Greatest TWIB blooper segment at 14:51. I especially love the music that plays with it, and I’ve still been unable to find it, in spite of my best desires.
Jim Bouton would win his next start against the Giants, his first ML win in eight years. In fact, in his next 21 innings, he would allow only 4 earned runs.
I was eleven years old and home for this. At camp, the Boston kids were celebrating but the Yanks had pulled within 7.5 when we went home. Magical times to be a kid but I was still more loyal to the Mets.
3:08--Bill Lee to Mickey Rivers: "You all right, Mick? Sorry you hurt yourself, but maybe you shouldn't have punched me in the back of my head two years ago."
I am on a pursuit to find footage of every Phillies game ever broadcast on tv. Clips like this are invaluable on my journey. Thank you. If anyone reading this has a channel or trove of Phillies footage please let me know
HELL YEA IT WAS!!! I was 14 yrs old in summer of '78. I started working at my pop's luncheonette. And we moved into a much bigger newer house a week before The Massacre. As much as I loved the special Going Away "gift" from the widow next door. What the Yanks did to the Red Sox that week was much better.
Lou Piniella's catch at 5:06 in a brutal late afternoon right field was a preview of sorts for the REAL key play of the Playoff game (bottom of the 9th, Jerry Remy's single).
1:03 - Reggie Jackson had a deep distaste for the Red Sox. I KNOW that feeling. My hatred for the Red Sox runs much deeper than my love for the Yankees - and I am a Yankees fan. The Red Sox are the most evil team in all of professional sports - worldwide.
Luke Enno: can a baseball team really be evil? i think the management, players and/or fans can be distasteful, certainly. might be splitting hairs here, in your opinion, but not mine.
agree. my dad taught me how to respect my elders....go brush my teeth after each meal...to do my homework....to help old ladies across the street....and to HATE, to LOATHE, to DESPISE, to utterly DEEPLY DEEPLY HATE bwoston,
Those were the days! I remember the Yankees' big comeback on the Red Sox in 1978 well. Loved Mel Allen and TWIB!
Thanks for this...one of child hero's reggie jackson, i like the way reggie put things in perspective.
Back when pennant races were for real.

I’ve now found it. Northern Soul by Miki Antony. It’s on iTunes.
The Astros' mascot Chester Charge at 17:58.

Philly fanatics has a lot of Phillies footage
Amazingly, the Yankees only hit 2 HR's in the 4-game sweep at Fenway. Looking at the scores, you'd think it was Bronx Bombers. Not quite.
Yeah, but to win the division title, a BIG HR was needed from a light-hitting shortstop.
Here in 2018. The. Tables have turned. Betwen those teams.
Don't forget Pinella's blind grab of a single in the sunlight to save the game.
Yes. They singled and doubled them to death in that series.
At 4:10, the Fenway scoreboard was emblematic of the entire series, NY 11-14-0, BOS 0-2-7.
boston massacre baby!! that was an epic season...unless you live in beantown.

oh and that bucky dent homer...yaz buckling under the realization that he'll never have a world series ring.

Sweet Lou could run
was this shown in such low video quality?
