    Local arctic cat dealers dropped the brand, because they were undercutting them selling very similar models for less to bass pro. Now there are no parts stores or mechanics within 300 miles from home. Lifetime AC rider, looks like Polaris just became my new brand.

      GreatAlaska that’s why I like Yamaha...They stand behind their dealers. If you want to buy a Yamaha generator you have to go to the Yamaha dealer that’s the way it should be

    I was pretty excited about the Blast LT. I was like "finally, a light weight, smaller sized utility sled with modern technology". At $8,095 US I was like, yes, sure it's a bit more expensive than I was expecting but it is liquid cooled and fuel injected and has a power valve so the little 400 will compare quite well to an old Trail or 500 Indy. Then I got my email quote for $8,840 as Cat/Textron left off the freight and deal prep charges. Really? Almost $9,000 for a kids sled when an EVO with close the same HP starts off under $6,000? Yeah, forget it! Textron sucks and for almost $9,000 I'm going to go the opposite direction in size and weight and buy a Polairs Widetrack as its MSRP is $9,300. I know the sleds are intended for different audiences but both are marketed towards utility. You get so much more for your money with a wide track that I can't justify the cost of the Blast LT. At $460 more for a widetrack, well.... look how much more you are getting. It's a no brainer.
    If the Blast LT was around $6,500, well, that'd be whole different story. I'm afraid Cat is heading towards bankruptcy with these stupid business practices.

      Wait a year or so, if they sell out of them and cost of the new tooling comes down maybe next MY they will be able to offer it cheaper.

      Chuck Beef something I heard recently from a dealer was that the Blast is on the same chassis as the Procross. It sounded like they kinda Evo’d it by just making it appear smaller with slimmer body work. I don’t know if this is true?

    • @ChuckBeefOG
      @ChuckBeefOG 4 роки тому +1

      That Alaska Guy That makes sense kind of. But i would think that if they shared a chassis with an existing snowmobile, then that should help reduce the cost. If they made a new chassis just for this sled, it would help explain the $9000 msrp.

    • @thatalaskaguy
      @thatalaskaguy 4 роки тому

      Chuck Beef I agree but that was what I was told by an AC dealer. I just watched this video again and they specifically mentioned new, smaller body work but didn’t say much about the chassis. I’m wondering if it’s a Procross bulkhead with an older model tunnel? The other thing that really bothers me is they still. Haven’t listed the weight. The Procross isn’t the lightest sled so I’m wondering if that’s why the dry weight ha as not been officially released?
      They could do a much better job marketing this model. It seems that most of the reactions and comments I’ve read since November have been negative which is unfortunate. But then again, Textron isn’t doing themselves any favors in how they’ve been promoting it. They wouldn’t have had to go to the order only sales system if they kept up with the market and manufactured a product more people wanted. They are asking way too much $ to order a new sled sight unseen. It’s frustrating.

      Silver light I’m not 100% convinced it is truly a smaller, mid sized sled. Installing smaller body parts would be easy to do as the 400 is smaller than their other engines. Put lower bars and a lower, smaller seat and it’s “mid sized”. That’s all Polaris did with the EVO, take a full sized sled, lower it and put on a smaller seat, tank and bars. I’ve got an EVO and have been unEvo’ing it as I have a bunch of pro-ride parts available. For the money it’s a great deal and I like how it’s upgradable.
      I’d love to see the Blast be offered with the 570 fan motor but it looks like they don’t offer in anymore. Liquid motors are nice except in hard, icy or low snow conditions where they have trouble staying cool.

    the blast 400cc sled is great. I grew up on a 1989 skidoo formula ss 462cc sled, we still have it, it runs great runs all day on a tank of fuel, is plenty fast for beginners and is actually a lot of fun and low maintenence, I use it for getting around my sugarbush. small displacement sleds are great to have around and I am glad to see them making a comeback, just keep them simple and lightweight so new riders can learn how to ride and work on their sleds with their own wrenches

      If you’re saying that they need to sink a bunch more cash into the sled to keep up with competitors you’re right.

    Hopefully the price comes down a bit.
    Otherwise, these are definitely what I have been looking for.
    Basically, a sport version of my 97 Tundra for my kids to hit small jumps with.
    Evo and Evo RMK have lowered suspension, still a full size sled, that weighs 150 lbs more then these (if they do in fact weight 400 lbs)
    I see the EVOs getting stuck a lot more then these.

    Arctic Cat is the sled we grew up on. It’s all we would consider buying. They were ubiquitous like Dodge Caravans- you saw them every where. They even got recognized for being a well run small business; but that isn’t true anymore.
    1.). Gone is the bulletproof Suzuki engines. I tried to find out who’s making their engines and I could not find out for the life of me so it is obviously somethings they are trying to hide. Everything from China is JUNK!
    2) they screwed their dealers by jumping in bed with Bass Pro. Obviously the management who made that decision was not wise enough to have a high regard for the value of a dealer network. Long term service is essential to customer satisfaction.
    3) management @ Arctic Cat is going same thing the idiots @ Dunkin Donuts just did- they changed their coffee! They are arrogant enough to think people will not notice it and now the coffee tastes like something out of the dollar store. I’ll never return to Dunkin nor remotely consider a Cat. If you gave me a brand new one, I’d put it on Craig’slist tomorrow & get me a Rotax engine made in Austria. Congratulation, smarty-pants managers at Arctic cat, you have a higher profit margin now but it’s still a factor of zero as your unit sales go down & down.

      Do your research before spouting a bunch of garbage. Cat makes their own engines in most of their sleds and all their mid to full size atvs and SXS's. They are bullet proof. I have owned and own many.

    Since Textron got them they’ve gone downhill. After 30+ years of nothing but cats, I went over to a Polaris Indy Adventure 600. The Axys chassis is far superior than anything Cat has ever put out for a trail race sled. Cat would have to pull a miracle to ever get me back for a new sled.

    The Blast is a great addition to be competition for the Evo 550 and Evo RMK 550 but NOT at $10,095cdn. Nearly double the price of a Evo 550 for a sled you kid will grow out of faster. At least the Evo 550 you can have the speed limiter removed. This is such a great sled with a hugely disappointing price. Not sure anyone is gonna buy these for their kids except the die hard AC fans with money to burn. Here's a thought if that wasn't bad enough. Its priced the same as Polaris full size sleds that come with a 600 Liberty twin at 125HP on the Axys chassis. O.O The AC marketing team needs fired.

      you forget something here. these sleds hold more resale than the full size counterparts. buy a new youth sled is the best, because the price ONLY goes up, and some is always looking to save a few bucks. gotta pay to play. and look at the them, blast vs evo…. yeah, blast all day. some hack job of a full sized sled.

    Polaris, last time I checked...only offered its much lauded 850cc and engine. The margins must be real slim and with other markets they are Into they must not be able to send 100s of their best or not be wholesaler. I’d you got the money, the rider Benefits from this snow check stuff.

    Cat dominates the race track. No need to produce some new smoke and mirrors gimmicks like the competition. When another manufacturer can beat their historic record set just a few years ago then maybe the competition will have finally caught up and figured out something that works...

    Well if it's true what others are saying about the pricing of the Blast, then I would agree it's a bit much for an entry level sled. I have yet to see it in person, but I've read that it's almost a full size machine, so I don't think the Blast is aimed at kids. I would like to see a true light and nimble smaller machine and at least on paper this seems like it has the right stuff. For some more insight on its size, the target market and timing of this release, see: www.arcticinsider.com/Article/Right-Sized-Ride-Review-%E2%80%93-iRide-the-Blast-ZR-and-LT

    Ah man, I don't know.....I think its almost time to move on from the Procross chassis and those Blasts are too expensive for what they are. I will admit though, a newer ZR 6000 would entice me, but the snow in the northeast has been TERRIBLY unreliable the last few years...tough to justify the $$$.

      China has quality, the issue is they will make whatever you like. So any manufacturer using China will say i want it made for $xxx dollars, China then makes what they budget for. Don't pretend ( in yer best sam elliot voice) "Merica makes the best" is reality, thats a load of BS. Tons of junk comes from the USA, not to mention Textron lol. If you have a textron gas tank in your car, hopefully you survive lol. Cat was a good company, but your American textron is killing it. They are dropping quality across their product lines.
