Most successful Monkees single and story goes that Goffin and King had earned enough from song writing to move from New York to the suburbs in New Jersey. Goffin didn’t take to life in suburbia and this came out in the lyrics of Pleasant Valley Sunday. Taken by the opening guitar riff which is down to Michael Nesmith, with Peter York on piano and Micky Dolenz might have been on acoustic guitar as Eddie Hoh was on drums. The lead vocal by Mickey Dolenz was added later. Never got into the TV series but the music was top notch. Sounding so sharp and clear on the remix Pat, especially drums and lead guitar. Another thankyou for pleasure given.
Wow, Pat; I'm surprised you don't have way more comments by now on this one! My sister had the first big three and I got to know every one of them. I think this song was on #4. I'm not very technical when it comes to music. It sounds good, I like it. I'm guessing Mickey was center and far right, Davey was 10° left of center and near the end, I thought I heard Mike around 20° right of center. The drums were great and the entire mix was so well balanced. How can one pick a favourite Monkees song. The first three albums should have been almost all hits. I have so many favourites so I'll just give Shades Of Gray a special mention. My dad made my brother and me each a crystal radio back in the mid 60s and I used to put the headphones on when I went to bed. I recall hearing many songs from 1967 in particular and I'm A Believer was one of them. Thank you, Pat for this remixed gem.
Thanks Bill. In the original stereo mix, Mickey Dolenz is in the centre, with the backing vocals a bit to the left. I like the vocals to be in full stereo, whenever possible. And I also made my first crystal set in 1967 !

This is a odd mix , you changed the vibe of the record by putting the drums and other parts in stereo field. It sounds very modern and loses the radio old time vibe from the original but guess what ? , I like it !!!. Also you fixed the certian high frequencies part in Mickys vocal which was a problem in the original and various remixes and you made it sound nice and warm. I think because you put the drums up in the stereo field might have done it or you just did something to warm up the vocals. Great job. I just downloaded this mix. Keep up the good work.
