Isla Blanca park jetty trying my luck with the spoon

- We ended up trying our luck at the jetties again. Lots of people were coming back with kings and jacks. rapala X-rap lures (the bigger ones 14cm) and the 3oz. spoon were working well for those types of fish. Unfortunately we weren't able to land any kings or jacks but we did get to learn a lot from a few experienced anglers . Hope you guys enjoy the video and thanks for watching!

Im watching you angler! cant wait to find a new spot for my chan. Keep at it, maybe we can make some lines scream soon!
I appreciate it brother thanks for watching .I'm always down to make videos with other UA-camrs. Usually I go Thursdays and Sundays. But we can definitely make a day and head out soon
@@fishingwithleo I'll be there Saturday at the jetties morning to aim for Kings. I'll be wearing my GoPro. Should be good weather. Let's slay them!
@@Just-In4Reels if I am able to get that day off I'm down But I usually work Saturdays . I will try to be out there this weekend
Always look forward to your videos. From someone who grew up there, and can't wait to move back, it's a great reminder of all the fun times I had with family fishing the jetties and pier.
I appreciate your videos! I'm trying to get a feel for the area. I will likely be reloacting from Florida to your area in the future. I'm really keen to do some spearfishing, even though the water is a little murky out there. You ever see anybody dive around the jetties? It can be tough to find shore dive spots that won't put you in the way of the hook and line fishermen. I've found some videos of people spearing around the jetties, wondering how doable that really is.
Yea man all the time. I always see ppl go during sheepshead season. Not a lot but there's a few ppl that always go but definitely doable
@@fishingwithleo Awesome! That's really encouraging! Thank you for the info and the great videos!
🦈
Awesome video. What month was this?
@@mogmognomdom not to sure but must of been during the summer of last year
Great video Leo always watching you never know what you gonna get..Them friends their caught some monsters even the guy with the shark.hope you catch some monsters on sunday
Tss los rendon bros dropping hella knowledge that’s what’s up 🔥 badass video 💯🎣🔥
Going down Sunday for my honey moon. Mind if I ask you a few questions about the fishing down there?
No not at all the fishing has been a little slow right now for me at the jetties. Best bet might be at gaymans or the pirates landing pier
@@fishingwithleo my question is, can you bring a wagon onto the jetties. It looks to rocky to bring there. Also is there any type of rod holder I can purchase specifically for the jetties?
@@GCRANDOMVIDEOSHD yea you can take a wagon but it's Abit of a challenge taking it on the rocks. When I take one usually I help my brother take it out there. But for one person it could be a challenge especially if you are planning to go far out there. As for rod holders any rod holder will do. As long as it's Abit light. I just find a place for it and jam it between some rocks
@@fishingwithleo sweet, also I’m trying to throw a huge spoon like that when I go down. Would 30lb mono + a steel leader be good enough? Or like what would you recommend
@@GCRANDOMVIDEOSHD it pretty much depends on your set up. I have a 10 ft rod with a 6000 Penn reel. And I use 65 lb braid. With 108lb wire leader. Some people use smaller rods like 9 or 8 ft. As for braided line it kinda depends on the brand that you get as well. I have suffix line.
The shark lol 😂
🤣
Yo what’s up Leo, saw you today on the way out of the jetties. Wanted to stop and say what’s up but the storm was getting bad. I was the kid with the king walking out, caught it on the popper🔥🤙🏾
Awesome job brother! And yea it was pretty bad bro that storm ruined my fishing. I will be there again tomorrow
I'm going tomorrow, so I'll try the spoon out
I will be out there too going early
I'll try doing the same
And once it starts heating up, I'll probably leave lol.
@@johnnyboxer6671 same might be Abit rough though
Not going to catch something every time. I’ll be there next weekend on Sunday. Hope to see you there!
Hey how do you get on that side of the park?
Sorry Not sure which side you mean.
The dolphin cove side ?
@@fishingwithleomy bad I thought you were on the other jetties! My bad and thank you. Love watching your videos
What were those guys using to catch those big fish? What is the correct gear exactly? I will be down there next week and plan on going here. Thanks!
Was it the Rapala X-Rap with steel leaders?
@@kylehawkins4664 hey brother thanks for watching and asking. it's the bigger x-rap lures they sell them at quick stop in port Isabel. SWP in Brownsville will be getting some lures as well very soon. Also make sure it's not the big lipped deep diver one. same size lure but with a smaller lip. I will try and post pictures on my UA-cam later today. 3oz. Spoons work very very good as well And they are cheaper. But That day those fish were very active which is why a lot of people were catching. I was using a spoon with 80lb mono. As for the right gear i said that because I didn't buy the rings for the spoons ( They don't come with rings on top of the spoon) or put on the right barrel swivels on it with the right leader wire. Which is why I got cut off and lost my lure. Hope it makes sense brother will try and post pictures later today.
@Fishing with Leo awesome! Thanks for the reply. This will be my first time so I'll take any help I can get!
@@kylehawkins4664 for sure man no problem. I will be out there next week as well. I try to go on Thursdays and Sundays. I will try and post as much info as I can in my next videos.
@@fishingwithleo thanks man I appreciate you. I'll be there all next week, maybe we will run into each other!
i havent seen a lot of wire leader material now-a-days,
i still have some that i found at walmart about 12 years ago (thats how long i havent gone fishing) but its only 10 and 20 lb.
Bought some yesterday at academy. They had them at 4 or 5 bucks
damn.
