suggest you raise your blade to the top when removing/replacing it: makes it much easier. Also, if you convert the R4512 to 220v, you will be as amazed as I was at just how great this saw will operate. It's worth it even if you have to run a new 220v circuit.
Great video! I was able to follow everything perfectly, right up to the part where you made the first cut for the riving knife opening. Can you explain in a bit more detail what you are measuring at 6:00? I have a feeling it would all make sense if I was working with the insert on the saw but my saw is still stored away for winter. Thanks.
He is measuring how far from the edge of the insert plate to cut a groove for the blade and the riving knife. It needs to be done because the riving knife raises and lowers with the blade is an important safety feature. Hope this helps.
hey Mr. Goldsholl. this was about the making of an insert, that which I am interested in. I'm sure we are all sorry you bought a bad saw one day and got your feelings hurt. Go get your color book and crayons and take a time out. I appreciate this video, it was well done and has lots of options for me to consider, keep up the good work. I dig it.
I made a plate for my saw and I had to hollow out a spot for the arbor housing to the left of the blade. Also my table has a dip in it and I wonder if ridgid would swap it out since it has a lifetime parts warranty?.. good saw tho
And I don't know why people complain about stupid shit. It's a video that is teaching you something that you are watching for free. Lower the volume, mute it, or put up with it. The fact that you take the time to bitch to the guy that took the time to post a video to help you shows exactly where you lack. Jareth, keep up the good work bud and put whatever music, the more annoying the better 👍🏼
Just bought this model Ridgid. What a pain in the ass. Making insers for my old Craftsman was WAY easier because the clearance was enough to simply drop the piece in without all the BS of that wafer thin clearabce on the Ridgid. Oh and the cast iron top is all wavy and not flat whatsoever. Do yourself a favor and save up for a better brand.
Ok I know I’m jumping on the bandwagon here. Regarding this repetitious music. If you have the skills to do that then you should be able to do a voice over and explain what and why you are doing something. The musics really detracts from the learning and trying to listen through it takes more effort than it’s worth. And I think it impacts your viewership and ratings. Just something to think about.
You have to call me 360-387-6918 and I will prepare one for you and you have to drive to my place in Washington sate, to pick it up. Will be for free. I can build one 8 ft or more and just the basic saw. If you wish also the router system I can do one for free also but will take a little longer. I will give you instructions you to build the table. it easy to disassemble and to transport.
Great, you have the greatest insert that the world has ever seen on a piece of shit saw. If you can find the r4512 with a blade that is square with the machine, which in my opinion is not possible, you still have a Fence that is absolutely 1/4" -3/8 " out of square. If accuracy is of any value to the user then run from this saw as fast as you can. The solution is to put on a 200-400 dollar fence that you'll need to retrofit. Not an easy solution and to consider the cost . Then your wasting your time. Get a better saw, and you won't find it at the Home Depot.. The Delta at least has a tsquare, but the motor is weak and that is a deal breaker.A motor that isn't powerful enough( guessing 1hp) will do two things.. Throw off your straight line, and worse cut your fingers off. A motor that is underpowered is prone to get your board jammed and a kickback is the worst thing that can possibly happen in a table saw.
How long did it take you to discover you had bought your "p o s saw"? If you had followed up on the problem perhaps you would have seen what a great saw this is for many of us. I hope you find the person who shit in your lunchbox and for pete sake, they have drugs for your condition.
Thanks Jareth! This is the cleanest and [seemingly] easiest version yet. Can't wait to try it! ☺
You are welcome. Glad to help !

Schroomer glad to hear. Mine also doesn't seam to have any issue as well.
my fence has been fine since I bought the saw 4 years ago.

sleepy03 thanks!!

Doug Sholly great idea with the flush trim. That’s way better!!

Amazon Canada does not carry the zero clearance insert for this saw. Too much in shipping to buy from the US. Thanks for this quick and simple video!
Nice insert but FUCKSAKE!! the music bro!!

Great tip. Thanks. Excellent presentation.

Hey Jareth, what kind of blade guides you have on your Ryobi band saw? I'd like to upgrade mine to this as well the factory ones are pretty Crappy!
They are actually the factor guides. I did spend a lot of time aligning them. And using a really sharp good quality blade is key!
This was so helpful thanks a lot!!

Chris Parks good question. I would like to think they would
Great vid!
How thick was the plywood?
Looks like 1/2"
Couldn’t you find more annoying soundtrack? I don’t know why people do that!
I think I could if you really want..... thanks for the view!

@@fern9234 says the guy who took his time to write a paragraph complaining about a complaint🔧
@@amorgan5844 I found the audio very distracting too. I muted it. Otherwise I wouldn't be able to enjoy it.
@@fern9234 The guy has a legitimate point. The audio was distracting. Replying to him harshness serves no point.
Everybody! All these videos are better with NO music.

Cool music.
Or... just buy one from ereplacement for $3?
Video Was good, The background "noise" kept me from subscribing, to annoying that is not background music

I invented a new Power saw named "Parallel Guided Power Saw" you can see on you tube. I can give you one 8ft for free to test.
David Muresan I just watched your video on the parallel guided power saw and it was amazing!!!!! I would love to test it out!

Washington.... I’m in Ontario Canada. That would be quite the drive. I’m not sure I would be able to.
will you pay for mailing? I can try to mail one by UPS.
David Muresan yes I would possibly be willing depending on the cost. Maybe you could get a estimate and we could go from there. Thanks so much!!!!
not buyin this saw to many complaints about fence accuracy
music sucks.
You suck

Earl Mace Agree 100%. and if it does need adjusting, a good woodworker would fix it without any issues. KABLAM!
