As a three-headed dragon myself, King Ghidorah is my favourite kaiju, but by design, the 'Void Ghidorah' is the most striking to me. The fact that you dont see the rest of its body, but all you see are its extraordinarily long necks and eldritch looking heads makes it look like the true end of worlds. Id imagine his heads wrapping around a planet or star and crushing it by constricting around the planet/star's surface, like a celestial boa, then causing it to collapse in on itself. Its a shame its potential was apparently wasted.
That's the biggest issue of the Netflix anime trilogy for me, there's a lot of really good ideas. It was just sadly doomed by less than stellar writing.
King Ghidorah is awesome in my eyes because (A) he's a giant three-headed golden space dragon, (B) he's probably the fifth most famous Toho Kaiju, only behind Rodan, Mothra, Mechagozilla, and Gozilla himself, and (C) all of the Kevin memes.
Ghidorah is one of Toho's big five, and you listed the other 4. I used to call it just the big 4, until I knew MechaGodzilla was a part of that. The memes, the DNA of the soul, always delightful to see. And yes, three headed space dragon, extremely based.
Yeah, that's not too different to mine, Mothra, largely because Monsterverse is a second for me, before sort of a tie between KG and Mothra, then MechaG, then last Rodan. Poor pterodactyl, always getting left out. Personality for the monsters is big, Kiryu will always be my Mechagodzilla, first one I ever saw.
Ghidorah and godzilla are Is destined to be enemies forever and I can't wait to see more of them in the future 😊. Also yes please do the mechs in the godzilla franchise next
The eternal enemy never rests. A rivalry that forever burns, it's gonna be great to see more. Glad to see people watched long enough to see that comment in the video
Now this is an amazing video, I am so happy someone has been able to get to and explain and give King Ghidorah the needed justice Ghidorah deserved, great video bro this deserves every single like, sub and view!
That means the world to hear. I was actually worried making these that people just wouldn't be interested in these sorts of things. Or worse, people had done better before. But seeing this, it gives me more and more resolve to keep making more.
@MaxisAllosaurus You are doing gods work my friend, these are well made and awesome. I loved how you did this video, as someone who loved Hydra's and always wanted them to get more recognition. I could not be happier seeing this video
One could say it's Godzilla's work. Planning to make more videos like this on each monster, maybe even more delving into each incarnation of Toho's big 5 individually. So one video on JUST Showa Ghidorah, JUST Heisei Mechagodzilla, etc.
Cool video! I love King Ghidorah, my favorite Godzilla's villain The best incarnation of them is by far the monsterverse one, but the 64 Ghidorah, Keizer, Void and Grand King Ghidorah are pretty good ones too
MonsterVerse is my favorite as well, for all the issues that the movies have in writing for the humans, they absolutely nail the monsters. The people making them have a lot of love for the classical takes, and it does really show through.
I haven't actually seen that, it's in a bit of that same area as the chibi Godzilla raids again version and the Godziban incarnations, I was focusing on the major movie versions.
It's funny that of all incarnations, the MonsterVerse Ghidorah is the first one to actually live up to the title as Godzilla's archenemy. Also, I personally don't count Keizer in any Ghidorah list. He's a Ghidorah, but he's not THE Ghidorah.
MV Ghidorah really did, large part of why I love the MV is that it takes the ideas of the previous Godzilla incarnations, a lot of the lore, and meta-contextual nature of the characters, and runs with those. Mixing the actual movies histories, with the perception of the characters. Fair assessment on the Kaiser Ghidorah. I debated talking about it or not, but my thinking was Ghidorah incarnations within Godzilla series, so felt it'd be strange not to include him.
My favorite villain of all time, against my favorite character of all time. Just like Godzilla, Ghidorah is malleable and will forever remain the G-Man’s arch nemesis!
It would be good to see, that's one of the advantages of two, or more, concurrent Godzilla series running. The two can use characters and scenarios the other can't.
16:35 well in final wars, it's stated that all the monsters have the same origins in their first movie appearance but Keizer is the only new monster and the book says that his origins are a complete mystery.
Though Kaizer G/Monster X are a variant of Ghidorah, I do agree though we don't know his origins, and that's why I said in the MV section MV was the first true to form return to original Ghidorah unambiguously. Since MX we don't know 100%
My favorite incarnation is Monsterverse Ghidorah because unlike the other Ghidorahs he's not a mind-control pawn for the aliens and futureians. He's not GMK Ghidorah who is a good guy (which I dislike). I prefer a villainous Ghidorah who destroy many planets and acts on his own free will.
Very good take. GMK's a movie that I like, but I also recognize it's an extremely heavy deviation, in all but Mothra's characterization. On it's own, it's not a good, or a bad thing, it's just different. However, if given the choice, I will always say I like Ghidorah as a villain. Which makes sense, given the original was Baragon, Anguirus and Varan.
@@MaxisAllosaurus I sometimes wondered of "Legendary" Ghidorah had a cult following as well, given he fell to earth and engulfed humans and titans as well. I'm sure he must have inspired some sort of fealty
Max Allo the GXK official novel is canon they add lore and extra narrative that couldn’t be covered in the movies. But anything that contradicts the movies or gets changed in the future, films takes prevalence. Why you think they call it official.
I would disagree on the they couldn't be covered in the movies, that's actually something of an issue I do have with GxK was it could have been a little longer to fill things out. And as you said, conflicting with movie lore, that part of the novelization does contradict the movies, prior movies we'd seen the cave paintings of the ancient battle with Godzilla and Ghidorah, and only Mothra was there in addition. So that does conflict with the established movie lore. It's like when the GvK novelization inserted Apex Cybernetics in the creation of the Oxygen Destroyer and that Monarch commissioned it long before, which the KOTM movie and even its novelization contradicts with Stenz telling Monarch right there as its about to be used, they didn't know it existed. If to say that Shimo being there is canon, despite the movies saying otherwise, that's a dangerous thing to do, because if they start actively retconning history, that destroys the biggest success of the MV, which is the monster histories. If they start changing those on a whim, that will destroy investment from the audience, not to mention that actively undermines Godzilla. They might be official novelizations, but they add a lot of conflicting data by trying to tie new stuff back into old stuff. This is another case of that.
@@MaxisAllosaurus I’m well aware dude in fact every Godzilla UA-camr / power scaler knows that, goji chronicles from Godzilla guy to fda are all knowledgeable of the subject in the deep lore and events about Godzilla . Yes we only see mothra in the cave paintings helping Godzilla fight off ghidorah. But just like you might have’d implied it doesn’t tell us anything , what if it took the combined effort of not just mothra and Godzilla to stop ghidorah but all the titans to jump the three headed noodle neck all at once. Because ghidorah was Uber more powerful in the ancient past then he was in kotm. And similar to GXK Godzilla had to supercharge himself to prepare for war just like his shows counterpart ghidorah was also a destroyer of worlds . And it will take more that goji mothra and Rodan to stop him so their would be no need for mothra so sacrifice herself to power up Godzilla. Maybe Scylla did had a hand of freezing him but even her climate control powers aren’t strong enough to completely freeze a monster as powerful as ghidorah. So after Godzilla & all the titans smoked his ass shimu and Scylla froze ghidorah together, since shimu is obviously more powerful the Scylla if she can plunge the world in an ice age🧐. That way ghidorah would stay trapped in the ice in Antarctica with no hope for him to escape.
I wasn't talking about power scaling, truth be told, I think Mothra is actually more powerful than Godzilla, but her powers are much less combat oriented. I was talking about the monsters' histories, and the already established lore of the MV. Not sure where it's said he was stronger in the past (unless that was also in one of the novels, which as said, already have conflicting information, and this would further cause a failure of internal logic) but even if Ghidorah was stated to be more powerful in the past, that doesn't make a lot of sense. Because if so, how would he have been frozen, and if the paintings depicted Godzilla mothra fighting, not Shimo (which could be meta contextual reasons of she wasn't thought up yet) and the power difference was so much larger, how did Godzilla survive long enough to be observed doing the bulk of the fighting, when Ghidorah was largely in control of the Boston fight? If he was more powerful in the past, and Godzilla wasn't as strong in the past, it's not even a contest, Ghidorah'd be wiping the floor with Godzilla. There is also Ghidorah's hostility to specifically Godzilla. That's the reason he was beaten in KOTM, Ghidorah's vendetta is with Godzilla himself. That's not implicit, that is very explicit. That means Godzilla was the one that beat him in battle. Him being frozen by Shimo, I like that idea, but that would need to be handled specifically in the writing in a way I'm worried Hollywood doesn't have the tact for doing. have been involved in the freezing of Ghidorah, I have a project on that in the works actually, but the way it's presented, Ghidorah's out for only Godzilla. If it was Shimo, Ghidorah wouldn't have cared about beating Godzilla. That's the reason he didn't bother with Mothra, she wasn't the one that beat him. If they do say all the sudden Shimo beat Ghidorah, that causes KOTM to make even less sense than it already does.
Bruh, just take the L. It was a throwaway line in the book to pump Shimo up because they're bad writers. When you're writing an essay longer than the time the book gave to the comment, you're grasping. And if you don't see the problem in them yoinking Godzilla's Rival take down away from Godzilla, you're trolling
King Ghidorah. My all time favorite Godzilla villain
Very much a classic.
The Golden Demise, The King of Terror and the Devil with Three Heads.
So many great names. Maybe I make a video just going over all the amazing titles the kaiju have...
Forgot "the one who is many"
All of these just sound like Heavy/Power Metal Album titles.
How Michael Dougherty puts it
Ghidorah is the Joker to Godzilla's Batman
Very well put
Ghidorah: that’s why i put the False King in my name!!!!!🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥🔥

Hey we're buddies we're both Hydra's! ✨
Showa ghidorah when he couldn’t run showed that he was a 1 kaiju army capable of fighting nearly a dozen kaiju at once
"It's four against one"
"I like those odds"
In all seriousness he really did have that presence of fighting that later ones didn't.
King Geedorah, take me to your leader,
Quick to claim that he not no snake like, me neither!

King Ghidorah.. the Joker to Godzilla's Batman.
They are meant to do this forever.
I remember watching ghidorahs debut film as my first ever G film good times.

Ghidorah the three headed monster, iconic for a long list of reasons, got the classics collection collector's edition version of it.
