Ive been researching CNC machines and settled on a longmill partially based on your review. I have a few pre-sales questions and emailed them twice and called but go no answer. Today they put out a video about delays that they are having so now Im reconsidering my options. Oh, well.
They are a small company who have recently launched a very popular machine. The fact that have addressed delays is actually a positive move, its good communication. I've had a good experience with them but you need to do what you're comfortable with
My longmill just got to detroit and should be delivered next week so I really enjoyed your MK2 video. Will there be more MK2 videos in the future? Thanks again for all the information you share with us, it makes life easier when learning is just a click away.
Glad to see that you are reviewing Longmill, in addition to Sainsmart and FoxAlien machines. Will you be reviewing the 1313 XY-Axis Extension Kit, for the Sainsmart PROVerXL 4030 V2 anytime in the near future? Keep up the good work!
I was planning to do it around now but at the time they couldn't send me one suitable for the UK so I had to plan other content but may go back to it later on.
Hey James, I was thinking about getting the 3030-PROVer MAX from your other review with the Makita router to cut small aluminum parts on occasion, but I also want to get a larger machine mainly for wood such as this Longmill or the Ultimate Bee in my new workshop. Do you think that I can completely skip the 3030-PROVer MAX and use these larger machines to cut aluminum? Would this Longmill or the Ulmate Bee be able to cut aluminum similarly to the 3030-PROVer MAX?
The LongMill is good for large scale vs budget, but is not good for machining soft metals. The UltimateBee is better but geberally speaking the larger the machine, poorer they will perform machining metal
Generally speaking, it's the most common suggested alternative to the Sainsmart and FoxAlien machines. But I'll be going into more detail as part of my full review
@@JamesDeanDesigns thanks James. I’m running into limits of my 3030 faster than I expected. Am thinking Shapeoko 5 with vfd next but that’s 5k and a lot bigger floor space. Will see
@SamPosten have Google. Actually Sience are getting ready to release a new machine called the AltMill. Not sure if they have set a price yet but may be worth waiting for
Seems to be working for me although it does look like youtube has changed the way they display which is odd but youtube is trying to run its own membership program now
My hope is to test multiple over time. The LongMill is the most common suggested alternative. The Onefinity are popular but also quite a bit more expensive so starting at the cheaper end
Its feeling like it is so far. Not everyone will need the sensors, I never used them on my 3018 for example so it helps keep the cost down which is one of their main goals really.
correction. concentric nuts, not eccentric nuts. concentric, meaning not centered in it's orientation. sorry, it triggered me every time you said it. idk why lol. cool review. love my longmill!
Concentric means that the holes would be in-line with each other. In this case the threaded hole is offset from the bore of the nut, making them eccentric 👍 Glad you love your CNC!
Its ok, we all have our triggers 😆 I've only ever known them as eccentric nuts and I'm not saying the internet is always right but if you Google concentric nut it literally says did you mean eccentric nut...either way, hopefully people know the type of nuts it uses
@@JamesDeanDesigns wow ok you are right. Concentric means centered. It's just one of those words that does not sound like what it means. English is hard.

Love mine had it for over a year now
This video is FANTASTIC. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!

Thank you. Not sure at the moment. If I do it will likely be the second half of the year
What's the cheapest router you'd recommend for cutting and filleting 12mm 7075 aluminium alloy plates?
Thanks.
Hi James an excellent video very comprehensive, I live in a 240v area will my 240v router work on the Longmiil CNC
Yes, the router plugs in separately so that should be fine 👍
Thank you
Thnx for the vid , just ordered mine today …. Would a bit of loctite on some of those bolts be a good idea or no ?
Yes, if you have some. Never hurts 😁
Really nice 👍
Why they use lead screw and not ball screw? 🤔
Would bump the price up quite a bit. Their goal was to keep this machine as affordable as possible
Really good and thorough explanation. Will you be reviewing the Nymolabs 6040 CNC sometime in the future?

Take a look at the UltimateBee if your budget goes that far...better than the shapeoko 👍

I'm really behind in my work on this machine so sadly u can't really give much feedback but size versus cost this is a good option

Didn't go for onefinity?

Seems like a cool machine, though it is strange that they don't ship it with limit switches by default.

@@JamesDeanDesigns I had to fit a microswitch on mine as I kept pulling the nut assembly out by going too far to the left when homing !
