In the UK they don't use the brakes for figure 8 racing, instead they put on a show because the crowds expect hits.Looks like these guys were frightening of losing their damage deposits, they were perhaps five hits in the entire race.Way too much sandbagging here.
I find it funny that *one* bus out of the mix appeared to be in perfect condition. Didn't even have any spray paint on it. Maybe it was one of the towns bus drivers on his day off.
You gotta give 'em credit. It takes _h e l l a_ skill to avoid the other vehicles at that intersection, especially when they're this big. Great job to all the drivers.
@@jamescurfman3284 lol after the parents hear it there like "Honey, your buses just GOT SMASHED TO HELL IN A FIGURE 8 RACE so I will have to drive you AND IM PISSED BECAUSE I NEED MY SLEEP AFTER 3RD SHIFT, is that ok sweety pie
Despite the negative comments here, Frank was great. He was the classic voice of Sportsdrome Speedway. RIP Frank Scott. www.legacy.com/obituaries/louisville/obituary.aspx?n=frank-h-scott&pid=187342635&fhid=4747
I remember him as a kid, from when I do believe that he was the voice at Louisville Motor Speedway. It sounds like him, so I do believe this may be him. A voice that my 30 year old self remembers just as a small kid going to races.
Hmm, now you have me wondering. The game belonged to a friend of mine and we always played together. It was over 12 years ago but I remember us both getting baked and laughing like crazy people when we'd crash our buses into each other. The chicken battles were a riot as well. Good times. I'd love to play it again now.
Well I own the game myself, that is why I was wondering if it was some hidden thing. I beat the carrier mode, all the dares, and got every unlockable, and never ran across a figure 8 even where everyone was in buses. That said, doing a figure 8 with just you in the bus is still pretty fun, especially with the nitro boost feat enabled! Being able to do a bus, chain, or trailer race on any circuit, along with being able to choose your trailer in the latter, were some of the only shortfalls in that game. Eve of Destruction is still probably the best demo-derby video game out there, the variety of events were just insane!
Downloading an emulator and ROM now to try it again. I'm sure it won't be as fun playing by myself as it was with my crazy friend. We howled with laughter every time we played.
Ya they haven't for a while I think.. My buddy Jared Keener races super stock's out there... Go there every summer... Even though it is a distant drive from my house, it is worth to see the tradin paint... Last time we were there, believe it was a teen who ended up nose first into the wall right at the exit for pit by the beer garden....
Oscar C I'm already looking into it. hehehehe. It's the same thing as driving in town. We are always trying to dodged cars. I had a shirt made up that said," I am big yellow and I have red flashing lights. What don't u see?" hahaha
No, ya, somewhat.... ;) Depending on the driver. I drive special needs kids. This is my first yr doing it and it is harder for me. Otherwise when I drive a bus with kids on it I am like at home. :) Next year I am not taking a special needs run. It takes a certain person to do it and I have just become to old to do it. 5 years ago I would of loved it. I loved it now but my stomach didn't. If u understand what I mean. :) Did I even answer you question. LOL.This coming year I am going back to regular school. Which I love.
Oscar C Thank you. :)))) I watch people train for months for this job and then after the first week they are gone. You have to love this job to do it. :))) Which I do. :)))
Ms. Johnson, I trained for the job and didn't have any problem whatsoever. I was an all star applicant. Then I went to get my license and got totally jerked around by the government employee, setting a world record for quickest fail, and gave it up. I can't relate to stupid. I apologized to the school district, and they were sympathetic.
the point of a figure 8 is to tbone people its like a derby well its supposed to be this entire race "ohhhhh and another close call" there are like 2 minor hits so far very boring youre better of watching a bus derby
Having your left foot poised over the brake is absolutely essential here. And for all the idiots who've ever mindlessly parroted the unfounded mantra that you never left-foot brake, tell any race-car driver that. People who say that lack the skill to do so effectively. I've never confused power and brake.
This is crazy! Somebody is gonna get hurt. Why don't the DOT put up a stupid stop sign? There could have been children on those busses. Why must we always wait for an accident before we fix the problem.
And ANOTHER close call at the intersection!!
SgtPiggie a red light camera at the intersection would sound like a pinball game 😂
If I played a drinking game with that being the key phrase I would be tanked
That's pretty much what the whole race is, no need to say it 500 times.
5:33 that bus looks brand new!
9:44 you see it again still perfect!
That's some of the safest figure 8 racing ever!.......these guys should drive school buses for real!
if i had a dollar for every close call at the intersection...
You’d almost think that’s the whole point in fact. Lol
As soon as I got the lead I’d turn my flashing red lights on. Then it would be illegal to pass me
There was one bus that looks like it was just stolen and raced here
Caleb Levasseur hahaha it does.... good shot of it swerving at the screen @ 4:58 ->
Caleb Levasseur ikr xDDDD
Haha fr. I noticed that too. I thought it looked in great condition lmao.
all the others have had front fenders and such removed, and there is one there where a frantic bus driver is just caught up in this right?!?
Probably was lol

Waited for a big crash in the middle.. disappointed
Pyromaniac ikr the missed on purpose!
That's because the drivers are told to "make it look good."
You gotta give 'em credit. It takes _h e l l a_ skill to avoid the other vehicles at that intersection, especially when they're this big. Great job to all the drivers.
So this is why my bus always breaks down on the way home...
Jude Pelaez these buses may not be fit for road use. I'm sure you're just here for attention like me because we got no life
@@adamstilldrives stfu adam no one needs this shit from you
Always wondered where the bus went when I got dropped off from school
Wow that 1993 Gmc School Bus w/ bluebird body is still in perfect condition :)
Yep; should be converted into a camper. I was quite surprised such a nice looking rig was used this way.
CrazyDaveIowa - It didn’t appear to be any worse for the wear at the end of the race either, no hits at all.
pure insanity at 5:55
What almost every kid wishes to have happen to their bus, that way they could stay home! :)

My high school bus driver drove like that everyday. Good times.
School bus racing....WIN
Figure 8 racing....Double WIN
@2:23 Amazing timing!
it's better at 2x speed
+ViperACR01 Thats true thanks ;)
+ViperACR01 Even of more interest in reverse!
Wow
any another close call like a broken record :)
.....2 hour delays in the morning....now you know, the rest of the story. I'm Paul Harvey...Good day.

Riding in the back seat of one of those for a race would be a great way to make sure u PIT YOUR SHANTS!
I took a drink every time the announcer said "intersection"........I made it to the 4th lap.
They did this at our small local fair once and we never laughed, hooted and hollered so much. :D
this is an instance where riding on the short bus would be a huge advantage.
LOL!
best way to use old school buses
That one bus that looked brand new? Thats hilarious.
the last bus has not taking any damage, lucky!
Cameron Mao - It had to run a route the next morning.
So beautiful, I love it.
Greatest Sport Ever.
they are trained professionals. i dont think they are supposed to actually crash. just close enough to get you adrenaline pumpin lol
LaMortaGaming probably not trained professionals more like weekend enthusiasts that know what they are doing
Some of the buses are better than what we had in our school lmao 😂😂😂🤣
All of them are newer than our spares. And in better shape at the END of the race!
Anyone remember test drive 4 eve of destruction? This is awesome
Most American race ever.
never wanted someone to crash more in my entire life.
If the buses were actually full of children it would be a lot more tense.
Can't believe what I was just seeing... school buses racing around the track ...cool and hilarious...
No worries, they only have close calls at intersections, carry on, no fear, cheers to intersections!
You can see those three buses at 4:56 to 4:57 were slowing down at the intersection so they don't hit the leader.
My favorite PS2 game was Test Drive: Eve of Destruction. This fig 8 bus race and the trailer race were so much fun.
Shoe Chew Since when could you do a figure 8 bus race in that game? I guess you could race in a bus, but all the other people were still cars.
Hmm, now you have me wondering. The game belonged to a friend of mine and we always played together. This is sooooo much better than NASCAR!
What schools don't want you to know is that this is where the retired busses go
Great race.
I imagine Otto racing one of them with Ralph still inside
this is much more fun speeded up to 1.5,those near misses are so amazing. what a crazy race
Did anyone else see the perfectly fine school bus
Beat of the Rising Sun!
So THIS is how they conduct road tests for bus drivers...
LOL !!
Looks just like the school zones in Minneapolis at 3:40PM.
They could at least let the audience sit in the busses while they were racing 😂
Here in afrika, this is a normal day at the intersection.
7:00
Siamese twin bus 😬
Wow those guys ain't playin!
nice save
One of the buses seems to be in too great of shape to be in a race like that.
Pretty sure that was one of my bus drivers
Oh! The excitement. The tense is hardly bearable - almost as exciting as watching paint dry...
Интересно было бы увидеть Российский автобус в этой рубки)))
Ten minutes of close calls.
Just hitting each other would make it entertaining.
they should just put it on repeat over the speakers ' and another close call!!'
My kids on that bus.!
That was a close call... almost fell asleep
So that's why my bus was late 2 days ago
That all yellow bus can look like it ain't get touched
Colorado National Speedway doesn't use buses anymore.

Only way to fix the boring factor is to give points for hits.

Nice crash @ end
This would be a lot more interesting with actual children in the buses.
Looks like a normal intersection in India
They should have real school kids on them, the winner is the one with the most left alive at the end lol
Ok kids! Let's go to school!
that bus at 5:00 looks like its the only one with no damage
Surprisingly at the end of this video is about what my buses look like by the end of the school year lol
