I remember Jerry Lawler came to Kennett, MO in the late 1970's and gave a concert. I was little and thought it was strange that the wrestler was on stage singing. He wasn't that bad though.

I grew up on Memphis Wrestling since the early seventies and no wrestling promotion will ever replace it. Thanks for memories.

lol....Memphis was so much more entertaining. Mid Atlantic was okay, it's probably all you knew. I grew up in a region where I could watch multiple territories. I looked forward to Memphis wrestling more than Mid-Atlantic or Georgia.

Wow...talking about memories...i actually started going when it was downtown Memphis at the old Ellis Auditorium...you could actually see backstage...and then when it moved to the Coliseum..Memphis wrestling exploded as Jackie Fargo turned over the reigns to Jerry Lawler...and on tv going from ch 13 at 330pm to ch5 at 11 am ...Memphis wrestling was the no 1 rated tv show...this was probably the best promotion ever..it knew it's audience...they ran weekly shows..The Coliseum held a little over 10,000 and every Monday night it was either sold out or a tad under..the Saturday morning tv with Lance Russell was appointment viewing and after watching you couldn't wait til Monday. THE funny thing about it is that you never questioned whether it was real or not....when it came to selling and pushing an angle no one did a better job than this promotion thanks to Lance Russell,Jerry Lawler, the Jarrets and many other key players..
