Thanks for posting this. The differences in the step sequence and choreo could be why he felt he needed to give this another season. Like he never got the chance to give it all he wanted to last year.

Yea judges only gave a step sequence 3 at SC but he got overall more GOE in SC compared to COR
I noticed that too. Wonder why they gave him lvl 3 instead of 4 like his other Otonal performances. And i think the slight changes in SC was better.
@@rnrbnl7097 it is because he lost a cluster at one point. At some turn, his speed decreased, probably because he heard a pop and felt that there was a rip on his costume that he lost concentration.
@@TheAndchipzz I watched his SC perf from somewhere else and they were discussing exactly that cluster and laughing about it at kiss and cry but Brian did argue he was still on one foot. Thanks :))
@@rnrbnl7097 If you listen to TSN where Tracy Wilson was commentating, Yuzuru lost a cluster in his Step Seq.
But I dont think it's related to the tear in his costume. Yuzuru said in an intv that he felt his blade pull the costume during one of his spins. Thankfully there's a white inner lining

His world record deserves to stay unbroken.
Like in his FS, he tried to leave more room before the monster jumps in the tweaked layout for SC.
On another note, I like his original costume better. The cut is so distinctive--the high waist line slanting upwards and the v-neck resemble the attire of an English gentleman character in Oscar Wilde's novels, somehow. Very princely.
Same with Origin's original costume. It was fiery, black and gold (vs the flowery purple now), befitting the theme that is the birth of Japan. The material seemed to consist of individual, leaf-like shapes pieced together to resemble the vesicular texture of a volcano, which is a distinctive geographical feature of Japan.
In on the other hand, didn't think that brown/gold did anything for him last year.
Well, it did end up getting broken at the 2020 4 Continents by 1.29 (By Yuzuru himself) with Ballade No. 1 at 111.82

Why does Hanyu in SC 2019 got a step sequence 3 at 2:51 while he got step sequence 4 in COR 2018? Did he missed some turns or steps? I do not really see the difference.... Sorry I don't know much about skating.
He received lots of step sequences 3 last season too for this program and I can't understand why. It seems to me that others get a 4 with less complicated stuff
He missed a cluster in his step sequence in Skate Canada 2019 which was one of the requirements to receive a level 4 step sequence, it's around 2:20, you can also see him laugh about it around that time. It's not included in this clip but when he and his coaches were watching the replay while at the kiss and cry, they were laughing and discussing it lol

He was distracted by a possible tear in his costume. That's why the first thing he did when he finished his routine was to check the side of his top.
@@fsfs3959 he could have also lost the points for not raising his hands in the combination jump, specifically in the triple toeloop in case of skate canada.
Do skate Canada and NHK. I feel like he changed his choreography in the beginning and it doesn’t flow as good as the skate Canada one.
