  • SUSPECT SOUGHT IN LAKE PROVIDENCE BUSINESS FIRE INVESTIGATION
EAST CARROLL PARISH (May 11, 2023)- The State Fire Marshal’s Office is actively seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a suspect wanted in connection with a commercial structure fire in Lake Providence that destroyed three businesses more than a year ago.
Around 1:45 a.m. on Friday, January 7, 2022, the Lake Providence Fire Department responded to a call for a fire in the 200 block of Lake Street. The fire consumed a large commercial building that housed three separate businesses.
Following an assessment of the scene, deputies determined the fire began inside the back area of the Glass House Bar. After extensive investigative efforts, including obtaining video evidence, deputies determined the fire was intentionally set and are now looking for a male suspect in the case.
In the attached surveillance video, a figure with a slim build can be seen entering the back door of the Glass House Bar. Seven minutes later, the same individual exits the structure. Within two minutes, evidence of fire can be seen as smoke starts pouring out of the building.
The suspect appears to have been wearing dark-colored clothing and is last seen running in a southern direction down U.S. 65. It is unknown whether the suspect eventually used a vehicle to leave the area further.
The SFM is asking anyone with information about this person’s identity and whereabouts to contact the SFM Arson Hotline at 1-844-954-1221 or share the information through our online tip form found at lasfm.org.
