    using a airless sprayer you always need a reservoir of paint once the bucket or can gets low it wont spray any more even though the hose and pump are still full of paint and it quite a bit of paint. You have to push through with water or another gallon of paint. you can only use about 2 thirds of a gallon the rest cant be sprayed without pushing it with more liquid. I just returned my X5 for that reason.

    When you switch from the primer to the enamel, how do you clean the graco for the enamel? Do you completely clean before switching?

    when you use the blue guard, do you also have to change the One Seal ? The documentations on Graco sites distinguish between the One Seal for bleu and orange guards.

    This is excellent! I'm beyond disgusted to say that Graco has done a MISERABLE job of explaining that those low-pressure tips can be used with the ProX17, as long as you purchase the appropriate tip guard. Their manual says nothing...their videos explain in reasonable detail what the various tips for for, but they say nothing about being able to use them on the various machines, as long as you have the appropriate tip guard. Graco, as far as I can tell at this point, makes a quality product. But, nut-less monkies have better communication skills that that company. So, thank you for explaining in less than 10sec what Graco failed to do with 3 videos, and an entire manual.

    Just used the SW Emerald urethane for an entertainment center, question is, there are areas where it feels rough; if you want your project to have a completely smooth finish, do you sand after your final coat of paint? If so, do you use sandpaper or steel wool, any suggestions?

I will cover the floor, and do I need to leave the garage door open. Im using the graco magnum painter plus. Also, the directions say a black 311 tip works well for cabinets and doors??

    Can you change paint sheens or even colors without going through the full-blown cleaning process? I've got to spray some gloss and satin in the same exact color. Can I just change liners with the new paint and "flush" out the previous sheen? What about colors, anyone changed colors by just changing paint and spraying until the old color has bled out?

      yeah, since there are no numbers on the X5 dial, you start low, test spray, slowly turn it up til the fan of test spray is even from end to end.

    My paint project only needs 1 gallon of paint (I think). With the Magnum X5, should I be worried about it sucking too much paint from the can just to keep the hose full? Would a shorter hose be advisable?

    • @buildwithbc
      @buildwithbc  3 роки тому +3

      You’ll be ok. Just prop the can on a small piece of wood so the dip tube sits down in the corner of the can when it starts to get low. If it gets so low that it starts to suck air then just add some water to the can. You’ll still have all the paint in the hose to spray before you get to the water. I do this all the time with no issue. Just be aware of when your paint starts to spray out thinner than normal. That’s when you hit the water that you added to the can.

    Getting ready to spray my cabinets with almost the exact same rig and paint. Haven't used a sprayer before but consider myself pretty handy. I keep hearing it's way more work than you think and is difficult. Would you agree? What is the most difficult part of this job?

    • @buildwithbc
      @buildwithbc  3 роки тому +3

      I don’t think it’s hard for someone who is handy. Just take your time, do t rush anything and you’ll be fine. Grab a few scraps of wood and paint them to get the feel of the sprayer before you start on your cabinets. You got this!

    Plus the seat for the FFLP tips are different from a blue rack x tip make sure you change the tip seat to suit your tip and if you have a gun filter for cabinet spraying you will need a red 150 mesh filter in your gun otherwise you will have stoppages every minute

    That graco sprayer is awesome but I'll tell you what. I bought a finish max super paint sprayer by homeright for 40 bucks on Ebay and it paints better then my $400 HVLP gun. So if you want to paint some cabinets yourself like a pro you don't have to spend 900 bucks on a sprayer

    Just some sound warnings and things to be aware of. The extreme bond primer is water based and not suited for priming stained and or lacquered cabinets which would be most peoples existing cabinets. This isn’t an opinion or the way I choose to do it this is painting 101

    • @buildwithbc
      @buildwithbc  3 роки тому +1

      You really only gain portability with the cordless unit over the X5. It comes in very handy if you are painting small areas and moving room to room. Both really are great to have but if I could only have just one, it would be the X5.

      @@buildwithbc We have windows that are black on the outside but white on the inside. We want to paint them black on the inside. For that project the smaller one would be great. When I make cabinets in the garage later and need to spray them all the X5 will be great. This is all helpful information.

    • @buildwithbc
      @buildwithbc  3 роки тому +1

      @@jasonpaulwhiting yes the portability of the Cordless Ultra sprayer would be ideal for painting those windows. You aren’t spraying a ton of pain but need to move from space to space with ease. That’s the perfect kind of job for the small sprayer.
