They missed the mark by selling gray plastic versions of stuff we already own. I don't underestimate stupidity. Love Bandai, want a tabletop game with Gundams...but don't want a recreation of Warhammer. Sad feeling this will crap out.

Oh, there have been several tabletop games over the years. The Gundam RPG, not the Mekton one already mentioned, was really quite good. And the Gundam Sentinel RPG was more tactical on a hex grid, which was different than the Collection game. Both never made it across the ocean. I’m working on translating them myself, but it’s slow going as it’s something I do when there’s free time.

I see those collaborations Bandai’s had with Games Workshop have born fruit, interesting to see how the plastics compare against standard Gunpla, Citadel, and CGL’s Battletech minis as these appear to come uncoloured so the formula might be different to better take paint.
I have been waiting for this my entire life! Been a massive Warhammer 40k and Gundam fan since I was a little kid and I always felt Bandai was leaving money on the table by not doing thing for so long.
I wrote a ruleset for mecha combat using 30 Minute Missions called 1800 Second Sorties back when I was locked in the house for 8 weeks in 2020. We still play it
I remembered someone making a video on how he wanted to make this kind of game. He sets out the demo and how to play with in depth rules. Can't remember who but surely he sparked the idea

For years I have always wondered why Gundam never branched out into a miniature game, the lore and model design I believed would transition over quite well. Now it seems the wait is over and I look forward to see where Bandai takes this.

I hope we see tanks and aircraft. My game uses HG kits and 10mm infantry and proxies, a D10 system with D6 random activation mechanic and cards to track component HP and ammo. I ran games with infantry, tanks, aircraft, off-map artillery and mobile suits.
I hope the rules will be as detailed as Classic Battletech. Those are very complicated and take really long to resolve, but they also allow for super dynamic and detailed battles which would fit perfectly for Gunpla.
Oh man, if only we could get other IP kits down the line, they could totally do SRW OG stuff too. Bandai already has a tonne of IP's that are in SRW that they already do kits for, they could totally have them all in Assemble.

What'd make this even more over the top is if they gave some of the gundam minis some level of poseability, like seen in their gunpla models. Nothing crazy ofc, but imagine being able to pose what action your mini is doing at the time during the game.

What I like is that is doesn't seem to be a wargame like 40k, but more like a small scale board game. That and I feel like I'll spend less on this then I ever would in 40k

All I hope is for the Mass Produced suits such as Zaku, RGM/GM suit, OZ-0GMS Leo, & Jesta have various poses or flexibility when making them (or at least not mutilating kit bashing) & won't be too high of a price.
Is each model going to come with different weapons/shields and alternative poses? I'm excited for this. I will definitely be building a few, I hope I can ever get a game

Considering the source material a more narrative based game would be more preferable, to be fair.
Although not miniatures, they did have those chit based board wargames way back, including some from other Sunrise 'Gundam adjascent' shows.

All I hope is for the Mass Produced suits such as Zaku, RGM/GM suit, OZ-0GMS Leo, & Jesta have various poses or flexibility when making them (or at least not mutilating kit bashing) & won't be too high of a price.
Is each model going to come with different weapons/shields and alternative poses? I'm excited for this. I will definitely be building a few, I hope I can ever get a game
