I was in the US Army many years ago. I remember using various night vision devices. It seems like the technology has improved in the last couple of decades.
Actually, I think, there are a lot of UAVs now and they are equipped with thermal binoculars, they destroy the target in seconds, without losing human lives. Technology is really too advanced. i think If sometome take up a gun and go to war now, it's no different from committing suicide
I'm sure that the cost has gone down over the years. Pretty remarkable to get something like this for under $200 CDN which works out to be under $150 US. They work well for seeing in the dark though. I cant wait to further play around with them during the hunting season and I'm sure I'll integrate some of the footage in upcoming videos.
Hey Sean, that's the only way to go. Overall, it was good, though. I think if someone wanted Night Vision but didn't want to shell out a ton of cash, this thing by GTMEDIA is a real viable option. A few things here and there can be improved, but likely, those are the things that are keeping the cost as low as possible. Have a good long weekend!

Not only are they binoculars, but you can record with them also!! 😮That is so awesome. Last year during my hunting season I could hear the deer coming out but it was dark and couldn't see them. Being able to record them with this would be a game changer! Great review Dan! I agree that the video quality could be a little better, but all in all this is pretty cool. PS: I have the same shirt!!
Hi Henri, yeah it is really cool that you can record off them. The down fall though is they're permanent 5x magnification and 100% digital. If the battery is dead, they're useless. They feel like the same technology as you get from a trail camera to be honest. They do work well though in the night. Playing with them at the lake, if the kids were back in the trees in the dark you can really see them. You can capture details like how many fingers they were putting up - although most of the time, they were just flashing the middle finger at me, ha. Boys.... Great review Dan. As an outdoor creator myself I originally thought this might be a great addition to my camera collection. I didn’t quite see that the quality of video and pics being there though. The magnification of the binoculars didn’t appear that great either but the night vision would be fun. I know other brands give a lot better quality but I also know their prices are a lot higher for them as well. Always enjoy your honest reviews and looking forward to see how you incorporate video taken either these in future episodes!
Hi Geoff, when I reflect, I think you're right. The things that could be improved would probably dramatically raise the cost. So I guess this is a good introduction option if someone doesn't want to break the bank. I really liked the included accessories. Between the case, soft case, strap, and head mount, you get a good kit. Nice that they included an SD card, too. A lot of companies would Nickle and dime you on those things. I'd probably say you're getting $50 of extras included out of the gate. Something to consider!

Hey Susan, yes - the recording function is pretty handy. I really like that. I wish though that it had more magnification but it makes for a really good supplemental camera and should be useful during hunting trips. I'll post more footage on Shorts over the next few weeks.

I was a little worried when I saw the multi tool come in frame to tank the card out. I guess the nice it’s in though you can use the cord for managing files on it.
Geoff, the space you have to get those things out with your fingers is tough (unless you have long nails, lol). It's not abnormal for me to use the Leatherman on my other cameras too.
Yes, there's not a ton of space in there for your fingers. However, I usually use pliers to get into my other cameras, too. Plus, I can grip the card better with pliers versus dropping them with my clunky fingers. It was more tricky to figure out what side of the card faced up. I generally wanted to highlight the positioning of the card for anyone trying their N4 Nightvision Binoculars for the first time.
Yah! It could be a neat tool for that. The unit has its advantages and disadvantages, but generally, I think it's a good introduction tool compared to what other similar units cost!
Not too bad. Be interested in seeing how they hold up. I’d be more interested in using them to get to my blind before sun rise. It would be nice to not have to use a light. Great review Dan and I hope they work out well for you. Stay safe my friend 👍👍
Absolutely. They seem to work well to pick off things in night vision, but the IR seems to get noisy if you're trying to spot something way back in thick bush at night time. The IR overly brightens close objects so it's hard to see things further back. I'll try to post some more videos and pictures in my shorts feed over the next few weeks and I know I'll integrate footage into my hunting videos too this fall.

Haha! I'll add some more footage soon (likely as UA-cam shorts). The range isn't bad. It reminds me a lot of using a trail camera and the photos and videos you get at night time. After the 20% off $190, Canadian isn't too bad. I like that they included the Micro SD Card, the hard case, soft case, chest strap, and head mount. I believe a lot of other companies would charge these as add-ons. The disadvantages for me are picture and video quality. I imagine if that was better, the cost would probably blow up, too. It's a value tier product compared to competitors. If you're looking for a foot in the door on something like this , then the N4 Nightvision Binoculars by GTMEDIA might be a good option.
@@DCOutdoors I hope they send me something.. I've been eating carrots for years . We could test their night vision off mine . Am I right in saying that it is infrared enhanced ? That it uses an infrared torch of some sort ? I have a CCTV camera that has a cc'd called starlight which is so sensitive it doesn't require infrared . . Also my Sony alpha camera is so sensitive it can as I say , see in the dark . But pure darkness is different.
Thr night time footage is showing you 20 m with an inbuilt IR torch . Which is like a head torch. Do a proper night test please . . Cheers They say its 1080 p . But it looks 480p . Am i imagining that? How far away was that tree ?
I think you're about right. The hard where I was playing with it was about 20 meters. I don't know what you mean about an inbuilt IR torch. To me, the technology feels like what I get from using my trail cameras. I took some more night footage this weekend and I'll probably share some footage as Shorts. What made it difficult is that I wanted to use it out at the lake, but then the SD card didn't work. The company wanted me to turn over the review video in a certain timeline, hence why some of the testing that I was able to share was from my yard. I know, not ideal! I agree though that the footage, although it's supposed to be 1080p sure doesn't feel like it.
@@DCOutdoors I am looking forward to your tests good or bad. Every camera needs light . And the less light .. well then it's sure to be less likely to be sharp . So that's why I'm not knocking it. I just interested in all new technology . Thank you for your replys . It means a great deal to get such technical feedback from someone using a product . What I meant about inbuilt torch . Some times these devices project an infrared beam to help the camera . Infrared is invisible except to the camera . So they illuminate . But there is usual a beam on or beam off setting . Don't stress about time z just do a good job of your video . That for you z will take the time it takes you .
