They hired Klay as a shooter and he's doing a good job. The problem is they need to work on their defense, like what the Warriors did to cover for Steph's weak defense. Klay isn't a lockdown player anymore but he's doing far better than Luka and Kyrie. If they're putting those three at the same time they need to change their bigs to defensive players. Not the likes of Gafford and Lively who are offensive big mens.

Luka can play good defense when he actually tries, but he's just so damn lazy & entitled lol. The first 3 rounds of the playoffs last year, he did pretty well defensively. I've caught so many times already this season where he just falls asleep on defense like that last play, & then he shrugs at or stares down his teammates (mostly his bigs) blaming them as if they're supposed to recover that fast & help him. His coach & teammates need to hold him accountable, probably the best players to do it would be Kyrie & Klay, since those two already have rings & the most experienced.

yup and it seems to be an order from Kidd. You can see Luka recognize and take a step towards the perimieter. I'm pretty sure this was a set defensive play where they blitz the corner when the ball swings that way. Problem is Luka made it so damn obvious that's what they wanted to do and Lively didn't rotate at all so they just gave up a free dunk. Conclusion is, either Lively is really mentaly slow, Kidd doesn't understand his players, or Luka just lost focus because even if you blitzing the perimeter that does not mean that you just ignore your man before the ball arrives. All 3 conclusions are rather concerning for an NBA team with championship aspirations

Kidd has his good coaching moments, but he's really not that great of a Coach. I think he's gotten a little better as a Coach, but that's basically what he did when he was the Bucks Coach too, just Giannis or Khris Middleton iso. And during those years, the Bucks were barely making (& sometimes missing) the playoffs. They got rid of Kidd & instantly became a contender. People think coaching doesn't matter, but it definitely does.
the interesting thing about this is that I'm fairly certain it was Kidd that told Luka to focus on the corner shooter rather than Collins in the dunker spot. I'm also fairly certain that Lively never got the memo that he would have rotate. Either way it's pretty unforgivable for an NBA team to make such an aggregious mistake in crunch time. Simply means that this team is very far from championship levels unfortunately
