    Thank you for another great review on the Mofi 1Step release. I really enjoy the info you mentioned in the video. I wish that I could tell the different sounds between the original copy and the Mofi. Unfortunately I have loss most of my hearing due to illness in my younger days. Thanks Melinda; I'm sorry I am late watching this. I always liked the eagles but I never dug into some of their deep cuts and recently I was at the thrift shop and found there first, cd , also greatest hits double album and the long run and I love the first album so much there's songs on there I have never heard before which are incredible. The production is amazing. I'm a music lover on a budget so I find CDs for $2 that are like brand new and they sound really good. I know you are a record channel but at the end we are music lovers and I enjoy your enthusiasm.

    Melinda, you are my favorite reviewer, not because I look and feel the same way about many things ..... it's your delivery, enthusiasm and it's infectious. Again I haven't received my copy yet but now I'm extra confident that I will love it like the others, In Krieg we trust! I can't wait for VHII but I understand we may have to wait till summer for that. I think the boxes for the 45 RPM's will remain the size we're used to but the 33.3"s will be the more narrow box, which is fine with me. Thank you so much for this review, you got me even more excited for when mine arrives.

    This was an excellent review on your part. One of your best and this isn’t even a top three Eagles album for me. But your review was well put together. As always you managed to add that little “Melinda Touch” to your video when you were talking about the old CBS Friday lineup. I loved that part. It brought back memories. One of my grandma’s favorite shows right before she died was the Incredible Hulk, which I thought was so cool and unlike her normal taste. I love the sweatshirt you’re wearing. My wife would look great in that but she wouldn’t wear it because she’s not much of an Eagles fan lol. Awesome video! Have a great week and I hope everything turns out ok for your family and friends.

    This was one of the first Eagles lp's I purchased when I was around 12 and it was a new release at the time. I still have it and listen to it from time to time it plays beautifully but the cover does have some ring wear because keeping albums in a plastic cover was not a thing in the late 70's. This album reminds me of the movie the Warriors which I think premiered the song "In The City" on the first side of the album. At the time the movie had some controversy, and like you I probably should not have watched it at my age like Dallas. I think I saw it in the early days of HBO when you had a set top decoder box just for that channel. Again Melinda you bring back great memories of my childhood! Take Care.

      I was listening to Disco 🪩 in 1979. Chic, Sister Sledge, Donna Summer and a lot of R&B. But, then again I really never liked rock music or the Eagles very much. I still do have their greatest hits volume 1 which does have some great songs on it. One Of These Nights is probably my favorite by them. But, I loved the Disco era so much. And they were so many great underground Disco songs in the late 1970’s. I call it the forgotten era of music. 🎼

    Great video Melinda - one memory of this LP is Blondie's "Eat To The Beat" LP was being blocked from achieving #1 on the Billboard charts - my favorite song is "I Can't Tell You Why" it has a great vocal and a tight bass sound - I always liked Sterling Sound pressings and my original still sounds good - during 1979 and until 1983 the record companies were recycling vinyl but The Eagles insisted on virgin vinyl for this release - most of us didn't know about pressings good or bad but I was lucky to have a primo sound system being a musician/composer and I'm so glad you know your stuff, it makes me happy❤See you next week!

You noticed the bands personal appearance in their photos changed from Hotel California to The Long Run and so far from listening to the 1st three songs that they are talking about growing up in this album. I could be reading into this but I don't think so. Hello Melinda ! The Eagles are one of those bands that crept up on me , a band I didn’t actively search out. One day in the late 80’s , I suddenly realised I liked a LOT of their output. Then I became a dad , and then again , and then a third time. When the dust settled early 10’s , I returned to ”the dark side” (haha , pun most surtainly intended). Great review Melinda. "The Long Run" isn't an LP that I go back to much. I don't recall the last time I played it to be honest. It does take me back to a time when I started to travel a little. First trip on my own was up north to our Gold Coast in Queensland. This album was fairly new from memory. I seem to recall hearing it around the resort I stayed at. Given that it followed their previous million seller around 3 years later, it kind of felt like an afterthought in a way. I don't recall it being that well received. "Hotel California" was a hard act to follow after all. This was a time of punk evolving into New Wave and groups like the Eagles were being seen as 'bloated dinosaurs'. Fleetwood Mac also had similar problems following up "Rumours" with to their 2LP "Tusk". I envy your opportunities to be exposed to these types of releases. I wouldn't mind a MOFI version of "Hotel California" as my original Australian pressing sounds a tad flat. You mentioned a 'wider sound stage' with this One-step and it's something I noticed with the Dylan, Santana & Beatles MOFI's I own. I've not gone much into MOFI but maybe HC will be the next choice? I'd appreciate your thoughts on that one. Love your work Melinda. Cheers 😊😊😘

    Hi Melinda , i too remember that time when Dallas ( and all those other nighttime soaps - Falcon Crest , ect ) , Dukes , Love Boat .... ect were all the rage .... I,m a dude but i,m happy to say i watched them all . I bought and still have Hotel California in 1977 on Vinyl .... unfortuately , i bought The Long Run on 8-track tape ... which like most of those died a long time ago and i,ve yet to get a vinyl copy . I have to say i much prefer The Long Run over Hotel California --- i just perfer the music on that record more . My favorite track is " Those Shoes " Yes , it is a talk-box in the song - Joe Walsh first used it on "Rocky Mountain Way " ) , great tune !! I,ll use this as a push the get out and buy a vinyl copy ! Great Vid as usual ! ☺ Enjoy your day Melinda

    Good video, as usual. Because of this video I ordered a copy of this Mofi album.
    I don't think I'd heard why Randy Meisner had left the group. I am not surprised. Randy is from a small Nebraska town and I could see the stress of touring getting to him. He did OK with his Degnan's Deli store.
    My wife has a connection with Randy Meisner, growing up around Scotts Bluff, Nebraska. Her mother was married wearing a bowered wedding dress which was Randy's mother's.
    It would be hard to find, because it was a record club edition, but it was pressed at Columbia, Santa Maria. They only used premium virgin vinyl. An SRC pressing is also probably better than a Monarch pressing. Monarch tended to use cheaper materials making their records. Because of a harder record material, the Monarch pressings tend to be louder. Another good original copy would be an SRC pressing. It's funny that they would use 2 different So.Cal pressing plants, Monarch and Allied. Both companies would merge.

    • @MelindaMurphy
      @MelindaMurphy  2 місяці тому +1

      Thanks for the details regarding my pressing. The vinyl on my pressing doesn't sound like virgin vinyl but the pops and clicks could also be the consequence of the record being played on a low quality turntable. Monarch for the most part was a pretty good pressing plant. 🤗
      What a cool story regarding Randy Meisner's mom and her wedding dress. Let me know what you think of the One Step. Thank you and take care.

      @@MelindaMurphy Monarch was fast and cheap. Until the 1980's, Monarch pressed 45's on polystyrene(promos were sometimes vinyl). The vinyl they used was the lowest quality available. They had pops and ticks from day one. Playing records on most lower quality turntables won't usually damage them and especially won't cause pops and ticks. Those happen because of pressing defects, lower quality vinyl and from improper storage. Love your videos!

    I just got this one last weekend. I have only given it one spin, the pitch on my turntable was acting up. I fixed it, but I was listening more to hear if I had fixed the pitch than I was listening to the album. So I have to give another spin. I will say that I did notice how great I Can’t Tell You Why sounded. Heartache Tonight has always been one of those songs you gotta turn up, and the drums sound great, not just on this one. It does indeed sound like Don’s playing right there in your home. I agree though that The Greeks Don’t Want No Freaks is a throwaway track. As I understand it, tensions were running high when they were making the album and Glenn wasn’t bringing much to the sessions. So they didn’t have a lot to pick from. Still it ended up being a great album.
    I don’t know, for some reason I just really love so much of the music that came out in 1979. Lots of great albums that year. Disco was on its way out, new wave was creeping in, it was a weird time for music, but so many great songs came out.

    • @MelindaMurphy
      @MelindaMurphy  2 місяці тому +1

      Hopefully, you will have your turntable working right and you can enjoy this One Step soon. ♥️ All of the other songs on this album are really good so one throwaway is ok. Lol. It's amazing to think Hotel California was such a huge hit a couple of years before this. I think this was a wonderful follow up.
      I agree that the music of 1979 was incredible. ♥️🤗 Thank you and take care.

    If they put out their Greatest Hits I may be tempted, I’m kind of an Eagles Greatest Hits Fan though I did really like Hotel California. Shaggy hair that was never washed. Rock stars in the early 70s seemed to like the greasy hair look. Nice review Melinda.

      @MelindaMurphy  2 місяці тому

      Yes, the "I don't bath" look was very popular in the 70's. And yet, when I see that clean cut version of the Eagles, it just doesn't look right. Lol. Thank you Steve and I hope Denver is treating you well - snow and all. ♥️🤗

  • @Bootradr
    @Bootradr 2 місяці тому

    It's funny you mentioned the "Greeks" song. I never can remember the title of that song for some reason. But I always thought they could have either left that song off of the album or put another song on in place of it haha.
    I went to the Southwest Audio Fest in Dallas at the Anatole Hilton on Saturday. While the modern high-end audio gear, like the $25,000 per speaker or more type stuff, is way outside of my price range, it was enjoyable getting to check out some of the demos. I just have not been able to get into jazz and unfortunately they don't play rock and roll during these demos. But I can understand why they demo new wave and jazz types of music and it's because of the clarity of sound in the individual horns and instruments or the individual sounds these types of music present. But I still had a great time and I did spend $200 on records.
    One of the first albums I was looking at was Eagles The Long Run. One of the vendors had two original copies but I didn't realize at the time I was going to find so much I was interested in, it was early in my browsing through the LPs, and I put those back thinking they were a little pricey. Had I known I was going to buy so much and be able to negotiate such a great price break, I might have gotten one of those The Long Run LPs. The only Eagles LP I have that came from Walmart is their The Long Run album and it really sounds good. The rest of my Eagles collection consists of a mix of original Asylum label copies and some of the remasters. But I know there's much better sounding copies of The Long Run out there too and that's part of the fun of the search looking for them! I didn't even realize the MoFi One Step of the album was coming out right now.
    Ironically, and I love the unreleased (what they call bootleg) audio, I did buy a really good sounding 2 LP set of an early 1973 Eagles show with some filler material from their 1974 Ontario show ending out the tracks on side 2 of LP 2. It wasn't any material I didn't already have in lossless FLAC files or even on DVD video. But I wanted to hear it on vinyl and I'm glad I got it. This vendor had some great rarities/bootleg material and I got a 2 LP 1977 Fleetwood Mac concert, a Rush 2 LP 1974 concert, and a few other concerts that I wanted to hear on vinyl. I also found a specific Santana album I've been holding off on getting from an eBay seller because he hasn't replied back After I've messaged him twice about what he's selling. And I got it at a much better price. I don't get to get out too often and record shop and see what I'm buying like I wish I could so I really enjoyed it :-)
    But getting back on topic with your video, I do wish I had gone back and picked up that original The Long Run. It's not my favorite Eagles album but I really do like some of the music and songs on that album. And Timothy B Schmidt does do a wonderful job in the band too. I really like his vocals on I Can't Tell You Why. That song holds some special memories for me but more from the later 1980s era when I was hearing it a lot more. I bet that One Step version sounds spectacular! And getting a promo copy is awesome also. I'm glad that Mobile Fidelity is sending you the promo copies you are getting and I can't think of anyone more deserving or who would enjoy and appreciate them more than you do Melinda! I definitely can't think of a better way to kick back, unwind, and relax at the end of the day as you mentioned either 👍👍
    Thanks for the review Melinda and maybe in the long run I'll wind up with a one step copy of The Long Run hehe :-)

      I am hoping to go to an audio show soon. I would love to demo different speakers and systems like that. Jazz was always so well recorded. That's why they like to play it for demos.

    My One-Step of The Long Run (#1182) arrived yesterday and I really do like the job that Mofi did. I have a 1979 Canadian pressing, the Mofi SACD and a 192/24 FLAC file, and they all sound great. In truth, I did not hear a huge difference between the 1979 and the One-Step, with a slight edge to the One-Step due to the wider sound stage and brand new vinyl. The original is great too. I do have the full set of Eagles One-Steps so I was buying no matter what! Cheers

    The Long Run was the fourth album I ever owned (after Little River Band's First Under the Wire, Eagles' Their Greatest Hits 1971-75 and Hotel California respectively). I still think a great album and it's ironic they imploded with a hard rock album and Pink Floyd's The Wall was released that December and they too imploded as Roger Waters' ego forced Rick Wright out of the band and Led Zeppelin's In Through the Out Door was also released in latter half of 1979 and they broke up due to Bonzo's death. Styx started to splinter with Cornerstone which its sound was a 180 from the Prog Rock leanings of their first 8 albums and you can blame Punk and New Wave shaking rock to the core (Styx going to England during Year Three of the Punk explosion shook the band so they had to change to survive otherwise implode like ELP, Gentle Giant and Yes). KISS' original lineup imploded on the Dynasty Tour in late 1979. Genesis went mercifully on break due to Phil Collins' personal life gone to shambles.

    Funny...not one comment from viewers about the sound differences between the og and the new mfsl.
    Pretty weird. Personally I prefer my US original pressing. It has more warmth and the bass is super punchy and boomy. The soundstage might not be as wide, but I prefer the og sound. The same thing happened to me with Jeff Beck's Truth...although that one was actually recorded in mono and I later found out firsthand that an og UK mono is by far the best sounding version of that lp....which is really weird for me since I am not a big fan of mono(although some lps do sound better in mono).

      @@MelindaMurphyI didn't mean pretty weird about your musical commentary...I actually thought it was excellent, and I agree that it is all quite subjective. Everyone's equipment is different as is their listening space and their musical tastes as well as do they play at high volume or not. I was saying I thought it was pretty weird that nobody else talked about how the lps sounded, etc.

    Man, I thought MoFi hit it out of the park with the first two Eagles releases. I haven’t heard the middle two, Hotel California to me was very, very bright on LP1, almost overwhelmingly tinny. LP2 2 I thought was done more evenly, but it’s by far the inferior songs. The Long Run, to me, was a band at the end of their rope, and it showed in the overall weakness of the songs on the album. Even though it’s got good songs, it’s another record with a useless second side. I do want to hear them, but I don’t want to pay for them just yet. P.s. the original 1984 Hotel California is to me greater than theOne Step. I’ll take that to my grave. Lol

      I respect your opinion. 🤗♥️ I personally prefer the One Step but the original MoFi is pretty great. The Eagles had probably burnt themselves out around the time of The Long Run but I still love that album. The title track still sounds like a breath of fresh air to me. I never get tired of it. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with me. ♥️🤗 I really do appreciate it. Take care.

    Why wouldn’t it sound better, it’s 12x the price. I love your channel but I think people have lost sight of “listening to some tunes”. . A transistor radio is still listening to tunes . Don’t need a $150 record or $20,000 system to enjoy music.

      I agree. We can listen to music in much more affordable ways. Personally, I like the sit down listening experience that the One Steps provide with more clarity and details. I compare it to having a burger or a steak. Both are enjoyable but one is a more premium product. Thank you and take care. 🤗♥️

    The new Mobile Fidelity is a complete disappointment. I'm still waiting for them to send information on when I can return one of their albums they claimed was all analogue when it wasn't. They make the sale in a flash, but they hold on to refunds with a pair of pliers. As I said, it's a complete disappointment. Sorry Melinda, I won't watch videos that talk about the new MoFi. Look forward to when you get back to the wonderful other topics you talk about. 👍💖🎸😎

      @@MelindaMurphyI’m finding myself buying CD’s more than vinyl. Because, they’re much more affordable. I still buy vinyl don’t get me wrong. But, paying $35.00 for a single album of a current artist is a bit steep. I bought the new Ariana Grande Eternal Sunshine at Target for $34.99. The album is 34 minutes long. This is like a $dollar a minute. This is expensive in my opinion. Yes, it’s her best album. But, this is expensive. Especially when the CD was $11.99. So CDs are a better deal.

    Hi Melinda Murphy**
    Gerard Stroh!!!
    I Like The Eagles and I Like The Songs of the Eagles Music***
    Here Is A Note About 45 rpm LP's Pressing that Are Made in That Speed Melinda Murphy***
    45 rpm Speed LP Are Like Playing A Professional Master Tape on A Studio Reel to Reel Deck That Is Recorded At 15 ips Tape Speed and The Treble Frequancy's Are Better Melinda Murphy and The Bass Freqancy's Are Punchy and Deeper and You Get Less Record Noise and Like A Master Tape You Don't Get Innergroove Distortion on A Master Tape and You Can Record The Signal So Much Hotter on the Tape Deck and I Can Record A CD or Record on A Pro Studio Reel to Reel Deck into The End of The Red on The VU Meter and The Sound Does Not Break Up Melinda Murphy***
    I Went to A Recording Studio Once And Heard A 16 Track 2 inch Reel to Reel Deck That The Beatles or Michael Jackson Might Haved Record On And It Blue My Mind and I Have To Get A Tape Machine Like That and I am Not Kidding and You Think Records Sound Good You Have To Hear These Machines in Action Melinda Murphy****
    My 1967 Ampex 4 track 1/2 inch Pro Reel to Reel Console Deck I have it is A Beast of an Machine****
    That's Why I Love Pro Reel to Reel Tape Machiners and 45 rpm Pressing on my Stereo System****
    Great Video Melinda Murphy****
